Prompt 12 (Little Helpers) : You’ve acquired all the ingredients to make your favorite holiday treat and you’re prepared for a busy day of baking tomorrow. When you go to bed, everything is neatly arranged so you can get started bright and early. When you wake, you smell the distinct aroma of baked goods–the ones you had planned on making. When you investigate, you find that someone had used your ingredients to create your holiday treat–perfectly. Did someone sneak in and make treats for you? Did you bake in your sleep? …Are those tiny little footprints in the flour?

Christmas Cracker Candy. One of the best holiday treats on a budget and Dawn loved the stuff. It was fantastic. Salty, sweet, crunchy, and chewy. Chocolatey, buttery, and nutty since she loved to add some peanuts to them. Simple to make and easy to store. The hardest part was the caramel since you had to be careful not to over cook it, scorched caramel wasn’t very appetizing, but other than that it was super simple. It was also pretty quick to make which was another little godsend for Dawn. She was tight on both time and money, it's one of the reasons why she wasn’t going home to visit with her family. It was just too expensive and she couldn’t afford to take off from work. Besides right then was the most perfect time to work more since school was done for winter break so she could pick up more hours.

Between working, classes, training, patrolling, and volunteering her schedule had been packed full. Like full, full. Burning the candle on both ends, full. But still she persevered. She was going to get her degree, help tons of people, be a GREAT senshi, and still find the time to at least ship her family a little Christmas treat! So what if she ended up going a little short on sleep? Or that tea and coffee were her main food group lately, that and ramen noodles. It was cold so the heating was on which raised her electric bill. Sticking to soup and ramen served two fold, it was cheap and it helped keep her warm, since she ended up lowering her small apartment’s thermostat as much as she could without affecting her pipes, or freezing her out completely. Blankets and warm clothing was her current go to but soon she knew that she would be warm since she planned on spending her day off, an actual day off, to get all her baking done. All the cookies for neighbors and coworkers, all the treats for gifts, and most importantly the Cracker Candy for her family.

That needed to be done first because it needed to be packed and shipped before the deadline or it wouldn't make it in time. She had to get it done first thing. With that in mind she made sure everything was ready before going out to patrol, aka practice. It was all still in place when she came back, her feet practically dragging on the floor as she melted into her bed, tired as all get out. Her head barely hit the pillow before she was out, sleep claiming her for a few blissful hours before her alarm clock was to wake her at an ungodly hour.

The smell of warm cookies and chocolate brought her to groggy awakeness. “Mmmm little longer,” She muttered in her sleep as she flipped over, snuggling back under the covers. Then it hit her and she bolted right up, her blankets shoved to the end of the bed as she scrambled free of the warm mattress. Living in a studio apartment had its benefits, she had a clear view of her kitchen area and what she saw shocked her. Every available surface was covered in plates and trays of cookies, chocolate coated pretzels, and the Cracker Candy. All of the ingredients and utensils she had prepared the day before were gone, well the utensils were in the sink and clearly dirty.

Unsure on what to make of the small holiday miracle she was currently experiencing Dawn gingerly picked up a piece of the Candy and took a bite. “Yummy!” She practically moaned as the flavors just melted in her mouth. It was even better than what she normally made. “But who?” The urge to try more was squashed when her phone alarm went off. She had things to do and if some mysterious force of nature wanted to help her spread a little holiday cheer then she would oblige them. So without thinking much further on it she started the task of packing all the yummy, yummy sugary treats into their containers ready to be handed out.

The dishes could wait until she got back from the post office, cleaning up was the least she could do for her little mystery cookie helper.
