Annie sat in the Livingroom of the Reis household, waiting for Sahara to arrive. Frankly, she knew she could just go wait in her room but was too lazy to really get up. It was warm today and it was cool in the living room so here is where she would stay. For now, she was laying across the couch with her legs propped up. “Du du du duuuuuuu….” she kicks her feet as they dangle off the edge after having moved so that she was sitting upside down.

Everest walked into his house, putting his umbrella into the corner by the door, before running a hand through his hair and kicking off his shoes in favor of his house slippers. He didn’t notice Annie at first, but he caught her kicking feet out of the corner of his eyes.

“Annie, I know Sahara isn't here? How did you even get in?”

He walked into the living room, arching a brow at the girl who was sitting upside down on the couch. He honestly hadn’t seen her in months with everything he had to do from prom, award ceremonies, senior week, graduation and college decisions. He spouted up in the last few months, no longer 5’8”, now standing at just under 5’11” but barely.

She almost jumped at the strange voice that suddenly came out of nowhere, rolling her eyes to where the sound came from, only to nearly do a double take, “E-Ever?!” Annie cleared her throat, “Don't worry about it.” she turned her attention back to the ceiling, resuming her feet kicking. Considering how she hasn't seen him in months, she took the time to at least give him a rather quick appraisal, “Oh, you grew finally~ Congrats!” not really trying to be an a*****e but at least she wasn't a bumbling shy mess any more.

Everest rolled his eyes when she told him not to worry about it, choosing to ignore her momentarily confused expression. He plopped down on the couch, “right … lemme just not worry about how you got into my house when no one is home. You know breaking and entering is a crime.”

He leaned back crossing his ankles and shaking his head, “ … you could congratulate me on something that actually matters … but sure fall back on insults, immaturely familiar.”

He got up and headed to the kitchen, not insulted, but bored by the interaction. He wondered if his sister’s friend would ever grow up.

Annie sighed and brought up the key Sahara gave her, “That's how I got in….” it seemed like something was different but she couldn't place her finger on it. “Fine, I'm sorry ... .Congratulations on making it out of high school Ever. Really, high school sucks a**.” She would know, having just graduated not too long ago. She got up to follow Ever, being bored herself. “What are you going to college for?” She knew he got into DCU with a full ride, but didn't know what his major was going to be. She leaned inside the entrance to the kitchen, arms casually crossed.

Everest was surprised that Annie decided to follow him, he raised a brow at her, but pulled out a second bottle of water and handed it too her. “Yes, it did suck and I went to a military school so you can only imagine.”

He opened the water and took a swig leaning against the counter, “Im going to be an interpreter. I like language and different cultures its my thing … like racing is yours.” Of course he knew about her racing as Sahara insisted Annie be the one to teach her to drive … their parents refused because laws, but he was sure Annie took her driving anyway.

“Thanks,” he said, acknowledging her congratulations after he answered her questions.

“Still debating if I want to live on campus though,” he said, looking thoughtful eyes downward, not really looking at anything.

Annie gladly accepted the water bottle, wincing at the mentioning of military school. “I went to an all girl school so I kinda know the feeling. Her eyes had a bit of a sparkle to them, “Oh wow! That seems way more interesting than Sports physiology~ I think an interpreter would suit you.” Annie knew Ever was smart, combining that with the languages he and his sisters already spoke, a recipe for success. “You're welcome~” See? She could be tolerable….Sorta.

But why was she trying anyway? Sure she could admit that she had harbored a crush on Eve for quite some time now, but she shouldn't be trying like said crush was going to go somewhere [or that he would even acknowledge it].

“I think living on campus would be nice. I stay between my parents house but considering how my dad is [wow it felt weird to say dad], I think having my own space would be the more appropriate route.”

Everest chuckled and looked to Annie clearly amused, “its interesting, but not more than sports physiology and you have to be pretty smart and a determined studier to do science. Ive got a knack for language, polyglot and all.”

Ever nodded, “yes, but Im not sure if the firstie rule is a thing. I know a bunch of colleges have it, no cars for freshmen. I'd rather not be without my car. Not a problem if I'm home. I’ll have to comb through the packets to be sure. Though I’ve only a few more days to make a decision.”

Annie did not think about that, but she supposed the firstie rule could definitely be a thing. “Well, that would suck if it was a thing, but I guess I can understand why it's usually done.” This was….Nice. It's been a minute since she could converse with Ever without being an a** or well, being herself. But it was kind of weird Sahara hasn't shown up yet. She took a sip of her water, building up the courage to ask her next question, “Are you going to be busy right now? Did you want to hang and play something till your sister gets here?” An olive branch of sorts. In reality, she wanted to get to know Ever more and to maybe make a nice friendship out of it.

“Yeah, it's like you've only been driving for a bit and they take away you freedom so to speak.” He finished his water, also wondering where his sister was. It would be weird that she’d make plans with Annie and they be awol.

He finished his water and tossed the bottle in the recycling, before shrugging, “I’m not doing anything.” He smirked, “my parents got me a PS5 for graduating, want to check it out. I got it set up and everything in my room. I even got a gaming chair.”

Gaming wasn’t his thing, but the setup was pretty cool and he spent a lot of his summer thus far learning the in and outs. “Come on, kick my butt in something while you wait for my sister.”

“What?! A PS5?! Hell yeah! Lead the way~”

Her dad had a whole gaming room with all sorts of consoles, something she definitely enjoyed whenever she was able to wrestle him away. “Do you have the new God of War?” She followed him upstairs to his room, and instantly made her way to the bed, leaping on it like she would in Sahara’s room. “So comfy!” She sat up with a smile, “So, what are we gonna play?”

Ever headed up ahead of Annie, opening the door for her and going over to his PlayStation and booting it up. He turned and shook his head seeing Annie lounging on his bed. “I dont have much, but there is money on my account if you want to try something. I honestly haven't been sure what to buy.”

He plopped down in his chair, “do you want to play God of War. I could get that, I've really no preference.”

“Oooooh yessss! I can pay you back” well, her dad can pay him back but still. She had access to his checking account and a couple of games was not going to put even a dent in the amount that was on there. “You’re going to like God of War, Kratos is a bad a**! Also definitely video game daddy as well~ At least all of my other friends agree with me.” yep, Kratos could definitely just…Well she’s not going to go there. Once the game was downloaded, she kept quiet so he could be just as awed at the opening scene as her.
