Insidious Insects (18) : In the first week of July, the area around the tree is just buzzing. The call of the cicadas is loud and droning, and it’s constant. You start to hear it all over town, too. All sorts of insects seem attracted to the strange pods, and it’s not uncommon to find nearly any species curiously investigating. If you listen closely, you notice something else strange–it’s not just the bugs that you see making the familiar call of the cicada. It seems like it’s coming from inside the pods, too. Any pod that wasn’t leaking sap suddenly begins to snap open, and giant cicadas, crawl out. Their full wingspan can reach up to a foot and they’re hungry–and angry. It seems like the pods that were leaking sap were slowly rotting, but the ones that didn’t leak were being eaten from the inside out–and now that the cicadas have run out of food, they’re out for anything they can find. Though there are several notable differences between these insects and the common cicadas, their low, chirping wail makes them easy to find–as well as the fact that they spit acid. These bugs are incredibly hostile and will attack indiscriminately, powered or unpowered, human or alien, day or night. They have a protective shell that makes them easy to crush but they’re hardly the most menacing foe you’ve faced–but if they reproduce, you could be in some real trouble. Better to crush them now before they become Destiny City’s next invasive species…
Note: These creatures are a violent alien species that are aggressive and eager to destroy. They will attack everyone and everything within sight. The insects can fly, spit acid, and will try to burrow into the ground to hide. They are very fast and difficult to see. This RP can be used as a battle requirement for a character, separate from your ‘one youma battle’ per stage if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered and interacting with another player’s powered character for it to count. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.
Large, unsightly, leaking fruit.
It didn’t make any sense of thim that a random old tree in the park suddenly started producing these things, nor that these things grew as big as they did. It didn’t make any sense that they leaked or that they seemed to move and shake on their own. He didn’t like any of it, so he was here to investigate.
“These can't possibly be from here,” he mused to himself as he leaned over one.

Silistra frowned as she looked at the thing hanging from the tree and the figure who had said that this thing wasn't from here. "That isn't necessarily true a lot of things from earth have been affected by the nega energy and who knows what else." She said with a sigh. "This city is a hot bed for weird things." She said softly. She didn't trust the thing at all. "Do you know what it is?" She asked in a soft tone she didn't want to wake it up if it was a creature that was going to attack them.

The page nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound of someone else’s voice. He’d been too engrossed in looking at the strange fruit that he didn’t register the other power signature nearby.
Glancing toward them, Kiringul sized them up with a quirk of his brow.
“No clue,” he answered without really thinking, then quickly followed up with, “You’re a kid.” He sounded half-surprised, half-confused at the fact. “You’re a kid? With powers? Like me?” If he counted as someone “with powers” considering the only powers he was aware of was changing into this outfit and teleporting himself to his wonder in who-knows-where.
“And what's that about weird things? You mean like 'alien' weird or just...this powered stuff kinda weird?”
Beside him, the pod he'd been looking at was slowly starting to sway.

Silistra blinked and blinked again "Well I'm a teenager I wouldn't call myself a kid, but I suppose yes I'm Silistra squire of Saturn and who might you be?" She asked in a soft tone. She was baffled by him calling her a kid. She nodded "Both, agents of the negaverse and sometimes dark mirror senshi or even corrupt senshi can cause trouble for the city that's why white moon senshi and knights patrol the city." She watched the pod moving "Ummm maybe we should move away from that thing, I'm not sure if this is safe.." She frowned she didn't really do attack magic so this was not a comfortable situation for her to be in.

Kiringul squinted at the thought of him considering teenagers “kids” now, and suddenly he felt very, very old.
“Sorry. Uh, Kiringul, a Cosmos page.” It was still strange to introduce himself by this name, but thankfully the more he came to accept his new role the easier it became. He listened to her explain a bit more about the strange things in the city, noting various words that he didn’t recognize and committing them to memory. He figured he would encounter all this sooner or later, so he didn’t interrupt her to clarify what each one was.
He followed her gaze to the moving pod nearby, and the sight of it swaying made him take a few involuntary steps away from it.
“That sounds like a good idea to me. Let’s g–”
CRACK.
The pod split open, and out wriggled the giant head of a giant cicada.

Silistra was glad they agreed but it seemed her thought process was too late the creature was already coming out of the pod. "Uh oh." She said and hurried to move backward and fell over a root and fell on her butt and looked on in horror as she was helpless before the giant bug. At least she would be able to bind their wounds when this was all over but they needed to take out this creature first or get away from it quickly. "Umm, any idea?" She asked the other figure that was with her they hadn't had time for real introductions. They had only just met. Then it occurred to her he was only a page. She scambled up and went to strike at the bug with her lamp. "Come on let's get out of here." Her magic was for healing not harming so she had no magic to use on the bug only the strength she had she being a squire which was more than that of a page.

Kiringul watched while wearing a mix of shock, disgust, and terror as Silistra fell over. He had only thought to sidestep away from the bug, but she had the misfortune of losing her footing in her attempt to get out of the way.
“Not really, no,” came his response, his voice a pitch higher than normal given his state of duress. There wasn’t much he could do–he had a cone for a weapon, and while it was good enough to swat a regular cicada it was too small to be useful against these things. Still, after delaying the bug by swatting it with her lamp he decided to try and punt it as hard as he could.
Lucky hit–he sent it flying in some random direction.
“Yeah, I like that plan. Let’s go.”

Silistra was so happy that he agreed they should get out of here away from this cicada if she wanted to call it that since it was way to big in her viewpoint to be that. She grabbed his hand and started running away from the mutant bug. She was happy neither of them had actually been hurt in this mess. She hadn't been expecting this and now she wondered if the merchant was eating baby cicadas and if that was the case more power to him for eating them before they were old enough to cause harm to members of the city. Once they were far enough away that she felt safe she turned to check on Kiringul. "Are you alright?" She asked in a soft tone.

It was only after they stopped running that he noticed that his foot actually wasn’t all that okay, though he imagined he could muscle through the pain just fine. At her question he nodded toward his foot.
“The pod was harder than the average soccer ball, I guess. Maybe stubbed a toe?”
Or possibly worse. He didn’t really want to think about all the other possibilities. All he knew right then was that it hurt, and once the adrenaline completely wore off he imagined he’d be needing some ibuprofen and either an ice pack or a hot pack.

Now this was something Silistra could handle "Here let me see I can bind your wound." She braced herself for the pain of the small wound but she didn't mind taking on his pain it was what she felt was her mission in life. Silistra’s oil lamp flares brighter when she channels her magic; the bandages around her staff uncoil and magically wrap around a target of her choice. The bandages will gravitate towards any injury and tightly bind them. Once binding an injury, the magic will begin to accelerate the healing. At this stage, the magic can heal small wounds (such as small cuts, gashes or bruising) fully if at least half her magic pool is spent on any one target. Larger injuries will have increased recovery but even if she uses her full magic pool she will not be able to fully heal them. Her magic comes with a price; for as long as she is casting, she will feel the pain of whatever injury she is healing. This does not cause real damage to her, but the sensation is uncomfortable. She has a magic pool of 30 seconds and can only heal one person at a time.

He blinked and awkwardly put his slightly injured foot forward. What he saw next surprised him, and words were quite literally lost to him for the number of seconds the bandages magically wrapped themselves around his foot.
The throbbing pain quickly dulled and disappeared, and when the bandages let go he wiggled his toes and found that he was now perfectly fine.
“Useful,” he said, the surprise becoming a look of gratitude. “Thanks, I owe you one.” Glancing down at his cone, he wondered if it might ever become anywhere near as useful.

Silistra shook her head "Think nothing of it, I was where you are not long ago, it is hard starting out as a page and feeling helpless to help, finding other knights to train with is a good way to feel more confident and grow stronger." She offered gently.

”Thanks. Yeah, a friend of mine actually gave me kind of a crash course in this knight business. Lots to learn.” He sighed, fiddling with his cone. There really was a lot, but he liked to think he was getting used to it. The more he was exposed to during these patrols, the better.
“I'll get there, though, like you said."
The page considered her words for a long moment. He wasn't one to normally ask for help but in this case, again...the more exposure, the better.
"Say, would you mind having a newbie like me tag along when you go out on these, uh, patrols? For lack of a better word. Or is that what you call these, too?"

Silistra nodded and said "I am glad you had someone to help you, I got lucky and met a brave knight while on patrol. Yes, I'm sure you will." She paused and blinked "Are you sure you want to tag along with me? I am terrible at combat, combat normally finds me I don't tend to go looking for it." She said blushing a little.

Kiringul waved his hand a bit dismissively, not at all buying what she was saying about herself. “All said and done you’ve got some healing magic on you. Two’s usually better than one when it comes to these patrols, right?”
He looked down at his now healed foot again, relieved he wouldn’t have to put up with the pain at all thanks to Silistra.
“I won’t force you, though. We could always just run into each other again. That’s pretty much all I’m counting on at the moment for anyone I meet.”
