It was a pretty painting, at least Gabby thought it was pretty. A nighttime cityscape with a sky filled with starseeds instead of stars. The colors were mostly purples and teals, and of course it was made with General King Jet in mind. It was…a very, extremely amaizingly late ‘congrats on your promotion gift’, while also being a ‘just thinking of you’ gift and…truthfully, she had wanted to try her hand at painting something that didn’t involve horses.
Still, if he decided he didn’t like it she wouldn’t have hurt feelings, but she might just not give him a choice and put it up in his office regardless if that was the case…or she could find someone else who would appreciate...her…art.
Huffing softly, Gabby saw that the canvas was framed and then wrapped, complete with the most gaudy iridescent bow that she could find because…well. It was the prettiest one there, and after her tasks were finished, she powered up and made her way to General King Jet’s office.
Knocking on the door, Lazurite waited all of five seconds before announcing herself. “General King! It’s your favorite underling Lazurite here with something for you! Let me in!”
Not subtle but, it got the point across. And she wouldn’t have gone so far if she felt someone else in the room with him. She wasn’t a fool.

It only took Jet a few seconds to cross the room and open the door for the young woman, but he gave her a perplexed, somewhat exasperated look. When he spoke, his voice was even, not angry or upset. Like he would have been speaking in a normal conversation.
“You know, it’s polite to say ‘please’, or ask if I’m busy or not when you knock. Next time I won’t answer the door,” he warned and shook his head, mumbling about how he didn’t understand why there were so many in the Negaverse with poor manners. He’d already had Faustite say please before, when discussing his mission into the Rift. The second time.
“At least you knocked,” he sighed, although the comment was clearly in reference to someone else not knocking.
“I’m not busy, and you can come in,” he nodded, then eyed the wrapped gift she was carrying, along with the incredibly gaudy bow. “I wanted to… talk to you anyway,” he explained, but was clearly distracted by whatever she was carrying. “On your way to a party?”

“No! It’s a gift for you, and of course I knocked, I may be impatient and excited but I wasn’t raised in a barn. I mostly have manners but I was just excited to give this to you. It’s really long in coming and I hope you like it.”
Holding out the package, Lazurite rocked back slightly on her heels. “I wanted to congratulate you with something…I don’t know, better than just a simple good job boss man but never could figure out what to do so then I had an itch to paint and this is what came from it, if you don’t like it that’s totally fine it’s not my normal, I could do a field of horses for you no problem if you’d rather but this seemed like it would fit in your office. I tried to catch your vibe.”
It wasn’t that she was nervous...but…she really did hope that she liked it. “And apart from the super late congrats, I just thought it would be a nice ‘just because’ gift. What did you want to talk to me about? Am I in trouble? Should I wait to give you this until after you’ve told me that I’m in trouble, I can easily make it a bribe instead…”

Jet’s eyebrows raised in surprise. A gift for him? He wasn’t sure what he’d done to deserve a gift. Oh, except she explained why.
He couldn’t stop the quiet laugh that escaped, not at her expense but because it was just something he didn’t think about. Niter brought him a gift as well. A few others. But other than that, it was business as usual.
“That’s very thoughtful, thank you. I was going to ask you about your friend. The one you were trying to talk to. I was wondering if maybe she needed a little motivation. Not anything to frighten her, but you’ve been working hard and I know you want to do more. I thought getting you some wings could be convincing to show her you’re serious about wanting to bring her over and to safety,” he said, not at all hiding the smile as he took the gaudily wrapped present and carefully opened it. He was being purposefully casual about the offer.
He took a few moments to look at it, still smiling as he carefully placed the paper to the side.
“It’s really nice. Thank you. I do like these colors, how did you know?” he half teased, since he was obviously wearing them. “I’ll have to get something to hang this up properly. Aquamarine managed to get the rest of the paintings up. I’ll check to make sure I don’t ruin his vision before having it put up.”

“I wish I could have seen her. Honestly, I haven’t seen her since I told you about her. I kept going to our “spot”...like where we had met two summers ago last year but she never showed up…I’ve kept my eyes open but. I’m half worried that she’s dead.”
Lazurite felt pleased that Jet seemed to really like the painting, and there was a sense of pride that flowed through her, but finally something seemed to click and she frowned. “Wait what? Some wings? Like…wings for me?”
Eternal Senshi had wings…was this…was she about to be given an upgrade? Her eyes began to sparkle and she nodded slowly. “I think that if I did have wings and I were to find her, that would truly help to convince her. I know I’d be convinced if some beautiful sexy goddess came up to me with wings and was like, give up your life and join me. If you think I’m ready, heck yes I accept!”
Grinning, Lazurite nodded, rather cheekily. “Don’t upset him on my account! I’ll paint him something too if you tell me what he likes.”

“He actually likes horses,” Jet shared, amused by her enthusiasm, despite being put off by her impatience earlier. “He likes potatoes too,” he added, his expression dropping a little because he realized it was a weird jump from horses to potatoes. “Maybe not in the same painting,” he continued after a moment.
“You remember how painful it was before,” he warned, gesturing to a chair if she desired. “And I’ve got plenty of snacks and drinks available once it’s over. Maybe this will help you find her again. And if you see any other Senshi who might need help or want to join us, you know I’d be happy to talk to them.”
She knew he liked to get to know people first before bringing them in. There were some that he decided to trust those recruiting them, but for the most part he wanted to know what they were like. He wanted it to be their decision, and not confused or second guessing themselves.
He gently set the painting down, propped up against the side of his desk and waited until she was ready.

“Okay but tell me honestly Jet, how pissed would he be if he got a horse posing like some kind of a pin up character and laying on a pile of french fries? Because I have a vision right now…and I think I’m going to need to get it down, and I will happily give it to Aquamarine as well as a real painting too but…I just need to know how dead I’d end up.”
Her heart was fluttering slightly, eager with the idea of another promotion...
Drawing in a breath, Lazurite took a step closer to Jet, grinning. “I’m ready for this, if you are! I don’t mind pain, It’s just a part of growing stronger, so. Let’s get this started, and of course. I’m all about sweet talking the Senshi…and Knights, I guess, and if I find anyone who I think might be a good fit you know I’ll let you know.”

Jet wasn’t sure how to react. He tried very hard not to let his expression change, but he had no idea what her vision was, but it sounded… interesting.
“I, uh… I know more about music than I do art. So I’m not sure,” he answered as vaguely as possible because he had no idea what Aquamarine would do. It would be based on his mood. “Maybe get him a little tipsy first, and he’ll find it more amusing? But, uh… he’s more of an artist than I am, so he might enjoy it more. Probably.”
For all he knew, Aquamarine would find it hilarious.
Or he would burn down the castle. It really just depended on who crossed his path that day prior to receiving the painting.
But at least Lazurite was ready, so Jet reached out to press his hand into her chest. He kept his other hand out, ready to catch her if necessary, but began to slowly work the new surge of chaos into her starseed. He carefully monitored the change, watching as her clothing changed and wings sprouted.
When it was over, he removed his hand, but waited to make sure she didn’t need help sitting down.

Grinning, Lazurite was going to make another comment, but then she had the familiar feeling of fire going through her as Jet pushed more power into her starseed. Her outfit changed again, and when it was over, she gave a few slow blinks, making sure that her body was still…able to work, she took a step backwards and turned her head, breaking into a grin as she saw the wings that lay at her hips.
“Well, would you look at that? From us meeting in a music store to you being an amazing General King and me getting wings. Who would have thought?”
She wouldn’t have, honestly but. She liked it. And now? Now Lazurite could do so much more. “Oh! Does this mean I get my own office? Do people get to knock and bother me? Because…I love that idea.”

“Sure, if you want to find an office to clean up, you’re free to pick one,” Jet said, still looking amused but just a little exasperated by how enthusiastic she was. It was fine. It was better than not being interested at all. He wasn’t going to discourage her.
“Make sure you take it easy. I know that can take a lot out of people. It sure took a lot out of me when I got my promotions,” he warned, not wanting to see her collapse because she was over eager to run out and do things.
“I knew you had potential when we met. I look forward to seeing what you can do in the future.”
