A yawn escaped him as Huaijiu walked his way down the boardwalk set on the sands. His arms raised up above his head as he stretched out his shoulders. He'd spent his morning hunched over his books so he could read up on the various types of beasts. Since making his choice for a path to follow he had been dedicating himself to learning all he could to make the best match. Jiu wanted to make sure he could bond with the beast he eventually picked.

The sun was shining and the wind was making it a nice day. So as a break from the self impose studies he thought he'd go down to the beach and relax. Usually he liked to swim and look for shells or pearls but today he was thinking he might just sun bathe.

When his stretch was done he dropped his arms to his sides and breathed out slowly with some satisfaction. He was determined to enjoy his break from reading.

When he reached the spot he'd had in mind to spend a few hours he noticed someone was already there. The fact didn't bother him but it did surprise him to see that the person was from the leaf tribe. They weren't rare in Matori but not so common that he was used to seeing them. Typically the only leaf person he saw was his own mother or his uncle on his random visits.

It wasn't a deterrent, however, and he continued to make his way closer. When Huaijiu was close enough he took another look at the girl. She was older than him by a few years but not as old as his mother. He was about to pass by her without so much as another glance when something caught his attention. The crystal pattern on the girl's forehead. That had him stopping a few feet from her, his face blank, but his eyes were focused on those crystals. He had similar ones on his own exposed forehead. The only difference was that his were the blue color of his father's rather than the pink of his mother's.

As the girl decided to get just a little closer, presumably after noticing his own crystal pattern, he remained where he was. Huaijiu sifted through his own memory and couldn't find this girl anywhere. So he knew he'd never met her or had been shown an image of her. When she said as much he offered her a very slight nod of his head. "We've never met." He spoke simply to give another form of confirmation.

Still his eyes seemed trained on those crystals for a second longer before he dropped his gaze to look at her face. From what he remembered as a child his mother told him that she and her siblings all had the same pattern on their forehead, a strong gene passed on from their father - his grandfather. So he was looking for similarities to his mother. He didn't have the gut instinct that his brother had but something in the back of his mind was telling him this girl was somehow related to his mother. He remained silent as he studied her.

The staring did not bother him in the least as he was typically the silent type. Huaijiu likely would have stayed like that for a while longer lost in his own thoughts had the girl not asked him the question of who his mother was. His lips pressed together tightly as he considered the question. Another story from when he was little popping into his mind. Though if the woman was here then she might already know who his mother was.

Eventually, about a minute after the question was asked, he shrugged his shoulders, deciding that it wouldn't hurt to answer the question. "My mother's name is Terrwyn." At least it was a full sentence. His brothers would be proud of him. Jiu did toy with the idea of asking who this girl was but speaking so much in one go was tiring and he did better when he could sit back and watch. So for now he stayed quiet.

It seemed the girl had nothing else to offer as far at his maternal relation. Huaijiu wasn't sure what to do with that. Though something did nag at him. His mother's family was from Tale so what was one of his ...Aunts?... doing here?

While talking usually was left to his brother he didn't get that luxury right now, so he cleared his throat and gave a slight tilt of his head to the left. "I was under the impression my mother's family lived in Tale. What are you doing here?" By the odd response, the lack in eagerness, he had to guess she hadn't come looking for Terrwyn. Though it was still strange for him to run into her. Unless the gods had decided he was meant to meet the Kavensei's. Not that he was opposed to it.

Well at least he knew this girl hadn't come to try and drag his mother back to Tale. If that had been the case then he'd have to run and tell his brothers and they'd all go get their dad and the domino effect would just be awful. He was still a bit weary about the whole meeting but who was he to question what the gods had in mind.

As she answered his question about what she was doing here he finally looked away from her, chancing a glance at the ocean. He noted the waves as they came in and remembered that pattern as one of calmness. When he looked back at the girl he offered a nod. "Swimming here is good. Don't know about finding a dance teacher." At least not on the beach. The last performers he'd seen had been more closer to the town which was still a ways up the boardwalk.

"We don't have many performers in this town." Most of the residents were fisherman due to the ocean being readily available.

He once again looked at the water before looking at her. Huaijiu knew the area and knew that it was safe for swimming, even if someone wasn't all that skilled. It wasn't that deep until someone went too far out.

"It'll be safe to swim here." He finally nodded his head.

Jiu moved to walk toward the water, stepping off the boardwalk and onto the sands. It was the spot he'd originally planned to go to so he didn't see a point in changing his destination. Of course he did glance back at Fajra to see if she was going to move along or do what she planned as well.

He stared after her, not sure what to say or even if anything was needed. So he settled on comfortable silence for the time being. It also allowed him to observe and think.

If this woman is his aunt then he was meeting someone else from his mother's side. He already knew his uncle Viltre. It made him wonder if perhaps that he and his brother were going to start meeting more of his mother's family. Jiu would have to ask his uncle about this new aunt and see what she was like.

As she wiggled her toes in the watery sand he moved a bit to the side so that he could lean against a tree growing nearby. He wasn't quite yet ready to leave as his curiosity was getting the better of him.
