Quote: The Caves (5) : To any explorers visiting the new Reservoir, they may find that just a bit away from the sandy water are a set of caves. Some of these connect back to the lake, but others rapidly plunge into darkness. It wouldn't be hard to get lost in here, but thankfully there are some very odd lights to help guide you out. If you turn off your light down some of these dark paths, you may find yourself surrounded by glowing pastel lights. A closer inspection reveals that you seem to be looking at some sort of glowing caterpillars. An internet search will reveal that Destiny City scientists have been researching the strange, unnamed creatures, but the articles are very limited. If you take them out of the cave they seem to shrivel up almost immediately. They’re neat, but clearly meant to be stay in their natural habitat. Larissa normally didn't explore caves either as a powered or civilian person, nor would she have brought her human camera in here with her either but eh had heard about the glowing caterpillars and had wanted to take some pictures. Sure, others had already done so and had posted them as well, but if they were related to anything magical, she wanted to have some evidence that could be studied later! It was why she was in this damp, somewhat cold cave by herself. While her magic wouldn't be of any use in here unless she got jumped by a Youma or Agent, she wanted to stay powered in case she needed to break or jump up high. And if she was ambushed by chaos of course. While this time of year wasn't usually a time that chaos appeared to be thriving, weird things tended to happen, so she wanted to keep on her guard just in case. Which is why she almost jumped out of her skin when she suddenly felt the presence of another Order. She quickly let out a sigh of relief that they weren't on the other side, but perhaps she was just a bit too on edge.

Anniliese wasn't really a fan of caves, she wasn't a fan of dark damp places. So why she was in a dark damp looking cave? She really did not have any idea. She just knew. She just knew that she wanted to see the glowing caterpillars that everyone has been talking about. Researchers had been investigating the caterpillars. They have come to learn that the unnamed caterpillars can't be taken out of the cave. According to them the caterpillars shrieval up and die when outside of the cave. Anniliese didn't want to take them out of the cave, much less touch them. Eww, no creepy crawly insect. She made her way down the dark cave and stopped. Was someone else there? "Hello?"((122))

Larissa had expected it, but hearing someone in the cave, even if they were an ally, suddenly saying something made her jump a little. She almost dropped her camera in the process, but managed to hold it steady just in time. "Hello! Are you here for the caterpillars too?" Larissa asked, hoping that her voice wasn't too loud inside of the cave. She wasn't used to how the acoustics worked in it. The caterpillars appeared to be slowly inching along, not a care in the world it seemed, even from predators. Was it some type of poison that was making them glow? It would certainly make sense. Or bio-luminescence like fireflies considering they lived in a deep dark cave.

Anniliese breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Larissa. She was glad that she wasn't alone in the dark cave. "Yes, I'm here for the caterpillars. I heard they are a sight to behold," Anniliese replied, smiling at Larissa. " I heard that it's like they are from another world. I wanted to come and see for myself what everyone was talking about. Her brother's girlfriend was talking about the caterpillars the other day. According to her, the caterpillars were unlike anything she had ever seen. Their glow was hypnotizing and almost as if they were communicating with each other through their light. (103)

"Yes! They're so strange! I don't normally study bugs, but when something visual like this is happening, I definitely want to try to take pictures of it. It's a bit harder to do in here without the light though. My camera does have night vision but it's just not the same." She said, slightly pouting. "I found some good ones over here! Not sure what colors they are, but the light they give off looks kind of like a firefly's!"

Anniliese stepped closer to Larissa and looked at the glowing caterpillars. She wasn't a fan of bugs, but the glowing factor was fascinating. "Wow! They look amazing! I can't believe how bright they are," she said, staring at the glowing caterpillars in awe. "But what do you think makes them glow like that? (53)

"Well, I hope they aren't radioactive at least." Larissa said with a nervous laugh. "But it's probably bioluminescence? Like fireflies or something. I kind of wish I could take one home, but I don't know what they would turn into if I managed to get them to live long enough." That and she wasn't sure what these things ate in the first place. Algae? Did anything grow in caves besides bacteria? She took a step back to take another picture as the caterpillars started to glow brightly once again. "I wish I knew, or at least I wish I was brave enough to go farther into the cave, but here is fine. I don't want to get stuck in the darkness." She said, taking a look at where the cave continued down further.

Anniliese wasn't brave enough to go farther in the cave too. She shuddered at the thought of being stuck in the darkness, with no light to guide her way. The only light being that of the caterpillars should have at least made her feel a little better about the idea but even that didn't make her feel any less scared. "When I heard about the caterpillars, I wanted to take a look at them myself. It's a shame that they can't be taken out of the cave, but then again it is probably better they stay in their natural habitat." While it was best to stay where there was some light she wondered if there were more of those caterpillars further down? What if instead of more caterpillars they ran into an bear? She didn't really want to take that risk. (141)

Larissa sighed. "Yeah, as much as I would like to take them out and look at them under a light, they need to stay here. And if they are magical, we definitely don't want to risk something going wrong." She said as she took a step away from them and looked at the time on her phone. "Looks like it's getting late for me! I have to go but it was nice meeting you!" She said as she waved to the other woman before making her way out of the cave and powering down. She would have to write about this when she got back to the apartment. Maybe she could find the same type of creatures on her Homeworld... xdeathxbyxlovex End post from me! Thank you for the rp!

Anniliese watched as Larissa left the cave, feeling a sudden sense of loneliness. It was nice to have someone to share the experience with. She returned her attention back to the caterpillars, watching them glow and move slowly along the cave floor. She wondered what other mysteries this cave held. Perhaps there were more magical creatures or artifacts hidden away in its depths. She shook her head, trying to push away the idea. She wasn't brave enough to explore any further, at least not alone.
