Work was stressful for Liam as of late, he never knew when they would turn up. They being some random family member of his. If it wasn't someone turning up at his job it was someone turning up at his home, banging on his door and shouting, or harassing phone calls and texts. How they'd managed to get his phone number was beyond him, though he suspected they had the money and connections to do this, he was stressed and rather than go back to Rhona and let her know it was getting worse...he marched on and let the stress eat at him bit by bit. He didn't need a fight...he just wanted them to go away and leave him alone. He'd even had a call from the hospital looking for him - he was apparently late for an appointment. He'd managed to handle that problem rather well, explaining the situation to the person on the phone.
They were just causing him such issues and all he wanted to do was go no contact with them - all of them. He'd continued to block numbers, close text messages and delete voice mails.
The worse part was how much he'd wanted a family, his family, when he was growing up in an oprphanage. It had been a big wish of his....big enough he'd turned down every family which had wanted him. Now he wished he'd never been found by them...that they'd never sought him out.
As he finished ringing someone up he moved around the counter to help someone else, the place was packed due to the time of year and it kept him distracted - thankfully. He didn't notice everyone walking in either, a good thing perhaps. It gave him some time to try and unwind and destress, he needed it really. The blond was figuring he might just hit the gym tonight and try and wear himself out so he could sleep peacefully, because the stress made sleeping hard for him now.

“You look like you’ve seen better days,” Jett noted; he came to visit sometimes, and usually bought something and tipped well any time he was in the area. He wasn’t a fan of the crowded area himself, but it boded well that there were so many people shopping here.
He liked to see success and small business thrive.
Although, it did come with the unfortunate consequence of having to deal with customers. A lot of them, apparently.
Jett was dressed well enough, but he always was. With the chill in the air, it was an excuse to layer up. He’d never been a fan of winter, and he might have just decided to visit so he could take a break from the cold.
“Everything going okay?”

He knew Jett came here often enough, he'd seen him a fair amont of times, but he wasn't expecting him today. Jett didn't give warning really. "I feel like I've been run over." Came the blonds responce.
"Yeah, everything here is ok." It was other things, personal things, he really wished he could find a solution to the issue without giving into the demands. He was not about to give into the demands of a family who had never wanted him, till now.
"Family troubles." Only he was fairly certain Jett knew he was an orphan. He didn't have a family...yet he was mentioning a family.

Jett kept it to himself that he looked like he’d been run over too. He looked exhausted and worn down, and hearing that it was more than just customers made a lot more sense.
He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. Family troubles could mean a lot. Could mean a lot more when he was pretty sure Liam didn’t have family. He scanned the room around them out of habit, but they had a bit of space between them and anyone else.
He had a penchant for sticking his nose into other people’s business, and Liam had practically invited him to ask for more information.
“What kind of family troubles?”

"The sort where I wish I'd never found out I had family." And he had always wanted family, not that many knew that. But he'd given up homes in the hopes his real family might turn up. They had, no, and he wished they never had.
"It's a good thing Rhona is my boss." Or he might have been fired after the last incident, he didn't know how adults could behave as they had since he'd met them. His half siblings all were older and behaved like spoiled children stamping their feet and making threats, and name calling, it was a surprise to know that they were all older...they certainly didn't act it. He was certain he had little half nieces and nephews as well, more family for someone who had grown up with none. He knew he'd never meet any children his half siblings had, he was certain of it, and he was sort of ok with it. It hurt to know that they had sought him out but for some sort of gain, that they didn't care about him, he wished they had sought him out for all the right reasons. If, and when, he could back them off he knew he'd never hear from or see them again...and he didn't want to.
"Seems the reason I was left at an orphanage with a note was because I was a - "
His words were cut off as someone shouted the word, the same one he was about to say, someone was calling him a b*****d and pointing at him. "Seems like someone beat mee to the punch." As golden blond in hair color as he was, though with green eyes, the figure was taller but less broad that Liam. They werre dressed in a well pressed, and fitted, suit with a tie of a deep emerald green color. For a moment Liam considered how to respond before he decided to go for something casual, no need to rile up his elder half brother.
"You're going to cause a scene. You should consier the children here." And there were a few children here, with their partents, and he was certain some parents were covering the ears of their poor children. It also seemed that his brother didn't care, no shock there. Looking to Jett he shook his head slowly. "This is what I mean...." And he moved towards his half brother, to try and minimize his reason for shouting and being so loud.

Jett was significantly less patient when it came to someone harassing any member of the Court, so as soon as someone targeted Liam–regardless of the intention, and even without full information, he frowned. He moved with Liam towards the stranger.
He didn’t recognize him, didn’t care about him.
Did care about Liam, and did care about preserving the integrity of Rhona’s establishment.
He was sure Liam could handle it–or, maybe, if he could have then he would have already. So, Jett–looking as professional and businessman-like as he did already, took it upon himself to ask the stranger, “Is there a problem here?”

"Of course there is!" The well dressed blond snapped, while jabbing his finger towards Liam. "He won't help our mother - the b*****d could at least be a proper son and help our mother." Why he was answering a stranger was simple, they were obviously with his brother. Who they were didn't matter to him, maybe if he got someone close to his brother on his side he could get the brat to do what he should have already done. "I already told you, and your sister, and your father, I have no connection to her and I'm not helping. I'm not interested in subjecting myself to any medical procedures to please you all." They had done nothing for him and he was certain they never would, even if he did everything they wanted and he could save her, and did in fact save her. He was sure they'd toss him away like his mother had done when he'd been born.
He was glad to have Jett here, as embarassing as some might find this, he felt a bit of relief having someone at his side standing there and speaking up as well. He was certain Jett would side with him, especially if his step brother continued to open his mouth and talk about just what was going on. His step brother might just dig himself a grave..and maybe step at least one foot into it. But having someone else there gave him a bit more confidence, more than he usually had anyway.
"This." Gesturing to the other blond. "Would be my step brother. He'd only recently come into my life, he likes to make demands of me. The rest of his family does as well." Since they weren't his family.

“Ahhh,” Jett said knowingly; he nodded. “I see, of course. Familial obligations and all, honoring the bloodline, paying tribute to those who brought us into this world. Blood for blood and all.”
He seemed almost sympathetic to the would-be step brother and crossed his arms over his chest as he considered. “...What’s in it for him? I mean, clearly this is important to you. And you’re well dressed, put together. You come from money? How much is helping your mother worth?”
He was well dressed, himself. And, a businessman, at his core. But this probably wasn’t even about the money, anyway. Maybe–probably–he just wanted to give the guy a hard time. It was Liam’s choice to help–or not–and Jett supported it. But, a price tag sometimes changed the game.
Or made people think about what was really important.

"Why would we pay him? It's his mother as well and he needs to do his duty and help." If he could, a part the golden blond left out of course. But why on Earth would they pay this one anything?? He was just their little half brother..a. b*****d child who didn't belong. Why should they give him anything? He should be thankful he could be useful, if he could even manage that. He was some dirty blooded child, Liam's father had been their mothers biggest mistake. The man had been the family chef, they'd hired him from Italy and brought him over to cook for them.
It was still a wonder how their mother had found the guy attractive at all and what he'd done to get her interested in him. But once the fling had been found out, his mother had confessed at the same time as mentioning being pregnant, their family chef had been deported and someone new hired and brought in. Someone uglier but who could at least cook. They didn't need the family chef to have good looks...just good taste buds.
"If he needs payment how about I tell him who his father is." Since his b*****d brother likely had no clue. A price? There was no way he'd be bought, not for any amoutn of money, he knew they'd never accept him and just hearing his half brother speak he knew it. They'd never consider him family, to any degree, they just wanted him because he might serve some use to them. Like an object or a tool to be used and discarded once done with.
"They couldn't pay me enough." He stated, bblue eyes locked onto Jett as he spoke. "They dumped me at an orphanage and now just want my help. All I've heard from them is demands for me to do things for them." They had offered nothing not even a kind word or a greeting...nothing.
"They keep turning up and calling and texting." And he'd done his best to deal with it, he really had, but this was too much. It had honestly been too much for a while now. They wouldn't stop it seemed, at least that's what he'd been feeling for a while now. They might once his motehr died, if she did, but than the harassment to help might just change into something else. He didn't trust them...they all semeed obsessed and perhaps a bit unhinged even.

Jett almost even seemed like he was considering both sides. He nodded along with each of them and then shrugged. “Well, you seem like you’ve got your mind set on that, don’t you?”
He suspected as much, and he had no desire or will to let Liam subject himself to harsh treatment or bullying by his would-be ‘family’. The word meant nothing when it was used as a pressure point. They had no bond to hold them together, so the pressure for Liam to perform based on their whims.
He turned back to the stranger. “Sorry, then. It doesn’t seem like he’s interested. I guess you don’t have anything to make it worth the trouble.”

For a moment he worried, and wondered, if Jett might suggest he at least consider or listen to his elder half brother. But he was certain Jett wouldn't push him into going through with things, with offering himself up for parts to his sick mother. He'd never even met her, even now with how needy she was. It was always a half sibling speaking for her, speaking for themselves, it was never her.
"Mmm, yeah. I'm not about to help." He answered slowly, watching as his elder brothers cheeks seemed to go red, and he seemed ready to start shouting. That didn't look good at all. While his half brother wasn't lacking in form, he certainly didn't look like some frail beanpole of a person, Liam also had noted that his own arms seemed a bit larger than his half brothers. Maybe it was due to the senshi side job or lifting things here, when they had to move things in the backroom, but Liam had bulked up a bit over time. He'd also been able to eat better than he had in the orphanage.
He'd never look as well groomed as his half brother though, nor would he ever liokely wear a suit and tie. "Tell everyone to stop bothering me." He hated all the messages, texts, calls and being harassed at home and elsewhere. It made him want to hide at home or inside mirrorspace at some points. He didn't want to hear it all the time, even he needed a break from such things, he was certain other people would have snapped by now. That was it! How dare his little brother deny them - deny his mother! She could have aborted him and yet she hadn't and now he did this! "She should have aborted you, you're as useless as your father was!" More than his father, at least the man could cook and had done so for the family for years before the short affair.
"The only use you could ever serve this family and you turn it down." How dare he! He could for once be useful to the family and do his duty, as a member of the family, and provide their mother what she needed. That was all he needed right? Serve his purpose and than vanish as if he didn't exsist, why would he need or even deserve more? He should be honored if he could help and serve them in some useful, and meaningful way, it was more than anyone had thoguht he'd amount to and it really was all he'd ever amount to really.
"This isn't over." For now it was, because he wasn't alone, but he'd make sure his family got what they needed. Turning he headed out. He'd let his sister and father know; they'd handle this.

Jett tilted his head just slightly as he watched the man walk out. He crossed his arms over his chest and tapped on his arm thoughtfully. He gave it a few seconds until the man was completely out the door before he half-turned to Liam.
“Classless. Doesn’t seem like any sort of ‘family’ I’d want anything to do with, you’re better off without them. Not sure what he came here hoping to accomplish. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, but I guess he didn’t get that memo. If he keeps bothering you, I’ll get my lawyer involved. You should file a restraining order to keep him away.”
It seemed unlikely that he’d be changing his tune anytime soon, so Liam would have been better off without them. Seemed like a foolish thing to do–abandon someone their whole life and then come back to demand something of them.
Jett would have done the same as Liam. Probably would have been a much worse sport about it.
Not like he wasn’t already thinking about tracking this guy down and draining him so he didn’t have the energy to do anything more to bother Liam.
He might still.
“Get me his information, and the names of anyone else who has been giving you a hard time, though. I want to make sure the others keep an eye out for them.”

"I think they tried with honey already, at least what they'd consider honey." Shrugging his shoulders as he spoke honestly. His own blue eyes turning from the door and focusing on Jett. "I think they are worried and having emotional issues, something I doubt they know how to handle. They've had things likely handled to them, things they can just afford so easily, and now they can't just get what they want. I doubt they know how to handle it." So they were trying by force and getting needy...too needy.
"My half sister hasn't been much better. I didn't want to take it so far. I'd been hoping I could ignore them...or that maybe they'd get the hint." Which clearly they weren't, and he couldn't ignore them any longer. It kept going and going...and he doubted they'd stop till the woman they called mother was dead, and he was certain he wouldn't care one bit - not any more.
"I wish it hadn't come to this...." He still sort of wished he could have had the happy ending he'd wanted as a child, some family member coming to take him away and give him a home and family...and love. Even though he saw what they were like he could still wish for a dream he could never have. He'd been loyal enough to sink every other chance at a family he'd ever had growing up, all to wait for them. If only they'd cared for him as he'd cared for them.
"I can get their information...I've never seen the step father....but I'm certain he'll turn up at some point..." He would get the information for Jett, let him do whatever he wanted with it. Let him warn the others. He'd had to show more care for when he powered up, it wasn't easy, he had to watch when and where he powered up. "You don't think a restraining order will make things worse? And, can you help me with that? I don't know what to do, or rather how."

Jett listened with natural curiosity, but he seemed to have immediate disdain for this family. He seemed particularly abrasive to anyone who seemed entitled to anything, especially when they were so crass and careless.
Especially when it was threatening a member of the Dark Mirror Court.
“I can help. I’ve got good lawyers, they can walk you through everything. If you need me there, I’ll be there.” Money wasn’t an issue for him, not now. “If they’re smart,” and at this point, he really doubted it, “A restraining order should make them take the hint. If it doesn’t do the job, they’ll get to enjoy some time in county jail. Someone there’ll be all too happy to knock them off their high horse.”
He doubted they wouldn’t make bail, and if they were wealthy then they probably had lawyers who could do a decent job to get them off the hook.
But, it was a deterrent, at least.
“And if they give you more trouble than that, I’ll handle it personally.”
Mirrorspace could be convincing. He’d just leave them there for a few days and take what energy they had. Better they spend it on something productive than wasting Liam’s time, anyway.

"I'd like that, the help and you being there. I've never had to deal with these sorts of things and I'd rather someone a little more familiar with megal things be there." Someone he sort of knew, or at least knew of. He knew Jett somewhat, from working here and being in the same court, but that was good enough for him. The court and the orphanage he'd grown up in were the only things he had - were his family. He'd made them all his family in some way and he'd made peace with it. He hadn't needed his actual blood family to turn up suddenly and turn things upside down on him, he'd given up hope of ever knowing them really. He could say now that he was glad he'd never met them before.
"I hope this won't have to go further than a restraining order...but with their mothers life on the line who knows. People do crazy things I've heard." And sp far they'd proven that accurate. He hoped they wouldn't take it further but they were the sort who'd likely never heard no, or been unable to get something they'd wanted. They didn't know how to do without for certain.
"I'll let you and Rhona handle them if they take things further than a restraining order. She'll want in on it as well." She was protective and he knew it, she'd be upset if she didn't get to help. He just hoped it didn't get that far though, that would mean how much more stress for himself and others.
"Thanks...for the help, for being here to see this."
