Ro was off to visit his grandmother, well... she wasn't his biological grandmother but she was still his Granny. He had saddlebags full of goodies he was bringing for her, seeing as she didn't really get out much, those woods were scary at the best of times, he didn't know why on earth Granny liked it out there. Maybe today he would ask her. Either way, he carefully made his way through the trees, it was a large forest and it took a long time to get to Granny's house, especially when he took the longer trail, because of the pretty flowers along the way.

On the opposite side of the forest Lynx was hunting, he'd heard of a wolf, most likely a shifter, around the woods, scaring people and soquili alike, though oddly, nothing and no one had been attacked or killed just... spooked, either way he'd left his mate safely at the place they'd decided to make a home for the time being, and headed out. He new she could take care of herself by now but he still worried about her. He shook his head, task at hand, his stained looking pelt moving through the trees, keeping to the more hidden places, looking for any signs of a shifter.

Wolfwood continued running, fumbling and tripping over his paws. At one point he even landed neck first in the mud, hi curious situation with his head and neck the only reason his head didn't go flying from his body. It took the curious soquili a moment to figure out what just had happened as his vision in this position wasn't quite good. Usually Umbrasyl was around to help but she was no where near today, when he could really use her.
That's when he heard the sound of steps approaching, softer though, not hooves. Paws perhaps. Doing his best to right himself, Wolfwood glanced around quickly, his mouth slightly parted and spitting out bits of dirt. He spun this wa and that until he finally angled himself towards a path just on the other side of the patch of forest he had been running in. A figure was slowly coming into view, black with a glorious red mane and what looked like baskets along his sides and back.
Just what Wolfwood needed!
Stumbling forward, Wolfwood almost ran to greet them until Umbra's words rang in his mind. And he paused.
'Slow Wolfwood dear, you startle others.' he recalled her warning and stopped short of the path line, still slightly hidden in the brush. He didn't want to scare off this newcomer....just warn them!

Ro already had a lot of flowers in his baskets but he knew of an area in the woods where there was often a patch of really beautiful purple flowers, he couldn't remember if they would be in bloom yet but he was going to check anyway. He heard a sound not too far off and froze, peering into the woods but he couldn't see anything and the sound vanished almost as quickly as he'd heard it. He shook his head and went back to picking flowers.

Lynx was still searching for signs of the wolf, he'd found some tracks that seemed to be on par with a shifter's paws when in regular form but no signs of violence, he'd bumped into one or two Soquili following the safer trails and none had mentioned seeing anything. He sighed in frustration, he really had hoped to have heard some news. Suddenly he heard a noise, quite a ways off but enough to get him curious, he would have gone to investigate but another soquili passed him on the trail and asked him for directions to get out, he decided to escort them instead, just in case.

Wolfwood watched the other freeze. Oh no, had he already scared them off? Frowning, he remained even more still, almost like a statue. When the other finally began moving again, Wolfwood let out a soft sigh of relief. Good, they weren't gone, not yet. Taking a careful step forward, Wolfwood began to step out of the forest and into the clearing, becoming more visible. His tail wagged softly, hitting a few bushes as he stepped out, hoping that would show he was friendly. A hard task with his current...neck and head situation. Not that he knew any better. "Mmm...scuse..." he got out roughly, his voice not used to being used...or perhaps because of other reasons. He continued to take a few steps towards the other, slow and careful, at least, in his mind he was. He had no idea how frightening he may have looked to the other soq. All he wanted to do was warn this one of the danger he had witnessed and to be careful of a monster on the prowl, eating soquili when they least expect it.

Ro looked up when he heard bushes move and couldn't quite believe what he was seeing, was it a wolf? a soquili? a mud monster? .. wait, was that it's head.... on a STICK? He wasn't quite sure what to do so he just stood there, watching the apparition's mouth move in an attempt to speak. He stepped back as the mystery creature stepped forward "What" His voice came out in a squeak, he cleared his throat before trying again... "What do you want?" he asked, not running away but staying prepared to anyway "I mean... are you even okay?" ... it's head was on a stick... what on earth WAS this creature? he wondered. Curious but not stupid, if this was something that could hurt him, he wasn't about to let it get too close.

Lynx escorted his companion out of the woods quickly and got back to where he was before when he'd heard the noise before. He frowned and walked forward through some bushes, coming across a large muddy area, with some fresh prints leading out of it, as well as some other signs on the ground he couldn't quite make out. He followed them to some more bushes, coming across a mud covered... something, and another pawed male Soquili with hair like a mane. The mud covered creature wasn't making any aggressive movement so he decided he would just watch for the moment, he never liked to attach an innocent so he couldn't jump to any conclusions.

Wolfwood wasn't sure why the other was backing. He wasn't here to harm anyone, just warn them! "No... go!" he called out, a bit of mud dripping into his eye, causing him to stumble a bit again, his head spinning on a half swivel. "Bad...thing.... there...." he tried to gesture but until he was able to get his head on right, almost quite literally, he wasn't exactly a pleasant sight to behold. "No... go!" he repeated again, this time more forceful.
Inside the cabin, Lullaby had admittingly fallen asleep. After having wrestled with her 'captor' and got thrown inside a closet, kicking for a bit, the 'old mare' simply lost energy, shut her eyes to breath and well.... had a napcidental. Still, nap aside, now feeling refreshed, the mare was able to use her front hooves and get the door open, taking a long slow moment to stretch herself out and limber back up before realizing what time it was. "Oh, Ro should be here soon." she said softly to herself, a faint smile spreading across her muzzle. "I should see about...helping clean up this mess..." she pondered to herself.

Ro didn't move, he couldn't move, though he tried to get his legs to work, it spoke... it... SPOKE?! ... "no..go where?" he asked, stepping forward "Are you ok?" he asked before his stomach turned a little bit when the other's head spun on a swivel, how did that not HURT? He felt rather queasy watching the other but it seemed harmless enough, just.. looked scary. "what bad thing? where?" he asked, eyes wide, he had to go to check on 'grandma' "I'm sorry, there's someone i need to get to, she may be in trouble if there's a bad thing" he said, making off in the direction he knew 'grandma' lived.

Lynx almost rushed forward when the apparition moved towards the maned soquili again but it spoke, it almost seemed like it was warning the other Soquili, perhaps this wasn't the wolf he was looking for, maybe it had seen the evil creature. He had noticed a hut not too far off and this other soquili mentioned someone he needed to see, so instead of following the pair, he headed straight to the hut that he had thought was empty, he knocked on the door "Hello?, anyone here?" he asked, pushing the unlocked door open. "Hello?"

Wolfwood wasn't sure why the other was running and this upset him greatly. "W-wwait!" he called again, but with his vision, and head, literally still spinning, it was hard to see and his steps were clumsy. He stumbled over his paws again, causing him to fall far behind, and by the time he was finally able to stabilize himself to get a good run in, Ro had a fair bit of a head start already and it was going to take some time for Wolfwood to catch up.
Back at the cottage, Lullaby was just tidying up of the mess she had made in the poor native's cabin when she heard a knock. With her hooves clopping across the wooden floor, she was startled to see someone large and imposing pushing themselves in through the door. "Hmm, must not have locked that." she said to herself before nosing her shawl back comfortably over her shoulders. "Can I help you dear?" Lullaby asked, a bit confused, though a soft smile on her muzzle regardless.

Lynx baulked and stepped back out of the door when he hear the steps and the voice of an occupant. "I'm very sorry to intrude ma'am but there have been sightings of a wolf, possibly a shifter around here, there was a strange creature in the woods and i believe it was headed this way, i wanted to be sure you were safe" he said, waiting for her to invite him in now he knew someone was there, and unharmed.

Ro paused to let the muddy creature catch up when he heard it shout wait, but not for long, he reached 'grandma's' house in time to see a large, very large and bulky, pawed stallion, stepping into the hut. "H... HEY!" he yelled, "You.. bad thing... get away from grandma" he said, trying to be brave.

Lullaby blinked in confusion before stepping forward towards the door and peering out at this other soq. She frowned when he mentioned a wolf or shifter of some sort and thought of her mate and kids. Goodness, were they ok? Sighing, she shook her head. "I have not seen one around here. Nor have I seen or heard signs of any beast. I do appreciate the warning however." she said before pausing and looking out behind him. Ro should have been here by now, if not arriving soon. "Had you seen anyone on the way as you passed?" she asked, hopeful, until a flash of red arriving alerted her. "Oh, thank heavens, there you are!" she said, pushing through the door before she saw something else come up upon Ro as well.
Blinking, Wolfwood slid to a halt, skidding a bit from the mud before he saw that other he was 'chasing' now coming to a stop and yelling at a very large and pawed soq. Frowning, Wolfwolf let out a strange, struggled growl, his tail fluffing out. If this was the beast that had attacked that poor soq he saw earlier, then perhaps he was back to finish the job?!

Lynx spun around when he heard a voice behind him, ready to fight, his claws were unsheathed, so he didn't expect the slight shove as the mare pushed past him to go and greet the red maned Soquili
"Grandma!" called Ro, rushing to Lullaby "Are you ok? this guy said there was something bad here, is this big kitty threatening you?" he asked, panicked a little before he turned to the muddy Soquili "She looks ok, maybe we got here just in time" he said, still cautious of the big, clawed stallion
Lynx fluffed out a little at the apparition behind the maned soquili, "I came to see if everyone is ok, i'm not here to hurt anyone" he said, "That thing though, im not sure" he said, pointing a paw at Wolfwood

Lullaby ran forward to nuzzle Ro, glad to see him well. "Oh I'm fine dear. I haven't seen any terrible monsters about." she said softly, before glancing back at Wolfwood. Something about him seemed sad and she peered at him, taking a step forward. He looked like he wanted to say something but was scared. "What is it dear?" she asked, not seeming to be phased by the strange neck wound he had.
Wolfwood blinked. This was the mare he was sure he saw get thrust into the closet. HE then looked towards the bigger soq and a shiver ran down his spine. Oh if only Umbra was here.... "Danger.... you.... saw... trapped." he spat out brokenly.
Lullaby blinked, confused still. She tilted her head. "I'm not dear...."
"Closet...... I saw.... Shadow of creature." Wolfwood spoke again. "Big....monster." he finished.
Lullaby blinked more, then let out a soft laugh, stepping forward to nose the big creature. "I'm afraid you are mistaken. You see.... I was helping the native with some tasks. I opened a storage door and their cleaning supplies fell out atop me. A mop. As I was trying to put them back.... well these clumsy hooves of mine...." she shook her head. "I had too much on my mind. I didn't pay attention. I tripped and then the door shut on me. I didn't have the energy to get myself back out at first." she admitted, a small shepeish grin.
Wolfwood, who was naturally always confused, was even more confused. "No.....monster?" he blinked himself, looking back at the big soq.
Lullaby followed his gaze towards Lynx and offered a kind smile. "Surely this soft and mistaken creature isn't the monster you've been hearing about...is it?"

Ro nuzzled her back, relieved she was ok, he looked back at the strange, muddy, impaled soquili as it conversed with his 'grandma' and somewhat explained. "Awwwe, he was trying to warn me of a bad thing, but it was all just a misunderstanding" he said, before going over to wolfwood and picking out a few flowers from his basket. "Here, these are for you, thank you for being so good" he gave the flowers to wolfwood.
Lynx just stood there and blinked while the whole thing unfolded in front of him. Before turning to Lullaby "as your uh... grandson?... said, i think this whole thing was a misunderstanding" he cleared his throat "i think this fellow needs a bath, it seems he isnt the big bad wolf i thought i was hunting after all, im glad, he seems nice enough" if a bit alarming to look at, he thought.
Ro piped up "hey granny, is there any tea? Im sure the person whos hut this is wouldnt mind...." he coughed "it ee clean up after ourselves that is" he chuckled and walked towards the entrance of the hut before turning to Lullaby "oh these are for you" he used his paws and put his baskets at her feet, filled with baked goodies and paw picked flowers.
