Asim like his brother grew up to a loving family. Technically being the first born, Asim was given a great deal of love from his mother, even if she couldn't be with them always. It was a simple life for many years, that is until his brother's powers manifested for the first time. It was an exciting time to be sure, they had known they were demigods, but this was the first real proof of such a thing. His brother had always been a kind soul, and it was no surprise that his powers revolved around helping people.

It would have been a lie to say that Asim wasn't at least a little jealous of Amir's powers, but he was sure his own would surface with time, and it was quickly forgotten. That is until Asim's own powers had manifested in the worst of ways. Like his brother, he'd attempted to heal a helpless animal, only to decay it into death. It was a shock, and quickly made Asim feel like something was wrong with him. His mother was a goddess of healing, and he could only cause death.

Once his mother found out, she became a little more distant at first, before she finally confided in Asim what was going on in the world and what she needed of him. Accepting that his power was only suited to help such a thing, Asim agreed and became helping her with things here and there. Nothing major, and always kept from Amir for it was determined he was much too soft for this sort of thing.

Eventually they moved to America and Asim continued helping his mother as best he could. Becoming more of a shut in, it was usually only his family that saw him for any extended period of time, but still, it was better than the alternative. The less people he interacted with, the less people he could hurt. No, his abilities were best saved for the fiends and monsters that roamed the world.
