He had agreed to help his Mom bring a shipment of local Matorian books to shops in Belrea. He wasn't yet all that comfortable here though, used to small markets and quiet beaches. The hustle and bustle of city life was a lot to process.
But hanging out in their bookstores was simply fascinating, they knew so much about strange and wonderful things. His mother really did have an illustrious ancestry and heritage. Though she preferred her little bookstore by the sea in Matori.
He was parusing a section on Belrean culture at the moment, picking up the odd book, reading the back, sampling the inside and putting it down again.

Belrea was a place of innovations and lots of people. Sometimes the place got a little too crowded and felt a little stifling. The young Matori wove her way through the throngs of people as she walked against the crowds. Having been born in Matori, but this was an adventure, having come to these lands on the first airships that crashed on Tendaji.
"Not sure about this one Lygs." She murmured to the strange scorpion that attached itself to her back, "This seems to have been the wrong time to travel these roads."
The creature on her back didn't make a sound as its compound eyes watched those that they passed, Neryssa herself sidestepped to avoid a group that took up most the street. Pressing herself carefully out of the way she sidestepped into the closest storefront. As she passed through the door she turned and looked around. The smell of paper and books was everywhere as she stared at the shelves lined with the items.
"Suppose we could have a look around until the streets clear a little, huh?" She glanced back at Lygs whom adjusted itself on her back to peer over her shoulder. "Might find something interesting, perhaps even something that might be from home." Though this was something she didn't think she would find.
Soft soled boots stepped carefully between the shelves as she looked at the books. There were many here, some about Belrea itself, others of other lands. There were books about farming, inventions made throughout the ages, even a book about the airships. Well, that one looked most interesting of all the rest on the shelves.

Little did she know that there was a big surprise from home in the book shop already. He heard the door jangle, signaling an entry and curious he looked around but didn't immediately find the subject. Bookworms were usually stealthy little wanderers, their whim fighting with logic to lead them to the books they sought. Every once in a while leading to an epic book. The kind that when he walked home from his moms shop he held close to his chest least anyone think of snatching it from him. Not that they would but he felt better for it.
Book had always been a bit of a security blanket for him, then again he had grown up in a bookstore.
He breezed around leisurely, enjoying the similarities and differences between the bookstore here and at home. But most of all enjoying a fraction of peace carved from the clutches of Belrea as a whole.
Eventually he drifted back to put his Mother's collection on a shelf. One of which she had written herself. A book about a lass with botany magic adventuring around Tendaji. To his mother tendaji was still exotic. To him Belrea was.
He finally found the lurker when he went to place a book on Tendaji style ships.
"Can I help you find anything?" He asked the Matorian politely. Far away for her, he should know, but there was the off chance her parents had moved here and had her. He thought maybe not as her dress was quite Matorian in nature.

Fin like ears twitched slightly as she heard, but didn't hear someone. Jumping a little Neryssa turned and looked at the boy that had spoken to her. Clutching the book she had been looking at to her chest she heaved a small sigh. It was just another... Perhaps local? She wasn't sure, she had been here so long that everything seemed to blend together. Mixed hybrids were popping up left and right. The world was moving quickly around her these days.
"Oh, hello." She said recovering and pulling on a smile. "I am just browsing as the streets seem to be a bit crowded at the moment." She glanced back towards the front of the shop.
"So do you work here?" She asked casually.

"I'm just helping out for a moment, also hiding from the crowded streets. I am from Matori, my Mother moved there to be with my Father, so I sitll find the rush and bustle of Belrea to be somewhat overwhelming." Much better to be amongst the books until he could once again return home to the land that had been his home from the start.
"Though I must say the Belrean selection of books is absolutely fascinating. They are so crafty."
A stunning, intelligent people, beautiful in their own right, but..well too many people period. He felt like it was hard to breath out there amongst the throngs when he was used to so much open space. They had crowds sometimes back home sure, but nothing that came even close to this.

Sliding the book that she had been holding back onto the shelf, Neryssa looked back towards the crowded street before giving a huff of a sigh. She wasn't going to be going too far for a bit yet. As her shoulders sagged a little, something that was attached to the back of her shirt shifted. A stinger tipped tail shifted as a Maglardilla shifted to here its head was peering over her shoulder. Neryssa gave a little bit of a shiver as its clawed feet dig back into her skin through her shirt.
"Awakened have you Lygs?" She asked reaching back to pet the creature before looking back to the boy. My parents live in Matori, I came from there to here back when the ships first crashed." She said as she was still petting the creature on her back. "I do miss home sometimes, but I wanted to explore the island and see how the people lived."
Neryssa did have to agree that those that lived in Belrea were crafty and knew what they were doing. Neryssa herself wasn't the most crafty, but she was good at entertaining others for the most part. Someday she would have to go back to Marori and show her family what she had learned. Also take back gifts as well.

"I'm about to head back myself, was just helping to put away a few volumes and I must admit, browse a little myself. But well, everyone in my family has a soft spot for books."
"My Mom jokes that I want to become an elementalist so I can make it thunder and rain when I want to stay in and read. Its not the real reason but it is a perk I will say."
"Cute maglardilla," he hadn't seen many around as pets but they were popular in some areas for sure.
"I find when I come here I miss home so much that if I stay too long seems to become unbearable, I feel so alive on a beach. Here is a bit of a tizy for me." He admired her adaptability.

"I have been here so long that sometimes I forget what home was like. Matori is so far away." She says before looking back at the shelves. "I am hoping to join a ship to travel the open seas. Someday at the very least."
Neryssa wandered down the line of books before stopping and looking back towards Rex. She wasn't sure if he followed her as she wandered, her attention looking back towards the rows of books. "Perhaps I should get a book that has maps of places that some people have discovered." She mused over, tilting her head to one side a little as she did.
