Yari Anani is ten-years-old in this thread of bio storyline. He bought his second surfboard during this, which is at ten-years-old. (His player is not only ten, if anyone's wondering. This is bio of the character.)
Yari, his Dad, and his baby sister arrive on the beach scene with a picnic set, foods and drinks, and beach toys, such as a frisbee, sandcastle set, volleyball for the beach courts, etc. Yari takes his volleyball to the sandy courts while his baby sister and Dad set up the picnic area nearby.

Yari practices his volleyball serve near the volleyball courts, with some distance from his baby sister so she doesn't get hit by the ball. Like the instructor taught him, he practices tossing the ball up with his left hand, then touching or catching the ball with his right hand. "I gotta improve at this. I'm very bad at it." Yari's Dad: "Do you want to try out for volleyball next school year?" Yari: "Yes! If I get any good at this." Mister Anani: "Well, you don't have to be the best. As long as you get okay at it you'll make the team." Yari: "Good. Because I only have this one summer to get it right to join." Yari keeps practicing serving the volleyball for a while: .
Yari sees an available volleyball net, so asks his Dad, "Do you think people will mind if I practice hitting the ball at and maybe even over the net?" Yari's Dad: "It's a public court, if it's available, have fun. Maybe you'll end up having your first game." Yari runs over to the net with his volleyball, smiling, then tosses the ball up, and hits it toward the net, it's his first time trying to serve all the way through: . Sure, he doesn't get the ball over, but it hits the net from a good distance more than he expected to get that close to a successful serve, so he starts to feel confident, and even starts feeling self-esteem.

Yari tells his stream camera with a toothy grin, looking down to it, "Maybe the ball didn't go over the net, but that was my first ever serve, and I think it was pretty good for a first time. I'm only going to get better from here. Just starting is rock-bottom, so I've got quite the ocean to swim through to reach the surface. I understand full well that I just started, and don't expect a lot of success this early." It's revealed he's talking to his baby sister, because she ran after him. Yari's Dad gives him a beach ball, "This'll work for her to play." Yari teaches his baby sister the basics of serving with the soft beach ball she's less afraid of hitting her. She quickly learns it doesn't hurt to be hit by, and starts smiling as she practices serving.
She practices serving with the beach ball while he practices with the volleyball, making sure they always serve from the same side of the net, with their Dad keeping her from getting too close to the real ball so she doesn't get hit with the harder one and cry. Yari and his Dad make sure they praise her volleyball learning and improvements: "Good job, Maraca! You're doing really great for a beginner!" They practice their serves for a while, going from one side of the net to the other, back to the first side, etc. The two siblings with a very big age gap have a lot of fun improving gradually at volleyball serving, both increasing in confidence and self-esteem.
Yari learns that fish surfboards, unless larger than normal like his, are really best for intermediate and expert surfers, but that his is okay for him as a beginner because it's a wider board: . He learns how to tell fish surfboards apart from other surfboard types, and that fish surfboards usually have a swallow tail at the back, which looks like an open fish mouth to eat bait of a fisherman. He finds the fish surfboards really cool after knowing more about their anatomy, and all of it's purposes. He also finds it cool that his surfboard is a fish one, because experts use these, even though his is designed that beginners can, too.

Yari chooses to listen to the advice, and does a criss-cross pattern of base wax, then circular-applies more wax. He then applies tropical top coat wax the same ways.
