The Salon:
For all who choose to attend this exclusive feeling, and yet oh so open, event for the Art World, they will enter the rarely opened up House of Ertéan on one of three select evenings a week. The House maybe one of the most renowned Fashion Houses in Faetasia, but other than the Shop, the rest of the House is considered a zone where only the most influential and exclusive patrons can enter.
The doors are a rich mahogany, carved with the House's emblem of the H and the E combined, resting on the backs of a pair of greyhounds, placed right over the middle of the paired doors, so that the H and the E separate when they are opened. The guests are invited into a warmly lit foyer, invited to leave any outer garments with the staff, and from there, they enter into a grand ballroom. However, the ballroom has been filled with lux but comfortable looking sofas and chairs, arranged in intimate and cozy groups around zebrawood coffee tables. There are discrete but elegantly dressed servers quietly moving amongst the tables, handing out delicious little bites and beverages at peoples' desires, and also gently guiding guests to new corners if they have noticed a good match amongst the guests.
Some of the guests seem more comfortable here, as if they've been here before. Perhaps some of them are those exclusive patrons, or perhaps they work for the House. They do not say if they are asked, they just gently guide the conversation in other directions with the care of someone practiced at soft dissembling... So gently only an expert would notice.
Sometimes, however, those interesting guests will invite one of their companions for the evening to a backroom, behind a curtained arch. The one thing many people have noticed is that while the House is open... The famous designer himself rarely seems to appear in the Salon. There are occasionally whispers around the room amongst those not selected that he is back there... Seeking his own protégé, perhaps, or something else.

-rp response plus form. IC there's a couple who invested in the artist and could potentially be some upperclassmen muckity muck lol. But it's just npc/story stuff right now-
Name: Galaxie What do you do? Freelance artist Who do you know? It might be noted that Galaxie has done some art modeling before. Their markings lead to some beautiful paintings. He knows mostly fellow 'up and coming' artists and models, but he has also met with an agent or two about his art. What is Beauty, to you? In an interview Galaxie once said, "To dream is beautiful, beauty is but a dream." He's often heard saying similar things including the classic, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people are blind and others see every other spectrum of paint." Give us an Image of yourself: 
Invitation in hand, the young artist/semi model walks into the beautiful building. There is much mystery surrounding it all. One thing Galaxie knows is that this is where he belongs. Art is in his Soul, inspiration in every part of him. He is a dreamer, a believer; someone who is not afraid to pursue something.
As he mingles he runs into several people who recognize him for his art, as well as a few he's modeled for. Chatting up everyone he makes several new contacts from referrals. After awhile he finds a mirror to check himself out. Turning he sees a couple joining him. They bought the first piece he ever sold, and have invested in him ever since. "I am not surprised to see you both here. I won't keep you but if we meet up next week I have more pieces to show you."
After talking for several minutes Galaxie continues his wandering of the Salon. |

Name: Pearl What do you do? Pearl takes, well.. pearls and crafts them into lovely, one of a kind jewelry pieces. She's also branching out and experimenting with creating carved pearl art. Who do you know? Unfortunately, Pearl doesn't really know a lot of people. She's just so busy with her art! What is Beauty, to you? Beauty is flitting, ephemeral and everywhere. It's in the single misty, silver beams of sunlight as the world wakes up, or the way the dewdrops collect in a flower. It's the way the sun touches a pearl and creates a soft, glow that looks silky enough to touch. For Pearl, beauty is the highest achievement and the end goal. Her ultimate goal to to create an exquisitely beautiful piece that makes the wearer look and feel beautiful, thus creating a beauty loop that she may glorify in. Give us an Image of yourself:  It seemed odd having to provide an image of herself once she was already inside, but if this helped her to find a patron for her art, well. Worth it! Handing the waiting attendant a small photo of herself, Pearl could only sit back and wait to see what came of it. |

Name: Li Mei
What do you do? "I am a freelance artist. I have worked for studios before, but most of my work is done simply in front of a canvas in my own home. Some of my paintings might even be here, for all I know. My buyers don't tell me where they go."
Who do you know? "Only my clients... some of whom you may know. But perhaps not."
What is Beauty, to you? "Beauty is a summer's night after a scorching day. Beauty is a sunrise. Beauty is you. Beauty is me. Beauty is... creation, existence, life. Death. It is the essence of everything and yet apart from it all. It is the muse that whispers in the stillness of sleep, that aches to be freed. It is as cavernous, as yawning as a mountain, and yet as small as a field mouse curled within a wild flower."
Give us an Image of yourself: Li Mei would take a broad brush and paint with bold strokes a self-portrait in rainbow hues. Working with near obsessive dedication to the essence of the painting, fingers suddenly finding the pigments and pressing them into the canvas, augmenting the brushwork to bold effect. With stained fingers she would sign her name along her collar line, then step back and pronounce the piece finished.

After awhile, Galaxie would find himself thanked and gently guided to potential new patrons, and encouraged to return in the future, but at this time, he would not find himself invited back behind the curtains in this set of open Salons.
After sitting for awhile, a woman in blue who had been seen around the events, arranging various details, would approach Pearl. She leaned in and whispered for the artist to come with her. Pearl would be escorted through the room, and up some stairs to a room decorated with various sketches of new fashion designs, most of them featuring a very similar looking model. Sitting at a desk, looking over her documents, was an elegantly dressed man. He looked up when Pearl entered and gave her a slight smile. "I am Ertéan, and your designs are delightful. I would love to see your work complimenting my own for... A long time. Would you care to join my organization?"
Should she accept, Pearl would soon find herself embraced, the first Childe of Ertéan, and hired to design jewelry for the House.
Li Mei would find that the attendant who took her form soon came back with an invitation to come to Ertéan's residence, with a request to create a portrait of the designer and his partner, and should she accept the offer... She would arrive at the home, and when she left, it would be as the artist who created their portrait but also a new member of clan Toreador.

Hector might notice, after he submitted his form, that several of the elegant staff members seemed to peruse it, murmur to each other, then pass it on to the next. There seemed to be a sense of indecision, but eventually someone grabbed the form before it could be passed on, and stalked out of sight, with an expression of 'Why is this my existence' on their face. Whether it was at the form or their coworkers was unclear, but there it was.
After a little while, the individual would return, holding a small envelope that they would slide to Hector. Inside, he would find a beautiful piece of parchment, with utterly elegant handwriting.
"Hector,
If you wish to be consumed by the passion of your beauty, our patrons would like to see your creations as the passion burns bright. Come to a meeting tomorrow night, and show us the depth of your emotions."
There was no signature, just an elegant E, but there was an address to go to. If he went to the meeting, he would be met by a handsome man. If he was familiar with the faces of the Fashion world, he WOULD recognize this man as the elusive Ertéan himself. If not, he would simply see that the man was dressed like no one else, though there were several others around, watching with interest.
At the end of the evening, whatever emotions Hector managed to paint, he would also find himself... Consumed by the results of his passions, and a new member of the Toreador clan. |
