The meeting was mandatory, for once. After Faustite had oriented himself at the front of his desk, he opened both hands to the ether and pulled for each member on the team. Some — the Eternals — could not be pulled into being in the same manner as the Captains, Supers, Basics and Lieutenants, but he hoped they felt it all the same.

The meeting would be a short one. Thus, there were no refreshments provided. 10 PM was a late enough hour that most abstained when they weren't on his schedule; he expected they would appreciate that he intended for this meeting to be a few minutes at most.

To accommodate the team, Faustite had to manage some rearrangement — push the chairs and the desk to the wall, ensure the bookcases were shut, shove the writing desk and chairs into a corner. It promised enough room for everyone if they remained standing. If they hadn't wanted to stand, they could sit in the hall with the door open. He expected Pax might go for that, might need the breathing room from the surfeit of power and strangeness endemic to the team.

He waited until each head was accounted for. Tragically, there wasn't enough room to pace.

"Evening." Flame eyes wicked back and forth. "Will keep this short.

"Money can't buy what we need for our upcoming endeavors. Know it's a pain, but it's easier to start stockpiling now and gain as much as we can. Will be well worth it in the end.

"Energy or starseeds, whichever you bring in, double it for the next few weeks. We're going to need as much as you can give.

"Cats, I will see you after dismissal."

Tama walked into Faustite’s office in well enough time. He was beginning to have some respect for these meetings. Well, at least mandatory ones, anyway.

He didn’t bother relinquishing his cat form. The office wasn’t that big and, being necessary to attend, he expected the whole team. Which meant Faustite’s room would be full so best be small.

“Already being asked to stay after class.” He said as he slipped into the form of a loaf and waited on one of the desks in the corner. “I wonder what I’ll be scolded for this time.”

Tugged from getting ready for bed into a hall -- into warm via Faustites volatile heat and the density of bodies in the room -- Thank goodness for that, because his outfit offered little in the way of coverage.

Cryolite about-heeled and slid past an appearing Albite's manic cheshires grin, met it with a lemon-sour frown and rolled eyes, "Do I dare ask what specifically we'll be needing such a large quantity for?"

The details sparse enough that Cryolite maybe wanted more in the way of information, especially if it was going to cut into his precious moments of free time. For all his pout, n pursed lips, Albites following suggestion of pairing up -- he did happen to like.

Abite blinked, n he was there, smoothing out wings, rocking into a free space n smiling at the presence of their team -- he nearly cooed for how cute Tama was. Kittn lookin like some tasty ball of brioche, "Daww, Tama-gato -- sometimes staying after class is fun! Maybe you'll get a turn as teachers pet~"

Waru was excited for this, maybe not the amount of sleep he'd be missing out on, n a lack of valuable cuddle times, but? Having a directive to follow always made things a little easier, especially since they had such a large team to help manage it with.

"Side's doesn't really matter what it's for. We c'n get 'em real fast -- faster even if we pair up, yeh? N'it's good practice Cry'..." tilting on a thick heel to give his friend a gentle nudge.

Fulgurite felt the pull.

To be honest, it was a new sensation to be able to resist it. There was a part of him that wanted to just for the sake of rebellion, but where exactly would that get him? He was an agent. He was an eternal. The s**t that had been done to him had literally trapped him for an eternity, and there was no foreseeable escape without hurting his family in some way. Better to just adjust.

He followed the beckon, albeit by his own accord, albeit by something that still felt outside of his control, and settled near Albite and Cryolite. That was technically the division of this team he was on anyway, wasn't it?

Stockpiling? Stockpiling what--

Ah.

His gaze slid toward Albite and hardened, though he said nothing aloud. It slid away just as quickly, and he asked, "Should we be concerned?" Every time there was a large starseed operation, there was usually some ******** chaos afterward.

Of course, they were chaos.

Borax had found himself thankful this meeting was so late at night. It was a bit unfortunate that he had been working on charming a particularly handsome man at the club, but semantics. He'd deal with that later.

This was a good opportunity to get some visuals on the team he was part of, the team Faustite commanded. His height provided him a decent view despite how crowded the room was, even if he only saw the hair of some. There had to be about twenty people in the room by his estimation. A considerable amount of them appeared to be one of the highest ranks, which to Borax implied Faustite's strength as a leader. For those who could branch off to continue to follow him, they had to see something.

On the other hand, all managing directors held the same theoretical rank even if some of them still managed the others.

He stopped trying to calculate and place everyone as Faustite began speaking, and what followed made his eyebrow quirk.

Double energy or starseed gathering for the next few weeks.

Oh.

His lips quirked. "No problem, Faustite."

Faustite stared, half-lidded, at the blonde who asked the question. He hated when questions were phrased that way — dare I ask — too on the nose for insolence, too imprecise for information. But he wasn't here to tell Albite how to train his subordinates to behave.

"No. You don't," he answered simply.

Though, Albite's comment, that just earned a grimace. One that wanted to stay on his face forever as he tried his damndest to avoid thinking about what 'teacher's pet' would mean between them. Absolutely not. Definitely not. He'd rather eat a cockroach with his mouth than do a damn thing with that cat. Hell, he'd rather ingest an entire dumpster's worth of rotting garbage first.

Having shuddered bodily, Faustite cast his attention to the rest of the room. Some senshi — oh, one of Albite's — asked about concerns. When would that boy teach his subordinates to heel? Ridiculous.

"No. You should be doing your job. Leave the concern to us." He was growing testy. Maybe it was the room, maybe it was how crowded it had got for a five minute meeting. After spending a possible fifteen seconds on speaking, it went without saying that the rest of that five minute meeting would be devoted to questions, right? Or were people supposed to leave? Whatever, didn't matter. He was fielding questions now, questions that he would not have trained his recruits to ask so frivolously, questions that he never invited anyone to ask in the first place.

At least Jadarite's subordinate knew to accept the task at hand and keep his mouth shut. He didn't want to offer a reason, but he supposed he would offer something else Albite's lot would keep whining.

"Consider this a protocol. If there's nothing else, dismissed."

“I don’t want to be teacher’s pet.” Tama whined. The cat — or gato (he hadn’t realized the senshi spoke Spanish) — rolled his eyes at Albite. Why was this one always like this?

“Well, at least in any manner in which you are implying it.”

Still, Tama couldn’t help but be glad for Albite’s presence. He made these meetings more entertaining. Besides, he seemed to have a calming influence on Faustite and Tama considered that a moral good well worth dealing with the senshi’s sometimes foolish actions.

The cat eyed Fulgurite’s question. Should they been concerned?

There was, of course, a reason for concern. No one needed a cache of starseeds for nothing. But asking what for was just asking for trouble. The last time Tama mentioned anything about starseeds and what Faustite had wanted to use them for he’s almost had all his fur burned off.

He kept a watch in Faustite and his curt remarks. He was revealing nothing to his team. Tama waited.

Helio was prompt the the summons needed meeting. He'd been free for the day and, beyond his typical evening class, he had nothing of import going on. He was surprised at how clipped and short the meeting was. Something like this could have been conveyed via tablets so for Faustite to have called them he must have wanted to drive home the point.

Eyes slid to Tama who, of course, had to continue to goad the fiery General. Helio was all too aware the measures Faustite could go to reprimand a subordinate and he doubted it would halt at a teams mauvian. Still, perhaps a bit of finesse would be used? He almost snorted. Most likely not. "Behave, Tama." Helio also voiced as he eyes the white feline with mirth. "Don't go poking the fire."

Helio was one to talk of course. But at least he had magic to counteract the fiery flames if it came down to it.

"I have something for you then, Faustite." He said as he reached into subspace and pulled out a basic, black drawstring bag. It looked similar to some sort of dice bag or make-up bag but it bulged with with the tell-tale sign of being nearly overstuffed to capacity.

He walked up to the General while glancing to the other in the room. The bag he held by the strings. "I've been...collecting beyond my quota." Inside, Faustite would find a small collection of 11 starseeds. It was a small cache he'd been saving for a possible specific emergency. "It should be a decent start." He gave the General a look said 'I am trusting you with these. Don't be stupid.'

He'd have to compensate for the loss of his small stash but he wasn't going to hold onto them when they could be utilized instead of just hoarded.

The purple and blue corrupt had arrived like the others, but in contrast, he hung back, letting the others move closer and claim attention. Not that there was much room in the cramped office to be doing much of anything with them all here... Fafnir stood quietly instead, his eyes narrowing at this call for an increased quota.

Double the normal quota? As if he wasn't busy enough already... How he was going to fit extra energy collection in among the rest, he wasn't quite sure. This might end up being a job for that little trinket he'd picked up over the summer, when they'd been pulled into that dark, other space. There had been energy there... and that energy was a lot more appealing and easier to gather than energy from ordinary citizens. And starseeds? He'd rather triple his energy quota than have to resort to them...

Which is why, when Heliodore turned in a whole bag of them, he felt himself go cold. His gaze snapped to the bag as it was passed over and then up to the bit of Helio's face that he could see, his thoughts turning over this development and what it might mean about his newly-returned younger brother.

Weaving and squeezing his way past the rest of the team, Fafnir slid up behind his brother and reached to take his elbow. He leaned in close beside the purple hair, his voice low for just the two of them.

"Where did you get an entire bag of those?" He murmured, a hint of reproach in his voice.

Cryolite muttered something less than cordial under his breath for being brushed off an answer and dismissed at a glance, the icy bit of ire rolling in his sockets (till he knew the folds of pink that lay behind them) increased tenfold when Helio brandished a whole ******** *bag* of starseeds, his utterance if ‘kissass’ was kept to a dull, low, hiss of syllables, because really? Really!?

“Since he’s gotten a head start — we’re absolutely teaming up on this, right Fulgurite?”

If he didn’t get a ******** medal for this, a raise, some time ********, he was shunting a quarter of his needs Albites way, regardless. Eternals had it easy insofar as he’d seen, especially when it came to gathering materials for who the hell knew what.

All the teachers Albite had ever known had the coolest pets!! Hamsters, rabbits, pit bulls. It looked like Tama would get his wish though.

“We’ll s**t, guess you don’t have to worry about it Tama —- looks like Helio’s gonna be the Pet of the Month this time. Maybe even Cat of the Month if he keeps that up!”

And really, to Albite? That made the most sense. Helio had some Best Pet qualities! Well groomed, feisty, really white teeth…

The Eternals eyes strayed Fafnirs way as he pushed to the front, all lit up to be in the same room as so many people he admired! More wings meant a faster gain meant they’d get theirs done with time to spare for the team! Faster even if they made a race of it! Oh, or games!

Tama’s ears flattened at Heliodor’s admonishment. He knew too well about poking fire. Still, gave the senshi a salty look.

“I assure you I’m on my best behavior.”

He eyed the massive bag of starseeds the senshi held. Well, someone’s trying to get into Faustite’s good graces. The cat practically rolled his eyes. Heliodor had given the general a handsome gift — whether for the mission or for a snack later.

Perhaps Tama should start bringing gifts. He’d have to leave a dead mouse on Faustite’s doorstep later.

Still, that was a hefty amount of starseeds and the question of where he had gotten them all was an intriguing one. Tama still, too, had complex feelings on starseeds. He knew they were souls. Part of him flinched as he could hear them bang against each other in the bag, no more than shiny trinkets.

Was it not the right of the powerful to take what they wanted?

“It does look like I’m out of the running, Albite.”

Taaffe was not expecting to end up in Faustite's office tonight, in fact she hadn't been intending to do anything outside of work on her paper and study for her midterm exams, but of course the negaverse had other plans.

She frowned trying not to feel a bit overwhelmed by everyone's aura, all so close on top of one another. Not to mention, she didn't really know who anyone was, she felt woefully out of place. Still, she stood attention and looked bored eyes roaming over the room taking in faces.

When Faustite said they needed to gather double what they were gather she was a bit irritated. She honestly didn't want to be out every night trying make that happen and study on top of that.

She spotted Fafnir and have him a less than pleased expression, though she doubted he saw since he wasn't there a moment later. They were essential dismissed immediately and she wondered couldn't they have just gotten a message or something.

To be honest, Borax wasn't sure why some of them were asking for more information. When an order came from an infernal demon, probably best not to question it; he wasn't the source of their power, necessarily, but he certainly could take it away. Faustite did not seem inclined to give more until he did, and even then, it was to the vaguest degree possible. A protocol was hardly an explanation and made him think of when a manager didn't want to explain themselves.

To Borax, it really didn't matter. He was itching to get his hands on more starseeds, like Heliodor had, evidently. Fafnir was muttering something to Heliodor about that; Borax took note of some sort of connection there, even if he didn't have the context for it just yet, and couldn't hear what was being said. Better to keep track of who seemed tighter...

Cryolite seemed closer to Fulgurite, for one.

(As he looked around, he was beginning to realize how common Negaverse senshi had their whole starseed exposed and accessible. He was rather glad he wasn't a senshi. Best that his own soul stayed very firmly within his own chest.)

They were dismissed quickly, and Borax was tempted to head back to a more intimate work, but as a lieutenant, he couldn't leave anyway. He was ... increasingly wanting to not be a lieutenant as quickly as possible. Best that he just keep watching and tracking the interactions of the others.

Protocol. Right.

Fulgurite rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. Great. Protocol. Protocols for the Negaverse definitely sounded like a hell he wanted nothing to do with, but there he was, and there wasn't really much he could do as an alternative. Could he just disobey? It would probably suit well-enough in the short term, but it wouldn't serve the purpose of Albite continuing to do his s**t for him--

How many starseeds did Heliodor have in that damn bag? At least a dozen, by his eyeballing, considering what he'd count out for a bouquet. ******** hell. Eleven souls were gone. And to think, at one point he had taken starseeds because he was expected to without much other thought to it other than general anger. Felt good to beat people up for it, in a way.

He could do it again. Couldn't leave anyway. Might-as-well detach himself from it.

Nectaris would be so disappointed.

"Hm?" He glanced at Cryolite, uncrossing his arms and shaking his shoulders out. "Yeah, absolutely. We're getting shown up. Looks like he already doubled his quota."

How much energy would they need to scrape to even come close to equating that?

Fafnir's sudden appearance at his side hadn't bothered Heliodor at first. It was interesting how close proximity to the older man was so quickly accepted and normalized considering how recently they had been reunited. What Helio didn't appreciate was the tone of voice utilized. He glance at his brother, but didn't pull away as a hand clasped his elbow. He managed not to roll his eyes. "Probably how anyone else would get them." He said, turning his head to meet Fafnir's blue one. He kept his own voice low to match. "I've been gathering them the past few months in case of an emergency. A drunkard here, a homeless person there. A senshi or knight."

Was Fafnir judging him? At one point Helio had his own reservations about starseeding, but they had been quaffed very quickly during his training with Schorl. He'd mitigated it with taking the starseeds from people he felt wouldn't particularly be missed. Or their enemies. Whichever presented a good opportunity.

Waru's comment pulled Helio's attention from his brother to the green clad corrupt. "I heard that." He said with a hint of laughter. "You're just jealous it isn't you, Albite."

Other's he heard also mumbling about his current presentation of starseeds. If only they had known why he felt the need to keep a small stash of them and why he worried still as he handed them off to their General. Quote doubled or not for the month, Helio would make sure to replenish his stash again, but perhaps keep it to smaller number. Honestly, the amount he had collected was excessive for the intent, but that was hindsight now.

Faustite blinked at the lot of them. "'Dismissed' means 'you can leave'," he explained, knowing there were a few among them that wouldn't yet be accustomed to military language. The kid, Taaffeite, he could understand. Borax, too, since he worked at a bank. Some of the others that struggled to balance the Negaverse with their ordinary lives. But most of them stuck around. As if they wanted to gawk or listen in on his conversation with the Mauvian. Might have to scruff that cat and take it somewhere else.

With their ******** still on his mind, Faustite hadn't spared a look at Fafnir when he sidled close to Heliodor, but he did stare up at Heliodor with blatant surprise when the boy all but dumped a bag of starseeds into his hands. This, he immediately tossed toward Albite with the quick command that he be the one to turn those in. "From now on, starseeds go to Albite. Don't worry, he remembers where they're supposed to go." He shot the boy an exasperated look.

He laid eyes on everyone there, know that everyone had gotten the summons and heard him. He expected there would be timely quota deliveries from each of them.

Turning, Faustite climbed atop his desk, then picked up Tama as he straightened. In his free hand flourished a rolled up piece of parchment that was banded shut, and he tucked it into Tama's collar. Voice a whisper, he explained, "Need you to build this. Tell no one."

The cat watched as the team filed out of the room. Well, eventually. It seems the general very well needed to define ‘dismissed’.

Tama knew to stay after and he waited. But then Fautite picked him up — without asking. Like he was some object he was clearing off his desk. Rude!

The cat-form Mauvian was about to let out a little growl when a small letter was hidden in his collar and Faustite whispered in his ear.

His violet eyes became pretty little saucers.

“Special mission for me?” He whispered in case any of the others still had not grasped the meaning of ‘dismissed’.

The cat winked before scurrying out the door and not waiting for a response. “I thought you’d never ask!”
