Sanguis had been on the move since he'd reawakened, relishing the changes that had taken over Faetasia. Gods and goddesses whose names he once knew were no longer presant; there were vacancies in positions, quiet where noise and movement had once been. On the other hand, new faces had risen up the ranks, and all of Faetasia teemed with life.

The blood of the world sang to him with every heartbeat. He knew where blood had fallen, even when it had long disappeared. He knew every drop of liquid red that was transferred, willingly and not, into the bellies of those that feasted upon it. Of course, like any God, Sanguis could turn down all that information, and he would, in time. For now, the god relished the cacophony and could not help but be pleased by it. For every living being that borrowed the liquid life he gave, he knew it was only a matter of time before it was returned in some form or fashion.

So the cycle continued.

As it was, Sanguis was on the hunt for a particular individual. Though he stopped, from time to time, to catch up with politics, or drift into a temple to see what was new, ever he pressed on, following an ancient trail of blood. At present, he was outside, among the woods and the trees. Night would fall soon, but that didn't bother Sanguis. He was far from the light of the city, and his focus was on something that happened an ancient time ago. Long had the blood dried from the land -- but there was an ancient mark he recognized. Blood could be spilled in all sorts of ways... but blood tasted by an ancient sword would always be known by him.

Umbra and Blooddrinker had their fill, millenias ago.

But they were not, alas, here.

The trail continued to move on, and Sanguis would need to continue his search.

Masahiro and Sanguis were not cut from the same cloth. Though relatives enough for it to count, one set out across the land with purpose. The other, simply to escape the population and find somewhere quiet. Somewhere to settle and recharge. Perhaps that was the upside to being a domainless God; new enough that the past could not be a bother to him coupled with the downside of being young enough to not properly belong in any one place.

The usual argument there was that young deities typically resided within their family temples. That had been a peaceful situation for him, for a time. When his mother and father separated, him taking a new Angelique and she taking to a Goddess, it... caused tension. Sprinkle in the extra sting of his mate vanishing with one of their children, and his remaining child invested in an Angelique of her own... bah. It was getting too crowded there. Too noisy.

The young deity came to a halt when he moved out of the forest line and spotted Sanguis. He did not need to know his name to know that this was another deity. To avoid coming across as entirely disrespectful, he gave the Blood God a bow of his head.

There was a change in the air, a presence that was not known or recognized to the god. For a brief moment he held a moment's hope, that perhaps he might have found the one he misplaced -- but the power grew, and was not known to him. It was that of another god, though not one he knew or remembered. Whether or not the source was one he simply had never met or known about, or someone born well-after his sleep, remained to be seen.

Thankfully, Masahiro did not hide himself but nor did he speak. Glowing red eyes looked over the other curiously, and he gave a small tilt of his own head in acknowledgment. He certainly knew not who the other was, and seeing him brought forth no memory. A god of the woods? A god of the night? He could have pried but felt no need -- he was another god, after all.

"Salutations, stranger. Have I trespassed upon your domain?" He questioned, not apologetically, but neutrally. He had little problem going where he pleased, even if that meant tromping through another's domain, or popping into their temple.

He wasn't necessarily a chattering god, but he saw no reason for silence, either. He hadn't expected to run into another deity, especially out in the middle of no where.

Delicious words.

Asking of his domain would have only entered in a disappointing answer. He was god of nothing. A more appropriate way to introduce himself would be son of Xevioso Goth, the God of Trickery. Even that could result in some degree of disappointment, as he did not share the mischievous streak of his father.

Nor did he share the striking beauty of his mother, whom constantly reminded him of what a disappointment he truly was. He rationalized this as the reason for Mischa vanishing with their son, removing herself from the shadow of his shame.

The younger God's initial response was a sigh falling from slightly parted lips. They were going to do the conversation thing, weren't they? "Greetings. No, I have not a Domain to tread upon." May as well get that out of the way now before there became any confusion of his status. Perhaps that could help them avoid the topic altogether. "If we are trespassing somewhere then I am not aware of it." Nor did he really care if he were. One day he may stumble upon the wrong side of a territorial deity and perish. Oh, the horror.

Sanguis heard the sigh, but assigned little care to it. The other gave off an air of indifference, but it mattered little to the newly awakened blood god. That they stumbled upon one another was a refreshing change for the god, no matter how unknowingly tedious it was for Masahiro. While he did not know the others name, nor his domain, he did get the distinct feeing that there was something youthful about the god in question.

Indeed, the stranger did not have the weight of others Sanguis had met, gods who were equal his age, or older. While there were plenty of gods who were missing, long forgotten, or asleep, during his travels he had found that younger generations were beginning to claw their way to the top.

Perhaps this stranger would be one of them.

"How...liberating," he stated, curiously. Domains were not everything, of course, but he had a wonder what one would do without. Wander? Follow ones passions or interests? Make trouble? Everything any other god could do, of course... But did that make him weaker? Stronger? Were there domains he held an interest in? Or did he just wander as one of the domainless?

A curious thing, really.

"I did not think to find any in this isolated territory. I'm Sanguis, god of blood. And you, ghost?" He asked, eyes glowing a brighter shade of red in curiosity. A name was a powerful thing, of course-- but the blood god had a thirst for knowledge, and little fear in introducing himself. His name was all but forgotten, so deep and so long had he slept -- learning who was who, and getting to know the youth of the world, was quite splendid in its own way.

The young deity had not bothered to think too much of it. If there were a domain he could possibly have an interest in, it was unknown to him. Something that he may stumble into someday and find himself surprised, or something that he may never find at all. At this point, it was the farthest thing from his mind. Such an awful mess of a place, full of self doubt and self loathing, the things his mother had instilled in him. Those pieces of him were what she chose to tend to dutifully, without fail, as he grew. They were the only reasons he had to even remember her by, truthfully. Cruel words dripping with venom that clouded his mind to this very day. He should be the last person that others came to for any reason at all.

Masahiro did not object to Sanguis' curious statement. Perhaps being domainless was liberating, who was he to say for certain? "...I did not think to find any, either. Yet here we are." Was that too rude to say? The deity thought very little of it and reached up to scratch claws against the underside of his chin lazily. His wings would stretch out only to settle comfortably against his back once more. "Masahiro. Though I can adjust to answering to Ghost if I must." He thought nothing about offering his name out freely as it carried no weight behind it and could not be used as any form of leverage. Ah, this realization helped him see that yes, domainless was liberating in it's own ways. He could drift through life with reckless abandon, to an extent anyway. He did have a daughter and her two children to protect.

Uta
smol words, I'm so sorry. It's been awhile since if I've shaken the dust and debirs off of Masa's muse.

Sanguis might have been on a mission to seek out his misplaced umbra... but he was not so hurried as to mind a diversion. The world had changed so much from what he remembered, and while he was sorting out the information as only a god could, he was also glad to simply be surprised by whatever happened his way.

"How auspicious then," he replied genially, certain it would be so. He did not mind company, and while he would not force the other to be amicable or equally sociable, he would at least attempt to make a connection. Politics was always the game of the gods and it would behoove him to better get to know the deities within Faetasia, younger generations included. This included Masahiro.

"We'll see what sticks," Sanguis agreed, tucking aside both names for the deity. He wouldn't object to calling the stranger by his actual name... but Ghost had an endearing quality that pleased the blood god greatly. "Might I ask what brings you to these woods? Have you been travelling long?" He added, curiously. He wasn't trying to pry out any information for any nefarious purposes... but he was curious, interested.

His friendly conversation wasn't simply out of obligation or lip-service. He genuinely wanted to know.

Doximoron
