It had taken her quite some time, but Dagon was finally beginning to feel as if she knew Destiny City well enough to not get entirely turned around. It hadn't quite been a year since she arrived--only a few days short, though, by any counting she could manage--and she was finally starting to think that she might actually be comfortable with this place.

It was a hard won comfort, from much effort and time put into exploring, and finding maps, and generally doing her best to familiarize herself with the lay of the land. She did not know it like she knew her world--never would, she suspected, as she doubted she would have a thousand uninterrupted years here--but it was still...better.

Still, despite her increased knowledge, she still enjoyed observing. So, she had taken a break from patrolling to sit, perched on the edge of a rooftop, and take in the streets below, in an effort to engrave their layout into her mind.

There were fewer nights now that Alastor went out on his own; if he didn’t have Sessrumnir with him, he usually had at least one of the boys. Usually both of them. He enjoyed their company, but they were still in school–and Michael had things he needed to take care of, too.

Alastor had his world, and it needed time and attention.

It was a constant work in progress, but every visit was progress, and the world he’d left a little over a year ago was practically unrecognizable in its present state.

He’d spent most of the day there and he was expected home a little late; he’d only just returned to Destiny City.

Eternal Sailor Alastor appeared to arrive out of nowhere, manifesting on the ground just before Dagon.

He was stretching when he arrived, but it was clear that he sensed her immediately. His arms were folded so his hands touched his back; his wrists were at his shoulders and his elbows to the sky as he twisted in place.

It took him less than a second to pinpoint where she was. As soon as he’d spotted her, he paused and lowered his hands to his hips. “Oh, hey. Good evening. Sorry if I’m interrupting anything, I’ll be out of here in just a minute.”

It was almost a little startling, watching someone appear where no one had been before. Dagon tilted her head to the side, and considered; that was a distinctly Senshi aura, and the familiar wings of an Eternal sat on the stranger's hips. So, if she had to guess, he must be returning from his planet.

Strange, to experience from the other end.

She greeted him with a nod and a small smile. Always good to meet new allies, after all.

"Not at all," she said. "Just a bit of observation, and a little hope that I might not get entirely lost the next time I patrol here. Is this your usual area?" Perhaps if he was more familiar with this part of the city, he could help her learn it.

“My usual area?” He considered the question for a moment and glanced around, as though he were truly contemplating the question. Finally, he shrugged and returned his gaze to her. “I can’t say so. I’m here often enough, but I don’t like to spend too much time in any one place. Some of these places look exactly the same, I can’t blame you for getting lost.”

Couldn’t judge her, either.

He was never really bothered when he lost his way; when he’d first gotten here, there had been so much to take in. She was a Super Senshi, though. He didn’t know if she’d arrived like that, or if she’d gotten stronger being here.

He didn’t presume to know much about her or Earth, but she really didn’t look like an Earthling. So, he supposed, she might not be.

Naturally, his curiosity was piqued.

“Do you have a ‘usual area’ or do you just let yourself wander?”

Dagon nodded, thoughtfully. Both approaches made sense to her, one way or another; considering that a single city was apparently the nexus for magical activity on this planet, it might make sense to range widely or to stick to a safe and familiar area. After all, no one person was responsible for all of Destiny City, the way a Senshi was for a planet or a Knight for their Wonder.

"I've been trying to learn the city," Dagon said. "I've only been here for around a year, by this planet's reckoning," not a particularly normal thing to say, she supposed, but he seemed relatively unfazed by her unusual skin tone, so perhaps he was also from off-planet, or had at least dealt with someone who was, "and I've been doing my best to get as familiar with this city as I am with my own world." A soft laugh passed her lips. "Though that might be difficult. Twelve hundred years there, a single year here."

She shrugged her shoulders.

"I am Sailor Dagon. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Alastor nodded; it was easy to memorize her face and name when they were so distinctly different from what he’d seen around here and back on his world.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, Dagon. You look good for your age.” Probably. She might not have looked human but she still seemed pretty all the same.

“I’m Alastor,” he introduced. He didn’t want to give more than that, not because he was ashamed of who he was in this life, but of the legacy his previous lives had left. Besides, Despair didn’t really make for a good introduction, anyway.

“What’s your world like that’s got you staying here on Earth? If you don’t mind me asking.”

Dagon blinked, and then laughed. "Ah, I suppose I do look good, when I ought to be dust." She shook her head, clearly amused. "My people were long lived, but twelve centuries.....it's quite a long time, even for us. But it is a pleasure to meet you, Alastor."

The question about her planet made her lips turn downward, and for a moment, something haunted appeared in her eyes. "It is...dust and decay. My world is near-dead, and I'm here because I hope that I might find a way to save it. That even fi I'm the last of the Dagonite people, the world might be able to live on."

And that maybe, she wouldn't have to be the last. Maybe, she might one day have a world safe enough to bring others to, to teach them her people's traditions, so that it wasn't all just bone and rot and dust.

Alastor’s smile faded somewhat, if only because he knew what that was like. He could never say his world was dust and decay. Trapped in a storm, in a torrent of shadows and rot, sure. But his world was strong. Resilient. Torn apart by time and Chaos, but it was alive.

Every day now, it was stronger than the last.

He pressed his lips together and nodded.

His people weren’t long lived; he knew he was the exception. In most circumstances, he might not have said anything about his homeworld, or his history, but it was hard to look at her and not think of what they must have in common.

“You’re in luck to be on Earth. I found what I needed here, enough to save my world. Chaos stretched its shadows across Alastor, for more years than I care to recall. I wasn’t strong enough to handle it alone.” Not an admission he made lightly. “As my world weakened, so did I. But I regained my strength, and found allies to help me back home. Now I don’t have the Chaos to worry about, but I’ve got to pick up all the pieces left behind.”

He didn’t sound deterred; instead, he sounded optimistic about it. Still, at least he had the chance to work on his world. She still had to figure out how to save hers. “I don’t know if my offer will be of use to you, but if there’s anything I can do to help, I will.”

He wasn’t an expert, but he was determined, and hardworking, and if he could help anyone reclaim their world, he’d do his best to see it happen.
