Every once in a while, Dant would grow depressed, shut himself in his room, and not eat or drink or see anyone for days at a time - thinking about nothing other than the destruction of his planet. This time was longer. Finally, one day, a note was slipped under the door. If you want to continue living in this house, you'll come out and meet with someone for five minutes.So, Dant, put on his clothes and opened the door.

Myles had done everything he could to cheer Dant up and try and lure him out of his room, including offering good food, or going out to do something fun, or trying to show him some new, exciting thing, and–
Well, none of it had worked. So he’d gone to Jeremy and moped about a bit, until he got tired of reassuring Myles that sometimes people just needed time to themselves.
Jeremy never really felt like he got a day off though, and after a little bit of Myles’ pleading, puppy-dog eyes, he’d dragged himself off the couch to go do something about it.
It helped that Devyn had stopped by to pick up some things Myles had gotten for Atticus, so he was already there when Jeremy was mulling over how to convince Dant to step out.
They’d been practicing reading and writing but honestly, Jeremy wasn’t even sure if Dant would be able to read what he wrote. He just wanted to pique his curiosity enough to get him out.
And how could he not be interested in the bucket of fried chicken they’d gotten? Even Devyn had already had some? Well–no, that wasn’t surprising, he was always eating something.
When Dant opened the door, Devyn had the box Myles had given him sitting on the table next to him, though Myles had run off to get a few more things before he left. Devyn looked a little more dressed up than just to be running errands, but that was also his nature. His hair was tied up and his clothes were put together, perfectly accessorized with just enough gold not to be gaudy. He wore a bit of makeup–not much, because Earth wasn’t as dramatic as Alastorian fashion.
He was settling in well enough that he was starting to learn the limits, even if he still liked to push them a bit.
Jeremy glanced towards Dant and seemed relieved that he’d opened the door, and gestured for him to come over. “There you are. You haven’t eaten all day. Come say hello to our neighbor. You two have a lot in common.”

Dant looked warily at the newcomer who seemed to be wearing a hecking ton of makeup and other decorations - just like those Bronzeskinss and Silverskins from long ago... (except no makeup). Then he looked back and forth between Myles and Jeremy. "In Common?" As if that were possible. Dant was a millennium-old - alien from a trashed planet. What could this Human have in common with him? He ignored the fried chicken.

Devyn leaned back a bit, and for as much as he typically liked to speak, he didn’t want to overwhelm Dant. He had insisted he wouldn’t have minded coming back later, but Jeremy had been keen to get him out of his room so this was as good of a time as ever.
“He’s not from Earth either,” Jeremy answered bluntly when he realized that Devyn seemed to be giving him the opportunity to introduce him.
“We’ve known him for a while, he’s a friend of ours.” Friend of a friend, whatever. It wasn’t worth it to getinto semantics. “I thought maybe it might be nice for you to have someone to talk to, you know. About things you don’t want to talk to us about.”
Now, Devyn offered a polite smile. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Devyn. I’m from Alastor.”

"Not.... from Earth...." Dant was having trouble processing this for a moment... then it clicked. "Soo.. you too, are...." he raised his fake eyebrows in a very human way. Then, something else, almost clicked. "Alastor? it's foggy, but I feel like I've heard that name before.... more like a ... reputation.. but no, nothing is clear. Is your memory this foggy as well?" He frowned.

Devyn’s smile remained in place, although there was a split second where it looked a little tighter than it had been. “Ah, yes. The name does carry a bit of a reputation, I suppose. The fogginess is…”
He shrugged and then nodded. “There are parts of my memory that aren’t as clear as they used to be. I’ve kept the important memories in my heart, though. The others, sometimes they come and go. How are you liking Earth so far?”
