Tethys 1 It was a fine day in Matori and after a great surfing session at his favorite spot, he switched beaches and got his best two spear guns. He was supposed to meet Liylasa today and as his families larder was running low with how busy everyone was in the summer he thought she might like to accompany him for some spear fishing. It could be a bit dangerous but there were too of them. He was where they were supposed to meet now and he had brought a picnic lunch to sweeten the deal.

Liylasa was excited to try something new! She had never been spearfishing before, and getting to go with Tethys was an exciting new adventure! Wandering to the beach was always entertaining given she met most of her friends there. While she wasn't planning on meeting anyone new today, meeting up with Tethys again was equally as great.
"Tethyyyys," she called out, looking around in an attempt to find him. She'd worn a better swim top and shorts for the adventure so she was ready to go for fishing!

He heard his name float towards him on the wind before he looked around and saw his energetic friend coming towards him. He wasn't sure what he would do without her to give him an excuse to leave his parent's ranch. She took him on such wonderful adventures that he wanted to repay the favor.
"You ready to go?!" He asked excitedly. He loved the water and everything to do with it.

"Absolutely! I'm so ready to go we can do all the things! With the spears, of course. I promise not to stab you with it," Liylasa grinned, circling around him with spear gun in hand. She tried not to rush ahead of Tethys as they walked, not really knowing where she was going. It was super fun to try something new.
"So is there something specific you want to fish for? Or just trying to find anything interesting for your family?" she questioned, looking up at him.

He laughed freely and loudly. He loved her enthusiasm for life, it reminded him to not be so dour, not that he was to begin with but she shot everything full of lightning and sunshine.
"Well lets get to it!"
"We are looking for anything edible, so crabs and lobster, fish, small sharks or octopus, stuff like that, if it can go in a pot and is large enough it can go in the basket!"
He led her out to the water then they swam for the reef.

Liylasa waded into the water, hoisting her speargun up high as she attempted to locate something good. She would do well to help out Tethys however she could. She was very determined, and the determination would get her far obviously. She was pretty great after all. Liylasa brought the speargun down, stabbing into something and bouncing in the water as she pulled back.
"Oh....kelp?" she huffed, shaking it off her speargun. "Well that's no fun at all!" she continued to grumble.

He went far enough that he was swimming finally. It felt good to be submerged. He held his breath and dove with his spear gun down to where the rocks and cracks were. As it turned out, he didn't find anything to poke with his speargun but he found a fat oyster. He brought it to the surface and out of curiousity opened it up quick.
"Oh a pearl! How cool! Wonder how long he had been working on that." He paddled over to Liylasa to show her, it had a darkish tint too it. "A black pearl, very lucky!"

"Well you didn't find a fish but you found a treasure!" Liylasa laughed, clapping her hands together as she looked at the shiny pearl. She patted Tethys on the arm, grinning as she then splashed him with water before swimming away back down into the water to attempt the speargun once more. She took aim and launched it once more, hoping for something good!
"A fish!" she yelled as she came up out of the water, holding the wiggling blue fish out of the water. "Loooook!"

He yelled with delight and swam over to admire her newest catch. "Well thats way better than kelp, lookit how big it is! Great job!" He tucked oyster and pearl in the floating stuff holder and helped her with the fish. They got it off the spear and he looked at her and grinned. "My turn!" Before frolicing back out deeper to see what he could bring to the floating basket.
He came back up with a wry look on his face. "Well I caught a fish, but its so small we can use it for bait later." She had definitely won with her fish so far.

Liylasa patted his arm in reassurance, nodding knowingly as she looked at the tiny bait fish. They would get better things for sure, they just needed to keep trying. She tapped Tethys on the nose before going back under, kicking her feet as she swam farther down to look for even fancier fish between the rocks. Spotting movement once more she launched out the speargun, spearing two small fish in one! How cool!
"Look I got two in one!" Liylasa cheered as she came back up, waving her speargun around.

He came up from his dive with another small fish. "Looks like we will be good for bait for a while!" This was fun no matter what they caught. Though he did hope that there was more down there then fry bait.
He took the basket and dragged it over a ways. "Lets try over here, maybe we will get something different. I'm hoping for an octopus, they change color and put up a good fight if they are in the rocks."

"As long as it doesn't try to latch onto our faces!" Liylasa chuckled, following after Tethys as she placed the fish in their proper place. She swam around in a circle for a moment, attempting to find a good place to settle before she dove down once more into the water. Her hair was plastered all over her face, obscuring her vision even as she launched the speargun out once again. She hoped it didn't hit Tethys!
Her speargun hit something fairly solid, and panicked as she pulled it out of the water and struggled with it. "Shark shark little shark," she called, trying to get to Tethys.

He had come up from a dive with the same problem. "Liy I caught a little shark! Oh.. I see you did too!" That would be good for the larder, you had to cook sharks special to get the urea out of the flesh but his family were really handy with it. "Its going to be good eating at home!" He helped her with her shark first, avoiding the bitey end, then unstuck his own and put them in the basket. "Phew, I am looking forward to lunch after this but I am having so much fun, how about you?"

Liylasa breathed a sigh of relief as Tethys pulled the shark off, not so excited for that one. At least it would be a really useful catch, despite her overall nervousness she had when dealing with the creature. Getting bitten by a shark or watching Tethys getting bit was not on her agenda for the day. Being more careful as she swam down this time, she looked carefully over the rocks before launching out the speargun at the next moving object once again.
This time she saw the wriggling of many tentacles as she lifted her speargun out of the water, amazed when she'd snatched up two whole octopi! "Tethys look I got what you wanted!!"

He cheered! Octopi for dinner! It was one of his favorites. "You even got two! You are a pro and a natural at this! We will have to do this more often I think!"
He dove down and saw some tell tale antennae peeking out from underneat a rock. Ooh he thought. He reached a hand in gingerly and pulled out a great fat lobster. These were so good boiled. What a feast they were going to have, he would have to invite Liylasa over for it.
He popped out of the water. "Look! A big ol lobster!"
