Quote: It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored, even as he leaned forward and laced his fingers atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face. He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones. His table was somehow both simple and overwhelming; it was draped in a dark purple tablecloth, with extravagant embroidery in different designs. Scattered neatly atop the table was an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them. He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing that the barrier surrounding him rippled when his visitor entered, he smiled. He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes and greeted, in a silky voice, “Welcome.” Henny arrived as Oia this time, last time she had traded her skate board for the compass she wore and this time she had one of the strange pods to trade with the merchant. She smiled when he said welcome and she nodded and said "Thank you, I heard you wanted this." She said sitting the pod on the table. "I was wondering what you would trade me for it." She said looking around the table curiously. She wasn't sure what she wanted this time but she was sure it would be something kool. He had never disappointed her before.

Almadel eyed the pod she presented with great interest and smiled, visibly pleased with this offering. “Oh, this is a nice one. May I?” He waited only briefly to make sure that she wasn’t going to be offended to pick it up, and he drew it close to his face and turned it as he examined it. “Oh yes, this is very nice. I’ll trade you something lovely for this.” His eyes drifted to the compass she wore, and though he seemed to be considering it, he didn’t comment on it. “A Cosmos Knight like yourself, a traveler of the stars, yes? Or are you more Earth-bound? I’ve always been impressed with Cosmos Wonders. So unique. And lovely. Such as yourself, of course. I suspect you’ve got a taste for beautiful things. I’ve got some pretty Cosmos trinkets, would you be interested in browsing those?”

Henny nodded and handed it over "Yes of course." She transformed into Oia and smiled "I want to connect with my wonder more so yes I would love a cosmos trinket that would be really great thank you. I like earth well enough but I have never known my family on earth so I wonder if they aren't out there in the universe somewhere." She said looking up at the sky. She had heard stories about families separated by time and space. So who knew perhaps that was why she was left alone. She was meant to be the knight of Oia and not an earthling. It was a strange thought but Destiny City was a strange place so it was better not to think to hard on it. What would be would be.

“Do you spend much time at your Wonder? I’ve heard that’s the best way to connect with it,” he mused, already fishing through a collection of shiny little things. He pulled out a heart-shaped, pearlescent gemstone that glittered like the rainbow in a milky galaxy. “You haven’t known your family? I’ve heard of stranger things than kin being separated by a galaxy or two. And so many people come to Earth, perhaps some could leave as well?” He ran his fingers over the cool, smooth surface, and admired the five pointed star on the gemstone. “They say Cosmos’s Cauldron is at the heart of the stars. Do you think that’s a silly thing? I’ve heard many myths and legends. I got this from a Cosmos outpost once, a long time ago. They used to have all sorts of treasures. I’ve heard that if you wear this, you can feel the love from those you hold close, no matter how many stars separate you. Perhaps it would bring you some comfort?” MiddyGlow This necklace brings a peaceful, warm sensation to the wearer when they look at the stars. They will feel as though someone is looking back at them and thinking of them fondly.

Henny listened as she took the trinket and she laughed when they asked her if it was silly. "You know what not long ago I would have told you, you were crazy and it was more than silly, but this isn't your average fairytale my friend, so nothing can be ruled out in this city." She nodded thinking of how she had never had a family so something to give her comfort was a nice thing to have. "Thank you it is a very nice item and I will be glad to keep it with me forever." She felt like she could use the comfort to support her when she went to Oia next as a boost to her courage to go and deal with the problems she knew were on her world. She knew it was a mess that she was charged with cleaning up. She didn't remember anything about her home world but she felt a connection with it that meant a lot to her anyway. She turned back to the merchant and asked "So what do you want the pods for anyway?" She was really curious to find out what the big deal was about these things. She looked down at the table and everything he was offering and thinking of the strange pods he wanted it didn't really seem like a fair trade to her. So why did he want the weird shaking things in the first place? She wondered if he would answer her question or brush it aside for another time maybe he'd tell her next year. She hoped not the curiosity might kill her.

The merchant laughed; it was a sudden, pleasant sound. He didn’t seem too alarmed or jarred by her inquiries. “Well, I don’t know that you’d believe me if I told you, but I’ll give it a go anyway. I eat them.” He said it simply, maybe a bit bluntly, but he gave her a few seconds to let the answer sink in before he continued, “They’re a delicacy. For me, at least. Hearsay is that they are rather troublesome when a human is coming into contact with them, but honestly, any issues with them is probably just a defensive mechanism of the fruit. Which is what it is,” he assured. “But those toxins don’t bother me. I like the tingle. These were one of my favorite treats when I was small. It’s hard to find such comforts these days. I’ll go through great lengths to buy myself a bit of nostalgia. So it’s a very good trade for me. I’ve got more than I can eat now, so I’ll freeze these and have a nice little treat for myself. At least, until I can find another tree fruiting. They’re so rare.”

Henny laughed "I'll take your word for it thanks." With that, she took her new necklace and headed off. (Fin)
