Ika 1
Long before the sun had risen Ika was out doing her morning exercises. Even if she was away from Chibale she couldn't let her training slow, lest she risk any punishments from her mentor. It had been ages since she'd seen her mother, much less her grandfather or even her extended family. Between her training with the Alkidike and her families propensity to travel Ika felt disconnected from them. The love was still there, though it felt...awkward, at best, when she arrived yesterday evening. Everyone else was already in the area and when she'd come by most had already tucked in for bed.
Her mother was awake, of course, and had greeted her, which felt nice. She'd hoped to do some training with her that morning, but Ika had forgotten one key element of Ujana; the woman did not do mornings.
So, even as the sun started to rise, Ika kept up her drills.

Ujana 1Ujana hated waking up early. Years of working and operating taverns across Tendaji, as well as participating in fighting rings, had done a number on her natural clock. Daylight was for sleeping and napping while twilight was for raising hell. Normally she had little issue sleeping in no matter where she was, but for some reason knowing that her daughter was here had pulled Ujana out of a comfortable nap. The same youth that allowed Ika to spring out of bed with just a few hours of sleep wasn't with her anymore, though, and when Ujana got up it wasn't without a fair amount of cursing. By the time she stumbled outside, some sort of beetroot in one hand and flask of something decidedly not water in the other, she was tousled mess. Curls of deep, auburn hair tumbled all around the leafling and her hair, normally withheld by thick golden bands, was still in it's sleep braid. When Ika paused she raised her 'meal' with one hand in greeting and when the girl went back to her work she found a seat to watch.

(Uquin 1/7) Well, it was enjoyable to find another in the family who actually liked to raise with the sun. Imagine his surprise when there were two of them. If there was one thing Uquin mourned in his life, it was that he wasn't as close to many of his family due to distance. He didn't regret settling in Belrea with Maritza, but it still ached to know that whether he decided to stay in Belrea, or settle back in Tendaji, he would always be alienating himself from one section of his family.
While his daughters and grandchildren were here, Uquin had put off work. They were finally settled enough these days that he could do so without too much stress. The old man had settled himself to idly organize his things, his hair and cheek still streaked with black ink from the prank Ujiri had played on him the day before, looking up when Ujana joined them outside, eyeing the flask with barely disguised amusement. "At least pretend to drink some water first." He said, dryly.

(Eujanie 1/7)
Despite her frivolous personality, Eujanie took after her father Uzumati in that she woke easily in the mornings. She wasn't horribly fond of nighttime - living outside a settlement, where wild things liked to try to hunt you, made it a lot less fun. So, she'd been delighted to wake up and find her grandfather and cousin rising along with her.
She'd already eaten (messily, and she'd had to deal with quite a lot of scolding from Uquin for it), and now was sitting beside her grandfather, watching with wide eyes as her cousin practiced her drills.
Eujanie was physical, but not in the way that equated to combat or fighting. She was a tree climber, a runner, a lifter - not a fighter. "Aunt Ujana! You gonna fight stuff with Ika?" She called, loudly, not caring for the fact the woman had just woke up.

Ika 2
Despite her mostly earthling appearance, Ika's size was entirely Aishan. So, naturally, her blades were built for a larger frame and when she swung them around it was as good as an extension of herself. She kept the others in the corner of her eye at all times, just so that no one was unintentionally injured, though she didn't think she had to worry about anyone other than Eujanie.
That girl took after her father too much to know what 'safe distance' meant.
Now that she had a fuller audience, though, Ika went through a butterfly kick and pointed to Ujana with her sword. "The only thing she's fighting this morning are poor choices and bad knees." She lowered her blade with a smirk.

Ujana 2
Ujana gave her father a droll stare, flipped him a particular finger and took a long, steady drink from her glass. Occasionally she would lifted the beetroot to her lips and take a bite, thankful that the specially crafted sub-whatever (breed? type? Zadia mentioned it to her but she didn't pay attention) was helping to cure her headache. The warming bite of alcohol was helping to jumpstart her body, though admittedly a glass of water and a proper breakfast might have done the same.
And spirits above Eujanie! Ujana reached up to cup her head with one hand, and visibly gritted her teeth with a startled hiss. Oh Gods, that beetroot needed to kick in -
"Watch it." She snarled, locking eyes with Ika as the hybrid just shrugged her shoulders. Setting her glass to the side, she turned to Eujanie and let out a tired smile. "Why don't you give it a shot? Strong girl like you could take her down. She's only that big because she's full of sh- hot air."

(Uquin 2/7)
Ujana's dismissal, once upon a time, would have earned quite the talking to from her father. But it had been decades since that point in time, and now he allowed her to nurse her badly hidden hangover with only a huff and shrug of his bony shoulders. Although - it was amusing to see her get just as much lip from HER child.
"Don't go giving her ideas. I've heard too many stories about her wanting to wrestle with janarim." Uquin looked at Eujanie, stern but in the way of a grandfather, not a parent, and so without any real heat or discipline to it.
"You can't tackle a trained warrior and imagine it will turn out the way you want it to."

(Eujanie 2/7) Huh! Well that was just mean of her grandad to shut her down! She'd already half risen, grinning, at her aunt's suggestion, only to flop back down with bemused pout, glancing between the other three. "Well not when she's got a sword. Obviously." She said, tone full of sass and eye rolls as she got up from her seat. Then, she sized up her cousin, as if she didn't see a single questionable thing about trying to wrestle with a girl so much bigger than her.

Ika 3
"That's how you learn; you get beat up enough times that you don't get beat up again." Obviously she wasn't about to use actual swords on her younger cousin, but Ika wasn't going to pull her punches either. Her mother didn't when she trained her, neither did her mentor and she turned out just fine.
Although....now she had an idea. "So...what's around here that's the size of a Janarim? I mean, if you don't want her to fight then we could do some hunting..." Honestly Ika didn't see a problem with the first option, but out of respect for the girl's parents, who weren't here to witness it, she was thinking of something 'calmer'.

Ujana 3
Maybe...maybe that way of parenting hadn't been the safest. Honestly, seeing her father and sister in action had forced Ujana to take a look at her techniques and maybe there had been some flaws there. She agreed with Ika whole heartedly, buuuuuuut....
Knocking back the rest of her drink, Ujana sat the glass down and stood up. "Alright, hang on." She disappeared inside for a bit before coming back out with Severance, her over side axe. "Let's go on a hunt. We've got a tracker-" She motioned to Eujanie, "-muscle-" to Ika, "-and a healer." then she motioned to Uquin.

Uquin 3/7
Uquin closed his eyes and sighed deeply through his nose, not for the first time wondering just how on earth his family had become so chaotic. But he slowly pushed himself to stand, body creaking with its age as he rose, patting his belts to confirm he still had his prayer beads within reach. He preferred to traditional methods of healing, but had long since discovered how important his magic was, when keeping up with his children and grandchildren.
"A hunt somehow seems safer." He said, lightly, pursing his lips as he squinted at his daughter. "I trust you to help me make sure Padma gets her daughter back in one piece."

Eujanie 3/7 Eujanie might be a bit foolhardy, but even she had felt a little bit unsure about a fist fight with Ika. Not that she was a coward or anything, but her mom would probably cry and make her feel bad for rough housing, and that didn't sound fun at all! No - hunting was a lot better, especially 'cause it meant they weren't gonna be punching eachother out today. "Wait, grandpa's coming?" She asked, surprised. She'd never seen the old man outside of their homes, or going on slow, sedate walks in the village, and imagining him out in the wilderness was startling.
"On a hunt? Well... okay..."

Ujana 4
It had been ages since she'd been hunting. Most of her meals were provided by the inns and taverns she frequented, maybe even a few kind strangers on her trips, but to actually go out into the wilderness was something all together strange. As she was adjusting Severance over her shoulder, Ujana nodded to her father and gave a breathless laugh. "She'll be fine. Jokes aside I don't plan for my only niece to come back with so much as a scratch let alone a missing limb."
She could handle Uzumati being pissed at her; the feral git would probably try to bite her and be done with it. Padma, though, would be more emotional and her father's disappointment would hurt.
"Grandpa's coming so how about we save the bigger hunts for later, okay? Let's try to find something your mom can cook for us to eat tonight."

Ika 4
Ika subconsciously moved a little closer to Uquin as he rose subtly yet not subtly making sure he even could stand. Honestly he was the oldest person she knew, especially since her 'grandmother' was so young, and seeing the way he didn't automatically spring up sometimes made her think of him as 'delicate'. While he didn't shuffle around like some of the elderly she'd seen in villages he was thin and....would he be offended if she just carried him?
Yeah, probably.
"What are those things we had when I was a kid? The tall, skinny ones with the horns? Those cook up well don't they? Or um...the smaller, fat things with the tusks that squeal? Scrofa, I think."

Spirits, but the younger girls did seem startled at the idea of him coming along. He felt a wash of stubborn determination that made him all the more determined to come with them, even as his granddaughters looked a bit hesitant. "Oh, well. Don't let me hold you back." Uquin said, moodily as he followed the girls outside.[/size
