◊ STUBBORN Sierra is of the opinion that if she works hard enough at something it will in fact work out. Whether or not it will be in her favor is besides the point. You know that whole thing about equal force and momentum? She’s both.
◊ PATIENT Coinciding with her stubborn nature, patience is always needed. She’s understanding that sometimes things take time so while she’s chipping away, she’s aware that each chip is just one more step towards progress.
◊ SHY Sierra is not really the forward type; she likes people don’t get her wrong but the bullying she endured in primary has made her wary of putting herself out there. She won’t reject friendships when they happen but it takes her a while to open up.
◊ IDEALISTIC Sierra has dreams and ideas that she can’t wait to make realities and-if she trusts you-she’ll be sure to tell you all about them. Her ideas can be fantastical to some but to her they’re just the tip of the iceberg.
◊ SELF CONSCIOUS Because of her hearing loss, it took her a bit longer to start talking than her peers and her words can sometimes take on a slurring or lisping nature if she gets too excited. This resulted in teasing and even a few bouts of bullying which caused her to ultimately limit how often she speaks.
◊ PERCEPTIVE Sierra’s pretty good at reading a room and could tell you who what when where and plausibly why if she’s been there long enough. It also helps that she’ll often take out her hearing aid due to discomfort so she’s practiced to be more self aware of her surroundings.

CHILDHOOD Sierra was born to her parents Mira and Timothy Whitethorne, a potioneer and a cursebreaker respectively. When she was a little over a year old, her parents discovered that was having hearing problems and took her to the healer where they found otitis media with effusion, essentially a build up of fluid in her ears. This usually wouldn’t be a problem as they don’t often lead to infections but unfortunately, the fluid never drained and continued to build up and at certain times popped. These chronic effusions caused diminished hearing in her left ear before ultimately getting them under control. By the time Sierra got to primary, she was the owner of a shiny new hearing aide and vocal exercises. Due to her rather unfortunate health, she was a bit behind in speech and gained (to her) some embarrassing patterns which lead to some bullying. It didn’t go far beyond name calling and malicious teasing but it ultimately left her feeling self conscious about her speech and would usually choose to just not talk if the option was available. She’s very excited to finally be going to Hogwarts since hearing virtually every adult in her life talk about it but she’s also hoping to be able to find a place to fit in.

- ◊ FIRST YEAR Sierra actually had a pretty good first year despite being away from her family for the first time in ever. She didn't really make any "friend" friends but she'd met allot of new people and no one was overtly weirded out by her so. Progress?
◊ SECOND YEAR So scratch what she meant about not having friends, a whole group basically kidnapped her and she's pretty sure her editor in chief adopted her. Maybe not adopted. What's a word for "taking you under their wing but only so they can s**t talk you to your face for your betterment"? Cuz that's Milan.
◊ THIRD YEAR HES'S A ******** MENACE. Who thought making her editor was a good idea?!? Her friends kept congratulating her and Su knit her something very cute but C'MON. Despite her misgivings and almost tantrums, it actually didn't turn out so bad. She's still pissy about it though.
◊ FOURTH YEAR HE'S A ******** MENACE PT. 2. Merlin be damned puberty is a b***h of a ride and Sierra wants OFF. Going from not wanting to friends to having friends to now finding some of those friends ATTRACTIVE was NAUSEATING. Ughhhh! She's asking her parents about homeschooling, she can't handle this trauma.
◊ FIFTH YEAR Milan is an unhelpful b***h with a capital B. Sierra doesn't know what she was thinking going to that t**t for advice. Never again. At least for 3 consecutive months. The school year was otherwise beyond other...issues. She was thankful she hadn't been made prefect-though it wasn't something she was all that worried about to begin with-and was still running the newspaper fairly well if she did say so herself.
◊ SIXTH YEAR As graduation keeps rapidly approaching, Sierra keeps trying to discover what exactly motivates or inspires her and truthfully, she keeps coming up empty. She'd always toyed with the idea of cursebreaking so she could follow in her dad's footsteps but after taking the exams, she'd discovered that it really wasn't for her. That pretty much just left her to her art and her ability to always sorta be there at the right time for the good gossip. Pretty sure she can't put that on a resume. She's got one more year though and hopefully it'll give her...something.
