Celestina’s head was spinning and she let it rest for a moment on her kitchen table, drawing in several slow, deep breaths to try and calm her racing heart. It always seemed to be racing now, ever since she had uttered the words…the…promise? To Daphne that she was going to leave the Negaverse. Leave Chaos.
Well and good but.
How the Hell did a person just go about that? Perhaps she should have come up with a plan before just promising the girl, but it had felt so right in the moment, and she wanted nothing more than to protect her and ugh.
She was exhausted still from how much she had teleported the night before, and the smell of the coffee that came up from her mug was both wonderful and a little bit repulsive. After already downing two mugs, she regretted pouring the third, but thus far, the caffeine was doing nothing to wake her up…
The only good thing about this happening today was that it was still the weekend so she was allowed to be lazy.
The bad thing was the fact that since she was being lazy, all she could do was think…and there were a lot of things to think about.
Too many, honestly.
Celestina huffed and forced herself to sit up, leaning back against the hard wood of the chair. Take a sip of coffee, then go and lay on the couch.
A good game plan, and one that she could…in theory…do. Reaching for the cup, she drew a long, slow sip of the overly strong drink, and shook her head as though that would do something to wake her up.
It didn’t, but she had gotten this far. In the four steps that it took for her to get to the couch, Celestina almost fell asleep again and plopped face first into a cushion, groaning and reaching up to yank the throw blanket over her head. Now she was in over her head and…her head was covered. It was only fitting.
Now that Celestina was horizontal once again, she felt the weight of dread settle on top of her and she sighed, squeezing her eyes shut. There were two choices that she could see…or, not see, since her eyes were closed but. She could become a traitor…she could purify like she had promised…recklessly promised to Daphne…or she could just…not and avoid the girl fro the rest of forever and that would also clear things up nicely.
Wouldn’t it? She had already fulfilled her end of her promise, she had given Daphne the grave, a place to mourn…so that…meant she didn’t really have to do any more, right? She could just…forget about her sweet Kitten, and go about life as she could. She could forget about Dagon and go about life as she should...
Honestly, she was sure that Lopezite wouldn't mind if she told him that her self imposed assignment was too difficult…in fact, he would be proud of her, maybe. He had seemed worried that she was biting off more than she could chew…and perhaps that was because he was afraid it would end up like this. With her wanting to leave. Saying that she would leave…
Actually leaving.
The thought made Celestina shudder and she reached her hand up, pulling the second blanket down and shaking it until it more or less covered her lower half. Leaving. Could she do it? The thought was…repulsive and at the same time…kind of exciting.
It had just slipped out. A promise that she had never intended to make but…here she was. Agonizing over it and…well. Nobody else knew. Only Daphne, and it could be easily blamed on fatigue. She had just teleported the two of them and she was tired and Daphne made her feel soft and squishy and warm inside so…it was natural that she would simply blurt out whatever would make the girl happy…and…ugh.
Grunting, Celestina rolled over, laying her head against the cushion and looking up at the light filtering through her blanket. This…wasn’t a decision that she had to make right away…and like everything else in her life, she had the option to think on it first…plan for it. It wasn’t that Daphne was going to hold a gun to her head and make her purify the next time that they met up…and even if that was what happened.
…Honestly? Celestina was quite sure she could take Daphne on in a fight and wrestle whatever weapon the girl might have. She was taller…she…looked physically older so…she would have the advantage…unless it was the sad kitten eyes, those were always a killer but. If worse came to the worst, she could just close her eyes or leave...so…there was no real threat. No reason to rush into anything she didn’t want to or couldn't…she…
She had time.
The thought calmed her, and Celestina closed her eyes again, drawing in a deep breath. So long as there was time, so long as she didn’t rush headlong into something she didn’t understand…she’d be okay. Besides, she wanted to spend more time with Daphne…she did want to help her…and honestly…this could be the best way…but before anything. She wanted to talk with Dagon. Wanted to see Dagon again…talk with her about this.
That thought made the rest of her anxiety seem to fall away. Perhaps that was the missing piece…she needed to figure out where Dagon fit into everything…and now…now she just had to find the Senshi…and after that…well.
Maybe they could figure things out together.
It was a thought that put a smile on Celestina’s face, even as she began to drift off to sleep once again. Idly, she hoped that her dreams would be good ones. Filled with the touch of slightly damp clammy hands…and the laughter of her Kitten.
Hopefully, they would be good ones forever.
