After his talk with Melody he’d been content to let her handle things. His stepfather was to pick him up tomorrow for an appointment to get him tested, he had no idea that Liam would not be donating if he was a match. It would help Melody in shoring up whatever plan she had going, he wasn’t going to ask her about it, he just wanted to provide her whatever he could and sit back and watch her work. He knew she would get his family off his back and away from the Sharp family. Aloysius was none the wiser about what was going on, which was good for them all, and Liam was happy to enjoy the day at Aloysius home.
He didn’t have class and he’d gotten out of work early, he’d had a nice short day, filled with restocking the backroom and putting things out in the front of the store. His time spent in the gym paid off when it came to such tasks. But it meant that once the work was done he got to go home.
Settled on the floor he had music playing over the speakers, he was working on homework, and was singing along to the music. He hadn’t had much time on his own to relax and sing in a while, he’d been so busy and finding the time along to sing was lacking, but today was a day to work and relax and enjoy some time to himself.

Things were going swimmingly with her social chess game, she had gathered a few possible names for the half-sibling that caused a scene and one of the girls in her choir knew of someone in high society that was pretty sick. At this point, she was waiting for the meeting tomorrow that she had gotten arranged. Today was an off day for most of her studies so it would be a good day to brush up on her piano skills between things. As she got right up on the door, she heard faint singing and music coming through the mail slot.
As was now the tradition, she carefully and quietly unlocked the door and let herself in. Liam was singing and it was really good, too good to be in fact. She didn’t want to interrupt just yet so she kinda snuck her way behind one of the bookshelves and took some time to listen. He was hitting the notes very well even if he didn’t fully sound sure of himself in the way most of the members of her chorus did. It was nice hearing someone with natural talent instead of the purchased and refined sort she was used to. How come her brother hadn’t told her about this? Or maybe it’s more that this was her focus of music over his.

When the song did draw to a close he did as well, though his cheeks were a faint hint of pink, he was still writing and working. He’d managed to balance the two things as he’d learned to balance singing and carrying little children or rocking them to sleep. He was good at doing double duty when it came to singing, including showering whilst doing so. It had been something he’d typically do for himself or for the little ones who needed some comfort, or help sleeping. Now it was more for himself than anything because most of the children had families, and the orphanage was on its way to closing as it wasn’t needed any longer.
Stretching he put his pen down for a moment and grabbed his water, this time a flavored one, and took a few sips from it before recapping it and putting it down so he could get back to his work, the next song coming on over the speakers. He’d set it up for some random songs so it wasn’t the radio nor was it some play list of his own. It was just random from pandora.

Melody took her chance to move closer while staying behind the shelf, he hadn’t really looked up yet so everything seemed to be going smoothly. The song changed and he looked like he was about to start again, she took out her phone and opened up one of the pitch apps she had used for practice. Sure enough, as he started back up again it turned green letting her know he was singing it perfectly. Absentmindedly she whistled in amazement before covering her mouth. Shoot her cover had been blown.
She stayed put for a bit longer while she carefully put her phone back in her coat pocket. Then she walked out innocently. “Oh hello Liam, how are you today?” She smiled a bit as she took her normal seat on the couch, tossing her bag on the floor next to her. There wasn’t anything else really planned for today until more of her friends got back to her so maybe this would be an interesting topic for the day.

He’d heard the whistle, it was off and he knew it also wasn’t part of the song, so someone was here. He wasn’t surprised that when he stopped signing he spied Melody approaching. “Hey, I’m good just working on some homework I have due in a few days.” He liked to get it all done as fast as he could so he had free time, or in case something took longer than expected. He didn’t want to drag things out and potentially not get something done in time. He was trying to do his best and this was part of it.
“How was your day?” He assumed she was here for something though what he wasn’t sure, she tended to come over more often now since they had something to work on together. To be honest though he didn’t mind spending time with Aloysius' sister, she wasn’t that bad, though she was a lot different from himself. “Is there anything I can help you with, have you got any news?” He questioned, hoping she’d made some progress in things.

“Oh, that accounting work right? You really scrambled his head with that stuff, I know that it really isn’t up our alley but at least it’s good to know someone personally who is going down that path.” She nodded at him a bit before pulling out her phone. “I’ve heard a few things and found a cell phone video of that scene that happened at your work. Anytime there is a scene like that it usually gets put up online pretty quickly.” She turned her phone to show him the video, it wasn’t the clearest due to some handshaking probably but she at least knew what they looked like now.
“Other than that I’m still just waiting on some things. But I do have a question for you, Aloysius told me you said you couldn’t sing well which is why he was trying to get me in on his project. But you have a perfect pitch. You could just sing it with no problem probably, or is it because you can’t read music?” The last part was more a wondering than a direct question, although given his upbringing he may not have been noticed by someone who would have the knowledge to know how good he was.

“Yeah, well I figure it’ll be a stable job. People will always need accountants and while you could say the same for medical jobs…I don’t think I could handle that - too much bad.” He was certain he couldn’t handle seeing people in pain…or worse - dying. He didn’t need that on his chest, he knew he wouldn’t be able to handle it emotionally especially with children. He’d seen so many sad little faces, his own staring back at him sometimes, that he couldn’t handle a field like that. Even if it would be a nice secure career path.
“I’m not surprised someone took a video of it, it was a shocking scene, and people do love their phones so much.” Though to know it was u p online..it was embarrassing to say the least. Maybe there would be a way to take the video down…
Before he could question Melody about that she was questioning him and he shook his head. “I can’t sing that well…I just sing for myself, and the little ones when I was growing up. I’ve never looked at sheet music. I mean I ‘ve seen it, Anne took violin lessons, but I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. It’s just bars and notes, I couldn't tell you a thing about them really. I just sing what I hear. If I hear it I can sing it. But I’m not trained in singing or anything like you are.” So he’d be no good for helping Aloysius. He was like anyone else who sang in the shower or any other parent or sibling would be.

“It definitely is a stable job, I know Aloysius and I keep ours very busy with all the family business affairs that I had to take over the brunt share of. Being a doctor is pretty hard I would suppose, there are so many health things that can go wrong or unseen.” It was just one of those jobs with a lot of sorrow and maybe some positive moments. In the end, everyone would pass away and doctors got to see it more than most.
“I think it’s more that people love drama and the internet makes it so easy to spread rumors now. I really think that they’re paying the most attention to him if that makes you feel any better. People tend to side with the calmer person in the situation when there is a scene like this.” Nodding at him for a moment she then looked a bit dumbfounded at him.
“Ok so maybe you can’t read music but few people can just sing like that along with stuff. It really is a special thing you know, not that my brother would know anything about singing. He was always so bad at it when we were kids.” Laughing a bit at the memories of singing lessons they had together. “I think maybe you would just need to approach it differently is all, sheet music is just one way and of course, singing by ear is another way too.”

"Yeah, that does help that people are ignoring me. I don’t need the attention.” He wasn’t good with it anyway and he could certainly do without it, he didn’t need anyone trying to talk to him at random or follow him, or anything else. So she had seen his step brother blow up at him, that was both good and also embarrassing, but it would help Melody so it was good overall.
“Don’t people sing along to music all the time though?” People in their car singing to music was something he’d seen a few times, it wasn’t an unheard of thing. It wasn’t something different with him, he was doing the same thing really. He just sang as well as he could and tried to keep as close to the music as he could. “I’ve never really sung for your brother..Anne, one of the girls in the orphanage, told him I could sing when he was teaching her violin.” Because everyone in the orphanage knew he could sing, because he enjoyed singing for the little kids. “I can sing by ear, that’s easy, it’s what I do anyway.” Though long drawn out notes and such he couldn’t manage. He just didn’t have that sort of skill.

Was he really this dense, she made a face at him. It was time to put her music theory hat on to explain things. “So yes people can sing along but overall most people can’t sing it exactly perfect in the same way it’s being sung on the radio. You can just do it better and it is a really impressive skill to have so you should take it as a compliment.” She glared at him just a little, it would be really useful if she was able to do that.
“Anyway, are you ready for tomorrow? I know it can be a bit stressful since you haven’t had the best experience with that whole situation. I think Aloysius is planning on cooking dinner tomorrow since he finished the rest of his tutoring for this semester.” It would probably be a carb-dense Italian feast like she had grown up with and that was ok with her.

“Oh! I mean yeah I’ve heard some people and they are off - really off. But I just thought I was better at mimicking what I heard.” He answered honestly, even with a bit of a laugh to follow his words. He’d really never thought about it beyond that, and why would he? It was just something he did because he could and because he enjoyed it. “I’ll take the compliment, especially since it’s coming from you.” Because she wasn’t the sort, from what he could tell, who just handed them out. But he still was certain he didn’t grasp how special it was, despite her trying to explain it. He did sort of get it a bit now though.
“I’m ready but I am nervous. I don’t even know him…and I don’t know how stable he is emotionally.” Considering his half siblings and their emotional outbursts, more his half brother than his half sister, but he wasn’t about to deny being nervous. He had ever right to be.
“Did the information you find mention how long for results if I’m a match? And we’re going to also find out that I’m certainly her blood son, right?” The idea of dinner, right now, had him not feeling it but he was certain he’d feel better tomorrow once everything was dealt with. He never ate when he was nervous, or too stressed, he just couldn’t. His stomach was one of the first things to go on him. Once whatever was causing the stress, or nerves, was passed he’d be fine though.

That was one step in the right direction and one she very much approved of. It was nice to have someone musically inclined to be a potential addition to the family. Assuming Aloysius didn’t mess things up, which was a big assumption. But they both were clueless in a way and it kinda fit. “I think it will be ok, you have my number if you need to text me. You can also record things on your phone as well just to keep tabs on it and stuff. I think he probably will have to keep his cool more than your half-siblings since he is backed into a corner at this point.” She took a moment to run him through how to record without it beeping, something she had to relearn every time her phone’s operating system updated.
“As for the results, it should be less than a week to find out and it won’t outright say she’s your mom but it will show a family lineage in the higher percentage bracket if I am reading this right. They should call you or email you the results based on how you fill out the form, though I am certain they’ll put their info down as well to find out just as quickly. I think it’ll be fine plus we have a few backup plans already, I have a net out for information still too.”
“Either way, everything should be fine and you can relax and spend some time with my brother tomorrow. I’ll stay home because I am very certain he won’t want any interruptions now that his schedule freed up that much more for the moment.” She winked a bit at Liam even if she was internally disgusted at that fact still.

“It sounds like we should be covered then. I’ll record him on the car ride and hope he says anything useful, I’ll see if I can get a name. I’ll need to know what to call him anyway since sir might seem off, I’ll see if I can’t work things a bit.” And try and play innocent and dumb to get information, though he was certain some would say he was in fact dumb.
Flushing red he ducked his head and fought down a smile. “I have a feeling you’re right, it might be good if you don’t stop by tomorrow night. Do you want me to put down your e-mail for them to send the results to? They won’t know it’s not mine…” There was no reason for them to think it wouldn’t be his email, they’d trust him, she could even set up a fake one for it to go so so she could see, it would give her the results as soon as they were available rather than waiting for him to give it to her, since he might be in class or at work when they came in.

“That works and you really don’t have an air of scheming about you so they shouldn’t be on guard as much either.” It wasn’t so much a negative thing as just the truth. Liam really seemed rather nice, almost too loyal in a way but that wasn’t always bad. At least for her, and probably even more so for her brother.
It took her a minute to think about it though, it would be nice to know first but to be honest he deserved to be the first to know. “No, put yours down. I think you should find out first and then if you have questions I am sure we can figure out what the technical terms mean. We can go from there. But enough of all this, I need to do a bit of practice for some things for my own homework in a way. I’ll let you be and finish your work ok?” She smiled and made her way to the piano, sheet music in hand so she could start practicing the new material.
