Clouds covered the sun and seemed to threaten rain. A orange haired boy peered out the window of the Averin's Roost Tavern. Violet eyes watched the clouds as they grew thicker from the open seas. The wind was a little gusty and drove some inside and away from the dust that was being kicked up. He frowned before looking back towards Mick, the tavern owner and only barkeeper that was currently working.
"Do I really have to go out there? It's looking like it'll rain." the youth groaned as Mick looked at him while wiping down a thick class mug.
"Brewer's yeast won't be delivered on its own, without the person knowing here and how much to bring." Mick pointed out before wiping his hands on his apron and reaching under the bar for the supply listing. "Here, you be quick, you might get back here before the skies decide to open up."
Owaen took the paper and frowned even harder. He had to go to the docks near the far end of the wharf. How was he supposed to run that? He'd never make it there and back quickly. Wanting to protest, Owaen looked back at the barkeep before heading out the door near the back. It wouldn't be very good if he headed out the front.
"Couldn't he just sent someone else? Or just wait a day or two?" Owaen muttered as he stepped out onto the streets from a side alley. Of course he wasn't looking where he was going and quite possibly bump into most anyone.

Maya was traveling for the time being. Today however she was visiting the port to better understand the trade routes of the area. She was unaccompanied by any of her usual troupe, or familiar today. Expecting the trip to be a quick one. She didn't like lingering in a place for too long. She was searching for something, though she really wasn't quite sure what. Finding herself having lost awareness of her surroundings Maya stumbled forward when someone bumped into her. Startled she whipped her head around to face the offender. Accidentally elbowing him down as she spun around. Her Janarim giving a low growl before Maya could give the command to sit and stay.

There was the bump into a person, he opened his mouth to apologize, but then there was the elbow. This caused the boy to tumbled backwards and land on his backside on the ground. Shaking his head, he made sure that he hadn't lost the sheet of paper as he had fallen, he glanced back at the one he had run into. They were certainly taller then he was, older it seemed as well. Violet eyes narrowed slightly as he picked himself up off the ground. "Big beasty." Was his only comment as he looked up at the Janarim that growled at him. Scurrying backwards a little, Owaen found purchase against a wall to help pick himself up off the ground before glancing back at the woman that was with the creature. From the alleyway that he had come from a much smaller critter charged out. A smaller green and brown colored Duruf stood before Owaen and barked at the Janarim

Maya grumbled at his retort. He had a point there she was quite far away from Chibale. Her eyes focused on the earthling in front of her, hands shifting to rest on her hips as she leaned forward towards the boy. "Well you're a strange earthling aren't ya, sorry about that. The knock has got to sting a bit, accidental I promise." Maya took a step forward apologetically. Extending her hand out towards the earthling
The growing clouds darkening the streets, the scent of petrichor filling the air around them. "Again terribly sorry for that, are you busy by chance?"

Owaen looked up at the woman before that the Duruf who was barking at them as well. Reaching out with a foot, he tapped the duruf to stop barking and it looked back towards Owaen with its tongue lulled out the side of its mouth. It's fine, it's fine." Owaen said as he took to woman's hand to heave himself off the ground. "Actually, I am in a little bit busy. Boss wants me to get something delivered." He looked around for the sheet of paper that he had been holding. Shoot, he hoped that it hadn't been blown away with a gust of wind. "Where did that list go." He muttered before finding it under his foot, how? He wasn't going to even ask, only just pick the paper up. "Need to get to the last dock on the wharf. Before the rain starts." Owaen glanced up at the ever darkening skies.

"Here let me make it up to you." Maya kept her hand outstretched towards the earthling. Her eyes glanced back towards her Janarim. "Oh, don't mind him. He's quite grumbly around anyone who isn't me. But he will do well to carry you where you need to go. So long as I travel with you. That way you can be sure to reach your destination before rainfall. Again I do apologize for the blow you took there." Maya waited to see if the earthling would take her offer, checking the palm of her hand when it was immediately accepted. Giving her hand a disapproving scowl, she quickly wiped it off on the side of her clothes before extending it again with a smile. "Truly, have you ever been on a Janarim? They are quite fast creatures."

"Just don't see many of them around here, most people use other critters." Owaen said as he still kept a bit of a distance away from the Janarim. "But I am headed for wharf number four." Owaen wasn't too sure about really getting close to the Janarim, but he was willing to take the Alk's hand... Though he did turn towards the Duruf that was still barking at the Janarim, "Mocki, that is enough. Go find Mik." he shooed the dog away, which it barked once more before vanishing back down the alleyway and into the shadows. "A ride will work, get there faster anyways." He glanced towards the skies as the clouds gathered thicker and more drops of rain started to fall in thick drops. The faster it was finished, the better after all. This making him take the Alk's hand to be hoisted up onto the Janarim's back.

The growing wind of a signaling storm didn't bother the Alkidike woman much. she had been through much worse in the past. "Not that you could be blamed for that, True seeds. Janarim were quite a fierce foe in the wars. Even my own Daughter has a fearfulness towards such creatures as well." Scrunching her nose up disdainfully, Maya promptly stopped speaking. Here she was, volunteering more information to a stranger that really hadn't asked for it. Her grip tightening around the young man, pulling him up into the saddle in front of her with somewhat ease. Looking his figure up and down with surprise. She hadn't expected it to be that easy to lift the earthling up. Wrapping an arm around the smaller earthlings middle her arm braced him against her body. Her other arm reaching out to take hold of a makeshift set of reigns. Not that she needed to use them, they just seemed to give other people a sense of ease. Her form of leading her companion was different than most. "Hike!" Maya barked out, squeezing her knees together. She would have to keep balance with a bit more weight for this journey. With that in mind she could only hope it was a quick one, or she would be sore later. The janarim wasted no time in responding to Maya's commands. His claws digging and scraping into whatever they could hook themselves around in order to propel himself forward faster.

Owaen flailed slightly as he was yanked off the ground after taking the woman's hand. While he was in his teenage years, Owaen was still a scrawny boy who was on the thin side. Plopped down in front and an arm wrapped around his middle. Anyone could really tell how thin Owaen was, it was like he hadn't been eating the best through the years. While his mother was a seamstress, sometimes pay wasn't as fruitful and bills were paid before food was bought. He did grab food from the tavern, he gave most to his mother and ate little himself. "Turn left at the crossroads. It will lead down to the wharf." Owaen instructed just as the woman ordered her mount to move forwards. Hands gripping the saddle in front of him, Owean looked at the building that moved past them. Everything almost seemed like a blur to him, while they didn't seem to move that quickly, perhaps it was because he wasn't used to riding other creatures? It was hard for him to tell, as all this was very... Fast.. "By the way, my name's Owaen." He said as he turned his head to glance back at the Alk woman.

"Woops, where are my manners. I'm Maya, and it's a pleasure to meet you. Albeit strange circumstances." Gripping the earthlings middle a little tighter Maya glanced down at the boy momentarily. Noting the disparity between him and her daughters size. Mentally taking note to give him the rump of a beast she had killed earlier. Now wasn't the time for that, coming up to a turn meant she would need to hold tightly onto the earthing. Or risk them both falling off if he fought her too much into the lean. Once they had reached the appropriate turn Maya gave out her instructions again for the Janarim to follow. Doing her best to keep her and her passenger ballenced on the beast as he ripped around the corner. Relaxing her hold a little, Maya continued to keep her arm securely around the boy. "That might have hurt a bit, sorry about that. Better to keep us balanced and safe. This beast can be somewhat unpredictable when turning through these awkward buildings.

"A pleasure... To meet you!" Owaen said as the beast beneath him took the turn and he held onto the saddle even harder. Even with Maya holding onto him, he did feel a little like he was going to fall off. In the back of his mind he knew he should have just used his own two feet, even if it meant he would get soaked in the process. Staring a head, taking his mind off the body that carried them through the streets, other citizens shouting as they moved out of the way. "Sorry!" Owaen would shout before looking forward again. Down the street, rather down the side of the large hill that they were built upon. The wharf loomed out over the rolling waves. Ships there rocked with the tides as many milled around loading and unloading goods. "Wharf is a head." He reached into his pocket to pull out the list that Mick had given him. "Lets see, need to go to..." Clutching the paper he squinted at the writing, wishing that Mick wrote things clearer. "Number four, last one on the dock." He pointed towards the last pier that a large cargo vessel was docked at.

Ignoring the earthlings obvious discomfort at being mounted on the janarim. Maya nodded at the instructions given to carry on. Keeping the beast on track with a simple command. Every so often glancing down at the strange earthling as he apologized to those who moved out of her way. How odd of a custom. Her musings were interrupted when the boy pulled a piece of parchment from his pocket. Squinting at the strange lines and markings on it's surface. Clearly the boy could gather information from the marked paper. She however, could not. Her gaze followed from the boys paper, all the way up his arm to where his finger pointed. Her lips copied the words Owaen spoke as she tried to work out just what he was referring to. Eventually arriving at what she assumed was the correct conclusion the janarim drew closely into the dock. Maya rocked back, sinking her weight into the back end of the beast to instruct it to slow to a brisk walk before standing still. Nodding once in satisfaction with a growing smile on her face, Maya swung her leg up and over the side of the beast. Dropping the rest of the way to the ground while still keeping a firm grip on Owaen. Once her feet were firmly planted Maya lowered the earthling towards the ground. Shifting her arm from holding him to brushing off any dust he may have gathered. Standing up straight she looked the boy up and down with a satisfied grin. She was proud of herself, for having gotten the boy safely here. Despite the pouring rain that soaked through her dreads. "There you go, safe and sound. Though I couldn't keep you from getting wet I'm afraid." Depositing both hands on her hips Maya looked around the dock. "Well what are we here to collect?"

"It is fine, at least we got here safely." Though he had been white knuckled most the way at the speeds they had been going. Smoothing his hair that the wind had ruffled along the way he looked around at the docks for any sign of the shipment he was after. "Um.. Mick said that a shipment of brewer's yeast was being brought in." Owaen said as he looked around the docks before heading over to one of the deckhands that had a barrel slung over a shoulder. "Um, excuse me, was there a shipment on this ship for the Averin's Roost Tavern?" he asked. The deckhand looked down at the scrawny earthling as he set the barrel down and glanced around. 'Think your shipment was offloaded and placed..' the deckhand looked around again. 'Let me go and check.' Owaen looked around the dock as the deckhand didn't seem to know where the yeast had been placed. As they walked off, Owaen looked back towards Maya. "Need the yeast to brew ale and other drinks at the tavern. Need to keep the populous happy."

Maya tilted her head to the side quizzically at the mention of brewers yeast. Whatever was it? What was it for? Interest and curiosity edged against her tongue, biting it back as she watched the earthling interact with another individual on the docks. Keeping her hands on her hips she refrained from moving around too much. She had no idea what it was she was looking for, and didn't want to accidentally knock something over and cause more trouble for the small man. Dark orbs followed the man Owaen had been speaking with until he disappeared out of sight. About to ask about the item and what it was used for, Maya's eyes shot up in surprise. He was already answering the question before she could. Giving a half chuckle the Alkidike nodded her understanding. Though she didn't quite understand the complexity of it, she was satisfied with the information she was given. "Is it a rather large object?" Maya finally asked, looking around the docks some more at the various hustle and bustle of life. This was not something she was used to seeing, and it was hard not to find herself staring as she took in the sights.

"I would assume that it would be loaded into a wagon." Owaen looked towards the beast that had brought them to the docks. "Do you think your friend can pull a wagon? Or I can hire someone for that..." He didn't want to impose and request a lot from someone that he had just met. Turning around as he was sure his face was burning red with shame, maybe even embarrassment from asking. As he did turn around, the deckhand returned to him. 'Three barrels of brewer's yeast. Order is by the dock master's office. Put into dry storage so that the rain water wouldn't seep in and spoil.' The man said as he pointing in the direction to head. 'Can't have that yeast go bad, be a long dry season until more came in.' the deckhand grinned with a small wink. "Thanks, Mick will appreciate that you guys are looking out for him." Owaen said as he turned towards where the Dock Master's office was located. "Shouldn't take too long, load it into a wagon and cover it with a tarp." He pondered a moment, wondering if he should hire a couple of hands to deliver the goods to the tavern itself.
