It had been a few weeks since she had powered up, everything was still a bit new as she had finally gotten control of her powers. It had also been enough time since her last fight that she wasn’t as nervous about patrolling alone. She still had some scarring from the burns but the worst had been taken care of between the three who had helped her. It still tore her up inside that she had been disfigured so she made sure she applied makeup and spray to seal it before going out to any event she would potentially be sleeping around at.

Tonight her goal was scoping out some new areas and looking for some potential new recruits or draining targets. This time would be different though, she kept her location up as a ping to her brother just in case. She also would listen to her advice of laying low and trying not to start a fight to begin with. As much as she wanted to just do everything on her own, she had literally been burned over it.

Keeping to rooftops, she targeted the people standing out on their balconies smoking. She didn’t have to touch them anymore which was nice and let her keep a bit away from her target. After each hit, she would make her way to the next building while keeping her senses aware of any signs of order auras. She wasn’t about to run into another senshi if she could manage it. If it was one of those knights she could maybe deal with it if they were the same rank or lower than her.

Gorner was out as well, Derrick was off somewhere else in the city checking on things, they could keep in contact via cell phone since she didn’t have her signet ring. She hadn’t even known about those till he’d mentioned them to her; hence the use of cell phones. She kept hers in subspace until she needed it, which hadn’t happened yet, and she knew he was doing the same.

Her arms were across her chest, since she had no pockets to put her hands into, as she patrolled on her own tonight. It wasn’t until she turned a corner, and had passed two buildings, that she felt something. She was getting better at picking up signatures and figuring out what they belonged to, and this one was a corrupt senshi. So someone was nearby but she saw no one and heard nothing going on. So then where?

She felt it as she finished draining another person, the aura of someone in order. It felt different than a senshi, at least she thought so. Pressing herself against the edge of the HVAC on the roof she was on, she made sure her location was set to ping just in case. She didn’t want a redo of the last time, not without backup. The scars on her stomach still itched and protested against most of her movements as she focused on what she felt.

They were close, really close. Using the camera on her phone, she held it out and down from the edge of the rooftop. Taking a picture of the alleyway below, she then pulled it back and saw a figure show up in the photo. They looked like they were searching for something and she was pretty sure that meant they were looking for her. They were down on the ground so she wouldn’t be able to use her magic just yet. For now, she waited and prepared herself, she wanted to get a drop on them if she could.

Seeing as no one was around, not even in the alleyway, Gorner was suspecting they were up at roof top level - they had to be. She’d just need to get up there to be sure but she was figuring this was the correct assumption, since there was no one around otherwise.

That led to her finding a fire escape, on the side of a building two down from where she stood, and up she climbed. She hated fire escapes, including the on attached to the side of her own apartment building. She didn’t like how rickety they all seemed, like they might give out at any moment, and they were too easy to slip on or fall down. She didn’t like them one bit but she still climbed up the ladder and onto a roof top, she didn’t even know what sort of building it was, as she got there she too the time to sort herself out and look around slowly, enjoying the cool breeze even.

When she did see someone they were two buildings away…where she’d just been not too many minutes ago. “Hey!”

She had been mostly hidden by the HVAC but apparently not enough. At first, she didn’t acknowledge them, trying to think of what she could do next. Was she far enough away that if she chopped the braid that was still mostly hidden, would she be able to pass for one of the mirror senshi from afar? It would be too much of a risk to try, at least she figured so what she did instead was slowly creep closer while keeping at least some cover between them. “Hey?” She responded only once she had made it to the edge of the roof she was currently on. Even if she could teleport the rest of the way, she didn’t want to be the one to close the distance.

Taking some of the things her brother had said to heart, she would keep her distance as much as she could until it was physically impossible to do so. Also if needed, she had thrown some things into her subspace that she could throw at the opponent to give her time to get her brother to pull her away. Now she waited again, to see what would happen next as she siphoned just a little more energy away from the person snoozing on the balcony below her.

Gorner was certain they’d been out gathering energy, as every negaverse agent did, it was all you ever caught them doing really. Either they were in the middle of the act or they were between people, they had no other reason for being out and powered. So she knew this one was guilty without needing to see what they were doing, which she didn’t notice from where she was.

“Gathering energy from innocent people.” Not a question but a statement from the squire as she walked across the rooftop, so one roof was between the two of them.

“You really should leave the people of this city alone.”

They came closer but not close enough, she took a moment to give a status update to her brother and made him aware that it wasn’t a senshi and to be on standby. Standing up carefully and pretending to be wounded. “How can you prove it? Maybe I’m not on the same side as you but that doesn’t mean those youma like me much better than they like you.” It was a gamble that they’d by it but if she could get just a bit closer. They wouldn’t even need to cross the whole distance to get in range.

“They’ve been out tonight and one got me earlier I just thought that being like this would help me get away is all. They got me pretty good.” She still had angry-looking scars on her side and a bit on her arm from both the fire and lightning strike. Looking at them made her physically ill but they might help lure the other in.

“Of course they don’t like you - you’re still a senshi. You’ve just joined the wrong side and they can see where you’re meant to be. That should tell you the truth of where you belong.” And where she would be wanted. Order might not be the best, they had no real unity, and didn’t work well together. But corrupt senshi weren’t welcome on their side even by the youma who were beast-like in intelligence.

“And you were out doing what before you ran into a youma that decided it didn’t like you?” There was no way she was out innocently, she knew better, as she jumped onto the rooftop which neither of them had been occupying. “You were out, before the attack, harassing innocent people and hurting them.”

“Sometimes you don’t get to choose your side, or your family.” It was something she felt strongly about still. Not that she didn’t like the opportunities, she just wasn’t as keen on being so close to her brother again. Things had gotten a bit smoother between them, evident with how she kept him updated on what was going on. He had helped her after the fire and also with figuring out the weird issue she had had with her magic.

“I was out to get some food mainly, there’s a place that doesn’t care who or what you are and I heard they had good food. I had almost gotten there when I saw the wolf monster. You know as well as I do that running as a civilian is a lot slower than running while like this.” She gestured to them and then stepped up onto the edge of the roof. This would work, just barely. She didn’t wait any longer and took the moment to teleport just to the other ledge. She held her hands out in front of her and screamed her attack into that invisible mic of hers.

“You can choose your side.” Did this one not know that? No, she doubted that. They simply weren’t choosing the right side, because they could, even though Gorner knew it wasn’t an easy choice to make. It meant losing a lot but it was the better option, when compared to serving the negaverse, it was especially true for corrupt senshi who weren’t even liked by youma apparently.

Watching as the corrupt teleported, and was suddenly very close to her, Gorner was expecting the attack to come. What she did not expect was the noise - so damn much noise. Not only was it a lot of noise but it was loud and it was all different…from screaming to a crying child and than barking - all at once. It was too much and had her covering her ears as she tried to keep her eyes focused on the other, in case the corrupt attacked her. Her ears were ringing though, as covering her ears didn’t do as much work as she wished it would.

They didn’t know her story or her family but that was fine. Stepping forward, it was a nice change to not be affected by her own magic. They had covered their ears and that left their hands occupied. She would have said something but they wouldn’t hear it among the noise. Taking a few more cautious steps towards them, she stood just out of reach. Getting a close look at them and trying to take all their features and outfit details down.

She had seen another knight in the past and they had been very green just as she had been. That wasn’t the same feeling she got here but they were definitely set on their opinion of things. She was still flexible, to a point but only because she was conflicted about the star seed ripping part. It had only been a few seconds of thought before she decided to try for a swing at their stomach.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 03, 2023 3:31 pm

This was not good, as she watched the other drawing closer to her, she could remove her hands if she wanted to but she didn’t. The noise would, she figured, be too much if she removed her hands but it left her open to attack and that was Gorner’s worry, especially since this person was a part of the Negaverse. They weren’t exactly known for fighting fairly.

She wasn’t surprised when the corrupt senshi swung for her, she was expecting it even, but she didn’t have the time to avoid it either. As air rushed out of her lungs, and she gasped and choked and coughed, the knight doubled over while trying to keep her hands firmly pressed to her ears to keep the sounds to a manageable level. When she got home she was grabbing headache meds; she was going to need it. This was another person she’d be warning Derrick about, as she doubted he’d like such an encounter with them.

Cursing her luck, and the corrupt senshi, the knight waited out the magic before uncovering her ears which still rung from all the noise. The good thing was her hands were free now and she came up swinging, if only so she could get some distance between them and escape. She felt sick, the shot to her stomach wasn’t sitting well with what she’d eaten earlier in the day, and she still couldn’t draw a full breath. It still hurt to and she kept coughing every so often as she tried to get her breathing to normal.

Aoede had already been stepping back a bit as her magic neared an end, but not quickly enough to avoid the punches. They sent her back a bit further as she did her best not to fall backward. Hopefully, they would leave soon since it looked like her gut punch had done at least some damage. No magic had come out yet, or weapons so that was a plus. The only downside was that her magic drew a lot of attention in the area. People on the balconies of this building were starting to look outside and yell at the noises.

“Might want to break this up, someone might come to check things out. Who’s to say what side they would be on either.” It was another bluff of hers, one which she could back up with if she needed to. Chalcanthite was just a text away, at least this time. She was a little winded herself and watched the other carefully while maintaining a level of readiness if she needed to attack or defend herself.

The people making noise, complaining, drew her attention and reminded her how this was not a good setting for a fight. The people of the city didn’t exactly like them and had no clue about good versus bad or anything of the sort. They just saw people in odd clothing fighting in the streets and making a lot of noise. They saw the city being trashed, from time to time, and didn’t like it and so took it out on them all when and where they could. They didn’t discriminate, the people of the city, they had a thing against them all.

“For now we’ll end this.” For the safety of them all, plus whatever civilians might try and become involved. For now she was moving to leave, keeping her eyes on the other, her eyes still rung and she hoped it would stop soon. She’d grab pills for the headache once she got home.

Nodding back at the knight, she teleported away. It left her winded but at least she was out of sight when she powered down. The disgruntled neighbors provided enough of a distraction to keep eyes off her. It could have gone better but also, it could have gone a lot worse. Texting her brother the all-clear, she made her way back to her apartment for the night.
