Silistra was feeling a bit better about patrolling since she had gained her powers as a squire. She felt more able to help others, though she didn't want to be anyone's mentor she had been shocked and baffled when a page had asked her about that not too long ago. She didn't think of herself as someone for others to look up to. She did do her best however and perhaps she could get comfortable with being part of a team someday. Then again perhaps she would stay mostly to herself as she normally did. Which was what she was doing right now on the top of a building a ways from her home. She looked up at the cloudy night sky and she sighed softly it was still rather warm from the heat of the day but soon the city would cool down as fall came closer.

Being a knight was so much fun.
Granted she was aware that it wasn't all fun, but Ekstrom, at the very least, was having some fun with it. The enhanced abilities were probably one of her favorite things, and something she was still running around experimenting with. How strong was she now? How high could she jump? How fast could she run? Did she get tired or winded just as quickly? All questions she wanted answers to, and she was taking it upon herself to do her own testing. She started slow and focused on things that wouldn’t be missed in case she overdid it, but tonight she was working on answering the third question.
How high could she jump?
Single-story buildings had been easy enough so tonight she was staring up at a two-story building with a very determined look on her face. Her white wisp companion floated over her shoulder, looking somehow smaller than usual. Maybe it was nervous for her, somehow? Ekstrom considered it for a moment, gave it an encouraging smile, took a deep breath as she poised to jump, and then jumped to try and clear the height of the building.
Up, up she went until she was a good foot above the roof, and there she spotted…another knight.
“Oh! Oh!” she started to say, before she began the inevitable descent, courtesy of gravity. She had jumpted straight up so she wasn’t in a position to actually land on the roof. “I’ll be right back!” she called as she dipped briefly out of sight. It was maybe a few seconds before she was visible again, expression bright as she landed rather comfortably just nearby.
“Hi!” the new Page greeted, extending a hand to the other. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything. I’m Ekstrom!”

Silistra was very shocked at the very rushed and bouncy knight who appeared and then disappeared for a moment. She blinked it felt like she had been running into a lot of spirited young knights lately. She blinked at the extended hand still confused by the sudden introduction. She finally accepted the hand she was offered and said "Oh.. well I'm Silistra, Squire of Saturn." She said softly. She shook her head "No, you were not really interrupting anything." She looked out over the city and gestured out and said "Just a normal patrol." She didn't mean for her words to sound cold, even if they may have come across as such. She had never been much of a people person, but she did try her best to help others. She had lived so much of her life alone that she often found it hard to connect with other people. "So you are a new knight I take it?" She asked in a soft tone.

”Silistra,” Ekstrom repeated with a nod, smile as friendly as ever when the other knight finally accepted her extended hand. They shared a brief handshake before she let go, not wanting to hold on for too long by mistake. She’d had too many awkward encounters in her past because she forgot to let go. Not today, though! Silistra already seemed a bit surprised by her energy, she didn’t want to completely scare her off.
“Nice to meet you!”
When she gestured toward the city she couldn’t help but follow with her eyes. The view was exquisite, she thought, and then she bobbled her head again to sort of nod. The new page didn’t seem to mind the slight cold in her voice; for all she knew Silistra just wasn’t good with strangers, so she didn’t take it personally. Rather, she hoped she could offer the other a bit of warmth, instead. An offer of friendship, perhaps, or at least acquaintance-ship and willingness to be available to help based on the tentative connection of them both being knights.
At her question she nodded again. “Brand new, yeah. Since you’re a squire I’m guessing you’ve been at this for a while?”

She smiled a little. Their interaction wasn't too much for her and that was nice, it was easy for her to feel overwhelmed at times. "Yes, and I understand full well how hard it is to be a page." She looked at Ekstrom "I hope you will be careful patrolling and be mindful not to go rushing into any situation you can't handle." Not that she had much room to talk since she had gone out when she was a page and gotten attacked a number of times by accident and had found herself on a battlefield that she likely had no business being on. Still she wanted to protect younger knights from what she had gone through even if it would do no good in the long run she knew what it was like to be young and excited about helping others.

The smile was encouraging, Ekstrom thought. At least, it let her know that perhaps Silistra wasn’t entirely uncomfortable now that they were properly introduced and all. Her own smile was steady as ever, and she gave a little nod at the other’s advice.
“It’s not so bad, I try to be careful,” she said, “or at least I think so. Maybe I’ve just gotten lucky, but I haven’t run into another youma or anyone from the Negaverse yet.” She looked a little disappointed at that. She wouldn’t go looking for trouble, she had other things about her newfound knighthood that she was plenty curious about that she could dedicate some nights to looking into (like tonight’s experiment with jumping), but she was interested in learning about what, and more importantly who, else was out there.
“I haven’t run into anyone the past few days, actually, so I’m pretty happy I ran into you. Kind of explains the energy earlier, I guess.” She blushed a light pink then, and cleared her throat. “So as a squire, you’ve got magic, right?”

Silistra sighed she knew this knight would run into trouble at some point but so was life in this city. "If you need my help just call." She hadn't wound her ring yet.. she needed to do that and she figured this knight hadn't found their ring yet either.. so it made things harder when it came to finding help. She nodded shaken from her thoughts. "Yes, I use my magic to heal injuries." She frowned and then asked, "Have you found your ring yet?" Her tone was gentle and not judgemental, it had taken her a while to come across her ring while on her wonder. She had only been there a few times but it was still not something that every knight even knew about.

Ekstrom couldn’t help the brightness in her smile at Silistra’s offer. She shook her head, though, at the question concerning her ring.
“Not yet. I haven’t been to my wonder yet, actually. I have an idea how to get there, but I’ve just been so swamped recently. Between work and school, I barely have time to do this, never mind visit Mercury.” She looked disappointed at that, as she’d been looking forward to finally seeing the place in person versus just in her dreams.
“Healing magic, huh? That’s pretty cool. Feels like it’d be pretty useful considering all this.” She waved her hand in a very vague gesture at the city. It had gotten significantly more…interesting since she became a knight.
“Honestly, though, I hope you haven’t had to use it that much.” Since that probably meant she, or someone around her, had gotten injured.

Silistra nodded "To be honest I avoided mine for a while afraid I had failed my wonder and thinking that I would never be able to make a difference.. It is still something I worry about, even as a squire. It is a daunting thing indeed." She said softly. "Healing magic is part of who I am I suppose, but it isn't always easy, everything has a cost and luckily I haven't had to use it much, I didn't have my magic yet on the last battle field I was on."

Ekstrom couldn’t help the slight frown. The fear of being a failure or not being able to make a difference was relatable, and she reached out to gently pat Silistra on the shoulder to hopefully comfort her. “Well, for whatever it’s worth, I don’t think you’re a failure. And I may be new, but if I can help with anything just say the word!” She paused, blinked, then added, “Uh, after I find my ring, I guess.”
She laughed lightly at her oversight, though the laughter quickly faded and the frown came back. “That’s good, then, especially if that sounds like what I think it sounds.”
The page sighed softly, finding herself suddenly worried for her new knight acquaintance. “Battle field?”

Silistra smiled a little she wasn't used to others touching her but she accepted the touch anyway. "Thank you." She said softly.. She was a little baffled at how knights got their gear at this moment.. she had found her weapon and had to find her ring, things were not easily given to knights. She didn't think the Code would be changing that though. She nodded and then sighed out softly. "Yes.. a call went out to everyone who was able to answer and it was.. it was a very bad day.. a number of order members were lost to chaos, some I believe were purified.. It was very chaotic but I was on that battlefield as just as page.. It is not something I recommend but I'm sure you know wanting to help even if the risk is impossible."

The page nodded at the last comment. She had always been the type to run to the fire as opposed to away from it, so that feeling was one she definitely knew and understood. “One of those situations you were talking about, huh?” she said, unsure what to think about such an open call. Honestly, if she ever got such a call she knew she would answer without too much thought. It was one of those things she believed in, standing together and helping each other out. She didn’t know exactly who all that entailed, but that didn’t matter much. If they called for help, she would answer.
“That’s brave of you, going even as a page with no magic. What was your ‘weapon’ at the time? Could you at least defend yourself with it?”

She nodded and then said, "My weapon was still my lamp, which is metal so yes it was useful for fighting and of course, a knight's strength even as a page, but perhaps it was more foolish than it was brave." That was her point of view anyway.

Ekstrom imagined taking a few swats from a metal lamp wasn’t all that pleasant, so she was somewhat relieved to hear that Silistra hadn’t been completely defenseless at the time. The comment about it being foolish made her chuckle, though, and shrug ever so slightly.
“Maybe, but I think it was still at least a little brave.”
