The countdown till her favorite time of year had begun. She could already she the decorations, the baked goods, the lights, the tree, pretty much everything she lived for right in her dreams. It was almost something she didn't want to wake up from. Since Christmas was her time of year! The one time in all the year she could be herself and no one judged her Christmas looks or jingle bell jewelry. But she knew it was time to wake up. As she slowly woke up from her night's slumber she placed her jingle bell slippers on the wooden floor of her room. The bells jingled ever so slightly and brought a smile to her face. She stretched her arms above her head, rubbed her eyes with her hand a small fist, and then stood up and stretched again.
She was now ready to begin her day as she walked over towards her desk. Once she arrived there she sat door in her red chair with white fluff and noticed her parents had left her a note. It read:
Good morning our Sweet Angel! We love you so much, sadly we had to rush off to work for a last minute meeting. So we have enclosed a credit card for you to go shopping. You are welcome to by whatever you need to make your favorite holiday treats. Then as soon as we get back home, we will have a Christmas baking party.
Love you lots, Mom and dad <3
As she read the letter she couldn't help but smile even more. She truly was a blessed girl, and she had the most wonderful parents a girl could ever ask for. As she folded up the letter and was placing it in her desk drawer. The credit card her parents had left for her was sitting on her desk right behind it. She quickly grabbed her candy cane wallet, placed the card inside, and then grabbed her candy cane striped sparkly Christmas loungefly bag to place it inside. That way she wouldn't lose the card and it was safely zipped up away in her bag. After all if her parents trusted her like this she wanted to show them they could trust her completely.
As soon as she did all that she quickly got dressed to get ready to go shopping for all her Christmas baking dreams. Her outfit of choice today was a red velvet dress that went past her knees and had white fluff around the bottom and sleeves end. She also wore a Santa hat and some black winter boots adorned with a jingle bell necklace. Now she was officially ready for her first Christmas Baking outing!
As she headed down the stairs she yelled out to their wonderful house keeper, "I'm going to the store! I'll be back soon!" After that she opened their large front wooden door, closing it quickly behind her, and then she took her key from her backpack to lock it up tight. With that she headed down the street happy humming to Christmas Carols she loved. "Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go," she hummed walking quickly as she went. Before she knew it she had arrived at the grocery store and the automatic doors opened before her.
Stepping foot into the store felt like she had entered a magically land filled with everything she could desire. She quickly shook her head trying to remember she had a task to focus on. That task was shopping for sugar cookie and she needed to completely that quickly and swiftly. She grabbed her bag off her back and pulled out a list that had all the ingredients needed.
The ingredients she needed were: unsalted butter, granulated white sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, baking powder, salt, and all purpose flour.
Luckily it was a pretty easy list and she was confident she could be done quickly. She raced through the store up one aisle, and down another. Before she knew it she had completed her short list and was at the checkout line. She smiled at the cashier as it became her turn, watched as the items went down the belt and got scanned. Before she knew it she had swiped her credit card and then she was ready to head home with her bags of ingredients.
As she arrived at her homes doorsteps she rang the doorbell, since her hands were occupied with bags, and their wonderful housekeeper came and opened the door. Not only that but she insisted on taking the bags to the kitchen so her arms could get some rest. She definitely didn't refuse the help, since her arms were in fact tired. The walk was longer than she had realized and really her whole body was tired too. Once she got inside she closed the door and headed to the kitchen. The housekeeper had already lined everything up on the middle island and was placing bowls and cute Christmas cookie cutters on the counter for whenever she was ready to begin. "Thank you," she said politely as she smiled.
She quickly looked for the clock and tried to see the time. From the looks of it she had been gone longer than she thought and so it was time to already head back to bed. Especially if she wanted to make those cookies with her parent when they arrived home. So she quickly ran upstairs and jumped in bed hoping to get her energy back before her parents arrived home.
She must have slept longer then she thought because when she woke up she smelled the smell of ... cookies? There was no way her parents would have started without her. Before she knew it her feet were running towards the kitchen. To her disbelief the kitchen was a disaster with flour all over the floor and what looked like little foot prints in it. She shook her head and followed the smell to the kitchen table where the most beautiful magical sugar cookies were. It was like someone had created her dream cookies but who had done this? Was it here in her sleep? she quickly checked her feet and their was nothing on the bottom. They were completely clean. So she looked around and that was when she saw it a little green hat was hiding underneath their center countertop on the floor. Adults would have missed it but not her, as she picked it up, she smiled. That was when she knew Christmas magic had visited her house and that was all she needed to know.
"Thank you Santa's Little helpers," she whispered under her breath as she hid the hat behind her back as her parents walked downstairs. After all she had a lot of explaining to do with this mess around her.
