Quote: Curious Findings (17) : Maybe it’s got something to do with the weather, or the construction, or all the other general oddities that seem to occur in Destiny City, but for the first time in nearly fifty years, the historic tree in one of Downtown Destiny City’s parks has woken up. While the tree was known for being alive and growing despite a lengthy hibernation, this is the first year that it’s sprouted leaves–but that’s not all! The unique tree has now also started growing strange pods. Because of the trees legacy–and not at all because of the oddity–the area has been taped off, but that really hasn’t been enough to stop anyone curious enough to investigate. The tree itself is several feet wide and stands roughly fifty feet tall; it’s branches spread significantly and seem like they can hold a lot of weight–which is good, because the pods growing on it have a hard brown shell and can grow up to the size of a soccer ball. Sometimes, the larger ones seem to tremble and shake in place. Maybe it's an animal trying to nibble? Maybe it’s just the wind? Maybe it’s something else. The pods can be pulled from the tree or collected from the ground; the shells are incredibly difficult to crack open, and some of them leak a strange, acidic sap that is strong enough to cause skin agitation–and in some cases there are even reports that it’s burned through wood or fabric. Sometimes, the healthier looking pods that aren’t leaking anything even seem to shake on their own, which is a mystery in itself. Another mystery is why Almadel seems so keen to trade for them…
The general was planning this return trip to see if he couldn't get more, now that it seemed someone was looking to collect these things. There had to be some value to them, and maybe he'd find out, so he figured to get more. The previous night he'd gone out to grab some but now he had a container with him to put them in rather than using subspace as a place to store them. As he got closer he could feel some energy signatures in the area. Interesting, hopefully no one decided to bother him tonight. He wasn't interested in some sort of fight.

To be honest, he wasnt sure why he wanted to come back here, maybe it was for that merchant. He wanted to see if there was anything else he could get out of him while he was here. Maybe some information next time on just why he wanted these stupid things. Maybe it was something he ate? Some sort of weird alien delicatcy? The thought made the poor senshi shudder as he bent to pick up another one of those pods. He felt a pretty big signature behind him, which did make him stiffen slightly. It was chaos, but this meant that he would have to be all formal and saluting. Ugh.... He just wanted to collect these things and leave. Villon turned around, about to give a bored acknowledgement when he saw who it was. Ahhhh, some one that wasn't annoying. The senshi placed his fist over his heart and bowed slightly at the approaching Beni, "Wasn't expecting you to be here...I was actually picking these for you to study." The monotone of his voice suggested boredom or disinterest, but that was just how he spoke. Even when he wasn't powered.

"Please, no formalities, it'll make me feel old." He really wasn't much for the formalities, unless it was in large groups, he tried to be as lax in such things. This was one part of his life where he didn't need to deal with all the pomp and proper manners and such. They were fighting a war anyway...where did manners come into it? In the military yes, perhaps, but they were not the U.S military with fully trained soliders and the like. Most of them started out as teenagers and got their hands bloody and their bodies broken slowly over time. He wasn't big on the manners like some others might be, though he also knew when and where they were needed.
"I've already grabbed a few myself, I'm back to grab more since it seems someone is collecting them. I'd like to find out from them what these pods are, given the stories I've heard about them." Rolling his shoulders as he closed the distance between himself and the corrupt.
Reaching out towards the tree. "I've heard some stories about them as well, so I'm hoping the merchant can explain things." He was looking for answers, or rather he would be looking for answers.

Villon blinked but ceased his bowing, turning back to the tree as well. I can still give you what I have. I dont think the wife would be happy if something came from it or if junior touched some of this sap." he could just imagine the hell he would have to pay if his son got hurt. Lily would be on his a** so fast he wouldnt be able to turn off the stream before he was getting his a** embarassed. Not that he was neglectful when watching Colin....He just knew his son and how curious he could be. "What stories have you heard?" He looked towards the general with something akin to curiosity and worry in his eyes. He didnt leave the pod he got earlier at home, but he needed to know if there was anything going on that would warrant him leaving these damned things on the ground where they belonged.

"I've heard the sap is like acid and the bugs inside of them are vicious." He answered after a moments hesitation, picturing Lily finding one of those things and a bug coming out of it. Lily would no doubt handle it, he knew her well enough by now, but he didn't think Villon would survive her upset over it. No, it wouldn't be good for him to bring any of those home. If the little one got ahold of them, worse than Lily facing one of them, there would be hell to pay.
"You should look into the person collecting them. That's the best we can do in order to remove them from the city and perhaps find some good use for them." Rather than leaving them to open and release those nasty little bugs into the city for everyone to deal with. There were so many pods he couldn't figure that going well for anyone at all. No doubt they'd hang around all summer and cause more chaos in the city as the spread out from this point.
"I'd burn everything if I could but I doubt that would go over well." And he was certain at least some cameras on store fronts would catch it as well.

Ugh, these pods were disgusting. Villon nodded in agreement, looking to the box of garbage bags he brought with him. "I wish we could just burn the entire tree down. But yeah, dont think it would do any good to expose ourselves to the news and the internet." he also didnt want to risk being reconized in the slightest. The last thing he needed was for Ryan to fuss him out about exposure and the like. There was also a risk of his other half seeing him for the monster that he really was. Yeah, lets not. He reached to pick more of the pods, a bit upset at how they were easily coming off now as opposed to when he was with Colin earlier. The fact that there was a person wanting to collect these things made him shudder. Who on Earth would want something like this?

"Even if we set it on fire it might get these thigns to leave their pods sooner, rather than later, and people would no doubt come out so they could put the fire out and save the tree." It was, over all, not a good idea even if he liked it. For once he wanted to burn a plant, a tree in this case, but he couldn't actually do it.
"The best we can do is try and collect as many as we can and hope they don't return." Though knowing the magic of this city, which by now he felt like he had some sort of grasp on, he was certain new pods would turn up by the end of tomorrow night. It wouldn't matter how many they removed and it made him dislike this situation even more. There was no way to stop these things till the city put an end to things for them.
"Some alien who visits every year around this time. He collects things and trades foor what he wants."

"Maybe we could take some out to a remote area and burn it there?" He was sure burning something where no one would care might help, and then they wouldn't risk being all on the news and whatnot. He continued to collect the pods, his face showing more and more disgust by the second. But at least the tree was starting to look a little less weighted down. His garbage bag was overfilled and he looked to Benni, "I cant carry anymore here, shall we take off and burn them some where? Not sure if I want to visit that alien again."

"I've yet to visit but I have a few I can bring him." He had some hanging about in subspace. The rest, those the other had collected, they should certainly burn.
"Yes, we should bring these to a place people aren't going to be so we can asfely brun them. We'll just need some way to start a fire." Which might mean powering down to buy a lighter of some sort and something like gasoline to feed the fire. It wasn't a bad idea and if done right, in two very different stores, it wouldn't look odd either to be buying those two such items.
"Somehow, despite the good we've done by removing these I'm certain more will turn up on the tree." Right until the alien left and the summer star festival ended. Then things would return to normal and these bugs would vanish with it, though some might turn back up around Halloween as well. At least if they did it would be better than spiders. He could deal without spiders...he'd take almost anything in place of spiders.
"How about the warehouses outside of the city, the abondoned ones."

Villon nodded in agreement, at least the tree was pruned for now. "That'll do." He gathered some more pods till his bag was super stuffed, looking to Beni, "I'll get a head start." He gave the shorter agent a tiny smile, hopping off.
