Nature’s Boon (10) : Flowers are blooming at an incredible place across the city and sometimes barren patches of grass can be overrun with flowers overnight. There have been heavy showers and a high pollen count but there doesn’t appear to be any other explanation. It is not uncommon to find trees with nearly double the leaves they usually have, with vines twisting up houses, flowers covering the front yard, or local fruits to have doubled in size. This isn't the first time Destiny City has seen such oddities, and there doesn’t seem to be any negative effects to this; scientists are questioning climate change. Or is it radiation??
Strix wasn't really a botanist. Not exactly. They were a gardener, sure, but they weren't so incredibly interested in flowers they could've told a caprice morning glory from an inkspots morning glory. Flowers was flowers. It was another sibling's fixation to really know and understand all that; Strix was a reasonable second-place. Not that the arguments they'd had about moss really made them look any saner, but those were usually not in public, which meant it was fine. Probably. Probably? Probably.
Even so, even with that, they'd gotten distracted from what they'd been planning to do as Pax at eightish in the morning (not anything despicable or stuff like that!) (they'd mostly just been going for a run) (the hair weighed a lot, okay, and it was still throwing them off even months later, and they wanted to get used to it more, okay??) (which had translated to going for a morning run, which had made sense at the time.) to examine the thriving patch of greenery that'd been a mostly-empty lot maybe just a few days ago.
Huh.
It didn't feel overwatered or dying or transient in any way, shape, or form. It was very definitely Real Plants. For whatever that meant, at least. Pax rocked back and forth on their heels, considering, and tucked a flower behind their ear that they thought was particularly nice. They could bring that one home -
Ugh, wait, there was someone coming, wasn't there? They didn't want to talk, and sometimes people out at this time wanted to make conversation while the city was still full waking up. Ew.

Dumuzi knew nothing about plants.
When he went to the park, he was going on a run. When he was walking through a neighbourhood, even one that'd be home to a garden walk, he was actually not walking and he was definitely running. When he was powered, doing the same? ... Well, he was still running. Dumuzi could never really go back to the competitions he used to do these days for a multitude of reasons, but that didn't mean he had given up running. Running was what made him feel the most ******** alive.
Anyway, the greenery had barely punctured his notice at all until he stumbled over a very suddenly present root, and he yelped a moment of surprise before straightening and whipping around to glare at it like it was a ******** threat.
It was not. It was just a root.
But... there were an awful lot of green things around, and that was enough to shake him out of his runner's trance. That... wasn't right. Well, when he thought about it, he was pretty sure he overheard his sister and his sibling chatting about some strange greenery observation and something about ... radiating? Radiation? Nem had seemed incredulous at that being the theory, but Shikora couldn't come up with a better one.
Anyway, he felt it.
The real threat.
Dumuzi ran for that threat, and perhaps Pax would find themselves fortunate in that Dumuzi had no interest in chatting. Punching, though? Maybe.
Pax was generally pretty bad about getting absorbed in their own thoughts, so while they had noticed the oncoming aura approaching at maximum speed, they'd also immediately stopped thinking about it and gone back to thinking about plants. It was going to be someone else's problem! In this case, 'someone else' was unfortunately 'them, less than a minute later', and 'problem' was 'getting punched, hard'.
They stumbled backwards, almost lost their balance, but didn't fall; the yelp they let out was halfway between actual pain and incredulous. He'd punched them?? Just come out of nowhere and punched them?? What the hell. Who did that. Okay, Pax kind of did that, but only with magic, so it didn't count? Their magic wasn't leaving bruises or breaking anything unless someone had some kind of seizure or whatever. Ow! Ow!! That hurt.
You could just do that?? Most of the time people usually started out fights with magic. You could just do that??? That wasn't making conversation! That was worse. They would've preferred him trying to do niceties over this.
"What the - the hell," they snapped, voice jittering, "is wrong with - wrong with you," and pivoted on their heel to try and drag their fingers across his shoulder, muttering their attack under their breath. They'd just leave! Fine! Whatever! No skin off their back if they had to go find some other plants, it was a big city! But if he was going to be like that, so were they!!

Pax Reverberation For the next 30 seconds, all noises the target hears and vibrations they experience will begin reverberating within the target, as if their body was a tuning fork; if the target is unable to hear noises, vibrations will suffice. This is painful, disorienting, and makes distinguishing outside noise difficult; it may also cause temporary loss of some proprioception. At player discretion, this attack may result in lingering deep-tissue pain and tinnitus. This attack lasts for 30 seconds.

The yelp gave Dumuzi a surge of victory that was likely unhelpful to keeping his wits about him, but he didn't necessarily quit his pursuit of them. So far as he was concerned, they deserved it. They all deserved it, considering they all thought that taking people's souls out and leaving them to die was a ******** good idea to any level.
It was not.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" Dumuzi echoed back, watching as they reached up to drag their nails across his shoulder and not attempting to stop them beyond standing up just a bit straighter -- that height differential sure had its advantages -- and letting the scratch fall where it may. He'd deal with it, he had carried a snake and a puppy and also he had been to the goddamn Olympics and ran so hard he bled.
What he wasn't prepared for, though, was the actual extent of what their magic did, and suddenly his heartbeat was unfairly loud in his own ears. He smacked his ear to make it stop, but that only made it worse, and his head was ringing unpleasantly in a way he seemed incapable of stopping.
"You're the one on--" ow!
"Soulstealer--" what the ******** all his rage and inability to actually speak, Dumuzi swung again, even if his aim had gone off the rails this time. He, frustrated, swung again.
Okay, see, now they really couldn't leave, because he would probably chase them, and they ran really fast but not that fast, and where he'd punched them was throbbing with pain. Pax didn't get punched too often! They generally preferred it that way! ...wait, maybe they could leave, they had a head start while their magic was working - and they should probably cut their losses before he broke their nose or something - actually that made a lot of sense!! -
"Go away," Pax snapped, stumbling backwards over their own feet to try to avoid his punches - the second one had clipped them in a way that was going to sting - and almost tripping over a stray root. Then they turned on their heel and ran as soon as they'd regained their balance. Not worth it at all! They barely even lost any pride this way, so... it was - it was fine, right?

Dumuzi absolutely wanted to chase them. He didn't really know what giving up meant, and throughout his life, he had only given up when forced by something else -- the He-Man competition, his career in the Olympics, and now, well, evidently this bullshit was going to be included in it.
"Get back!" ow! "Here!"
He didn't want to let them run. In theory, he was plenty fast as a former track star with legs for days he could get fast enough to catch them if he wanted to. He could! Dumuzi knew it, even though he was so disoriented that his head was spinning. He started after them, and the sound of the wind against his ears made everything even worse.
Dumuzi yelled about it, but it only made his headache worse.
Daekie
I'm good with finning it here! especially since I see you got them grown haha, congrats!!
