It had been a bit of a learning curve when getting used to her magic and today was one of the better days she thought. Today she wanted to get some training done on that front so she shot a text to Liam about it. Or Melpomene as he went by when powered up. She really didn’t think she would be able to get good training for her magic from her brother at this point but maybe from some of the team that General Benitoite had told her of.
Part of her wanted to dive headfirst into fixing this issue but in the end, she could take her time with it. There wasn’t that social pressure she had to do well immediately in order to be relevant like in her normal life. It was still pretty refreshing in a way, she could take things a little easier. But then again, it had drastically changed Aloysius over the years. So it wasn’t all roses and daisies either was it?
The meeting place was one of the lesser visited parks nearer to her apartment than to Liam and Aloy’s place. She was already powered up and keeping her eyes and ears open for if anyone else intruded on this fight.

Liam had powered up long before arriving at the park, he didn’t want to risk anyone thinking him some easy civilian to drain and going for him, he also didn’t want to power up in the park in case Melody would be a civilian when he got there. When he got close enough to pick up on energy signatures he could feel the corrupt senshi, good she was powered up already.
Picking up the pace he arrived at the meeting spot with a fair amount of ease, aside from the sheer fabric of his uniform catching on some branches and bushes. “Rules for the training?” he questioned, looking the other over, her hair was nearly the same length as her brothers. You could, especially now, see the relation between the two.

Aoede smiled and waved a bit toward Melpomene as they made their final approach. “Mostly just refrain from too violent of attacks I would guess. I will say that I want to try out my magic but with it being unstable if you have like airpods or some headphone thing that might help your ears survive if things go a little too strongly. Other than that I guess whatever you think rules should be set? I really have no experience with this still.” She tilted her head and looked at him, her bangs going in her face. It really was bothersome having this much hair to deal with, she really didn’t understand how people dealt with this all the time. It was a staple of other corrupt senshi so she would reach out at some point and see what ideas they had for dealing with it.
“Ready whenever you are.” She took sort of a fighting stance that she had seen in the movies but her inexperience really showed. At least she was willing to get better and it would be good for her to move around a bit more too.

“I don’t plan on hurting you, I’m not the violent sort.” Shrugging as he spoke, he wasn’t about to get violent with her of all people. “I don’t but I’ll survive.” Even if he couldn’t hear very well afterwards…he’d just play it off if he needed to, he didn’t think he’d have too much of an issue really. Though the idea of magic not being under control was dangerous and it did suck.
“I don’t think we need much for rules, I wasn’t sure if you had anything in mind though. No killing, no loss of limbs…the expected things.” He really didn’t fight much, it was very rare, so he was nearly as awkward as the other. The only thing he really had on his side was magic, more than she had, and it was controlled. He hadn’t much over her when it came to experience. “Try your magic first, let’s see what it does.” He’d used his magic if he had to…not sure she’d much care for its effects on people.

“To be honest I never really thought it would get that serious but good to note for the future.” She prepped herself mentally for a moment because it could either go full force or barely be just a whisper. There really wasn’t any sort of indication either way until it actually happened. With a nod she held her her hands out “Screaming Cacophany!” She shrieked into the invisible mic in her hands, starting her magic.

“Trust me, in an actual battle it could get that serious.” So he’d heard anyway, and worse he imagined in a big group battle. At least she had fair warning what to expect if she got into some of the bigger group battles, since he wasn’t likely to be involved unless Aloysius let him know. He knew that dating a general meant he might get dragged into such battles, and put more at risk for injuries, but he figured it was worth it really. He’d have Aloysius’ back and know the other was safe.
Watching as she went to use her magic, his hands wasted no time in flying up to his ears and covering them. Holy s**t! That was beyond loud and headache inducing. He was sure her magic wasn’t supposed to be this strong and this painful, this was what she was talking about, she’d need some control. All he could do right now was wait out though na sleep his hands as firmly covering his ears as possible.

It was very much on the stronger side it seemed this time, she almost had to cover her own ears as she ran closer to Liam and tried to punch him. The hit connected weakly and probably hurt her more than him given that she really didn’t know how to throw a punch. There was no use trying to say anything until the sound of yowling cats and screeching tires faded. Usually, it took half a minute so she just did her best to bear with it while Liam had his ears covered.
She tried swinging with her other hand this time, wondering if this was the right way to do it or not as the hit connected. At least it didn’t hurt her hand as much as the other punch did. A few moments later the noise started wobbling and fading out. It was really wonky still it seemed so even if it was stronger the time was a little less it looked like. “Ouch…”

The punch landed, of course it did, since he was busy covering his ears and trying not to fall over. He did however wind up on his knees, and his head between his legs as best as he could achieve. Anything to keep his ears from noping out on him, because the sound was loud. He saw one good part of her magic, if it was loud all the time and not so unstable, it would be great for leaving someone open to attack - like himself. Though her punch hadn’t hurt all that much it had still been noticed and still hurt.
When it did finally end, and he’d been hit a second time, he stood slowly. “I can see where the problem is. Especially if it’s that strong when it maybe shouldn’t be. If it;s like this good…it’ll help keep people from fighting back. But if it isn’t always like this you’re vulnerable. If it gets stable and you can get it like this with your attacks it’ll be good.” Maybe this was what it would be like as an eternal…and it would be weaker, for now, once her magic figured itself out.
“Ouch? Did you hurt yourself as well?” Did it work on her ears as well or what had happened to warrant an ouch from her? “Do you want me to try my own magic on you? It is a bit…personal in some ways.”

Melody shook out her hand a bit, it still stung from punching but otherwise, she was ok. “It doesn’t seem to bother me but you really are awfully stiff to punch.” She laughed a bit, Liam was working out a lot so it made sense that it would be like punching a rock almost. His magic was personal? What did that mean? After a moment she nodded to him.
“Yeah, we can try that out and see how things go?” Steading herself for whatever was about to come, though she wasn’t really sure about what it was. “I think I’m ready, lets go?”

Laughing he couldn’t help it, stiff to punch. “I’ll take that as a compliment.” And hope that the next person who hit him also got hurt for it, figuring the next time would hopefully be a real fight. “I’m sorry you got hurt hitting me.” At least she wasn’t actually really hurt, like he’d worried.
“Ok…” He knew what his magic did but he really wasn’t sure if people could fight it off, just by sheer force of will and such, so this might be the person to test that on. He knew his magic might prove useful to her if they were in a battle together, against other people, and she might like to know what his magic was capable of. “I’ll use the lesser magic for now.” He wasn’t about to use the stronger spell on her, it wouldn’t be nice to do that. It also might be very awkward given he was dating her brother and such.
“”Heart’s compassion.” He really was not a fan of the names of his magic…they were embarrassing to say the least. The blown kiss was sent her way though.

She saw the flowers coming but wasn’t really sure what would happen next, as she kinda moved to the side they still followed her. Almost like they were locked on and tracking her, that was weird. What was weirder was when they hit, she felt oddly worried about Liam. Not in the normal way she felt which was more based on her own goals for him in the long run. It felt, weird, wrong almost with the knowledge she had of the relationship the other had with her brother. She looked up at them, her face softened a bit with concern. “I hope I didn’t hit you too hard.” Taking steps forward she looked him over, something still felt off though.
“Oh no this is not about to happen.” She stamped her feet down and then reversed, slowly stepping back to get away from Melpomene and this weird feeling she was feeling. Maybe in the past, she had wanted to steal him away but it was never with any real feeling, just to get back at her brother or to have something to hold over them. She had used both men and women in that way to get information and for blackmail. This was not a feeling she wanted to attribute to anything though. Eventually, as she stepped back, she lost track of her long braid and came tumbling down to the ground with a thud.

Watching her reaction, and noting she was fighting it, he was pleased to see she realized what his magic was doing and making her feel. Unlike her brother who had gone with it, though he had a better reason for it since they were dating, it was good to see someone sort out the magic and actively work against it. He’d not really seen that, though he didn’t often use his magic on people, it was still good to see.
“That’s what my magic does and why I say it’s personal. It makes things personal and it deals with emotions.” For a moment he wished he had pocket sin his pants, so he could put his hands in the pockets. Instead though he stood watching her, if he moved closer she’d be in range of his magic and he didn’t want to do that, as he was watching her back away from him. He had to restrain himself from checking on her when she fell on her butt, and it looked rather hard. “Trust me I think the fall just hurt you more than you hurt me before.”
He knew, by knowing Melody, that she’d see some good use for his magic and that it would be useful to have him around in a fight. His magic might not cause damage and pain but it could shut down a fight and leave someone vulnerable to whatever he felt like doing. It was useful.

The ground hurt and after a bit, the weird feeling seemed to have faded. Now the embarrassment set in at having fallen in such a manner. “Ugh that is really reassuring, I really don’t like feeling things that aren’t real. It would really be useful to use in a social setting but then again there lies the problem because you’d have to be powered up in public and I doubt you would want to do that if you wanted to lay low.”
“It would probably work really well teamed up with other magic that disorients people so that you can get in close enough. I would say mine but it really does affect everyone except for me I think and it isn’t really reliable at the moment.” That was very much a problem but as she used it more and got more practice, hopefully, things would resolve. Benitoite had told her a bit about something that would have to be done down there to stabilize it but it would take time to set things up. “I guess you have another ability like that but better right? Or I guess stronger maybe is the better word for it? Since you’re a bit up there in the ranks or whatever they have on the Mirror side. I know it’s a bit different from what I read but there really is a lot of info I have been getting through since I am still a bit new with all of this.”

“Yeah, not good against civilians in a group setting. Though one on one it could work provided I was already powered up. But in a battle it’s also rather useful.” Since it kept him from getting hurt too much, though he’d never really needed it for that reason, he knew how useful it could be. There had been, in the past, the occasional time when he’d wished his magic did more, was more aggressive, and could do damage but this suited him at this point.
“Once your magic was more reliable it would work well with mine. I could keep ear plugs and use them for when you use your magic and than get in close for my own.” He could picture her digging up all the information she could, on everything, it was amusing and had him smiling at the thought. “The stronger attack lasts a bit longer and is just that - stronger. It’s the same magic but just amped up.” Which meant she’d have felt those same feelings but stronger and getting away might have been harder, he couldn’t picture people wanting to help him wanting to be too far away from him.
“Hopefully your magic gets more reliable soon so you can keep yourself safe at night.”

“I really would not like to experience that, it could be really really awkward. I am all for trying it out in the future if something comes up though. We could go draining together maybe, once things get a bit more under control.” She meant it too, she rathered not do it on her own, at least for the moment. There was so much else going on in the city that she was just starting to realize was probably the work of magic done by senshi from every side.
“I think I am good for today on this but I’d be up for trying again in the future. Just no more feeling flowers on me, please. Maybe more magicless stuff so we can get better at dodging and stuff.”
