Quote: SERMAL (pl. Sermals) - Predatory in nature, these feline-descendant aminals are large and limber, living among Sauti’s mountains. Their sleek fur is interrupted by jagged protrusions from their bodies. They hunt with long fangs that can tear into flesh and a reinforced cranium used to head-butt for blunt trauma. Their usual diet consists of the sailscales that inhabit the mountains with them. [ Wangui 1 ] Wangui was scouting the area while her sister was exploring the village, something she preferred to do. She was social in nature, but preferred to do it behind closed doors. Being gawked at day-in-and-day-out was becoming so tiresome. And so, Wangui offered to explore the area and make sure that they had a great idea of how the lands around them operated. It really was just an excuse to get out and practice a bit while learning about the land. As Sauit was a bit more mountainous, even when it began to flow into Tale, the trek was challenging. Wangui enjoyed the light sweat that dotted her skin as she climbed and crossed the area.

Heike 1 Skirting around villages and towns, Heike was enjoying her time out in the wilderness. She always did, from as long as she could remember. Spending her days foraging or hunting made her feel like a productive person to her Sisters. Nowadays it also doubled to distract her mind from her thoughts, things she wasn't yet ready to deal with. Pocketing a nut she had just collected into her backpack, the Elidae slipped it over her shoulders and rose to her feet. She had been still for a while on the ground, hidden behind a trunk, when she heard footsteps approaching. Instantly, she became wary, thinking it some roaming Earthling getting too close. Back to the tree, she peered around cautiously. Green eyes went wide. Not an Earthling. Someone else very far from home. Where was that tree, too? She couldn't remember, but she knew it wasn't on this large landmass. Shoulders relaxing, Heike came out from behind the tree, making herself clearly visible. She didn't say anything, but tried on a smile and raised her hand, trying to show a bit of friendliness as best as her awkwardness could.

[ Wangui 2 ] As she moved, Wangui casually worked with her spear, warming up her muscles and focusing on her balance. The land was different, and she found herself needing to think a bit more so she wouldn't trip up. That didn't stop her antennae from picking up movement, and she paused in her movements to turn and look over with a casual expression. Upon catching sight of the teal haired girl before her, Wangui's eyes narrowed before a smirk slowly spread across her lips. "Hello there." She casually purred, her flirtatious nature shining a bit as she pushed the end of her spear into the ground. Leaning lightly against it, she took a long moment to study Heike, "Not from around here, are you?"

Heike 2 Blinking a few times at the odd affliction in the other Aishan's voice, Heike shrugged her bag further up her shoulder, shrugging it off. Some just spoke differently. She regarded the other woman curiously, wondering what would have taken her so far from home. Not that she would ask. That was far too forward, more something Doesina would have done. Along with smother everyone in her constant questions. "Neither are you, am I right?" the Elidae answered, glancing swiftly at her green skin and hair, her own skin seeming so much paler by comparison.

[ Wangui 3 ] " Indeed." Wangui replied easily, " My sister and I are making a pilgramage to Aisha." It was something many of the elders spoke about in her tribe, but the Vandrea never really bothered. They had their own tree to pray to, so many were content to stay close to home. It was only the wayward daughters, the ones who had Alkidike parents, who tended to explore the world. Yet, more of the Vandrea were finding time to go out and see what was before them. The opportunity to learn beyond their roots, so to speak. Wangui eyed Heike again, curious if that was what this one was doing. Strange coloring, something she was unfamiliar with but had heard about in stories. The sisterhood tended to keep in touch these days after all that had happened in their past. The power of peace. " You seem to be going in the opposite direction?"

Heike 3 Going in the opposite direction? Heike supposed it might look that way. In all honesty, she was just wandering around in a failed attempt to escape anything that reminded her of things she wanted to forget, which was difficult when those things were inside your own head. She actually had no interest in visiting Aisha. The Alkidike, yes. She wanted to talk to the ancestors of every Sister. "I see. Seems a lot have been doing that." What answer could she give that didn't expose too much of her secrets? "I'm...Just going in a direction, I guess. I was visiting the Alkidike for a bit. Not as far as Chibale."

[ Wangui 4 ] " Well you're welcome to join us on our trip if you fancy making it to the isle. Though just as easily you could head toward Belrea and make it to Chiume. It's a lovely place, though I admit I'm a bit biased." She finished with a cheeky smile, but her face suddenly stilled as her antennae twitched. Something was coming. Something was stalking them. Something wasn't right. Moving slowly, she gripped her spear before spinning it slowly until it was in a proper hold, her amber eyes glancing about in the distance as her antennae twitched once more. Suddenly a flock of sailscales screeched in the distance, flying away in a hurry, and Wangui hissed. " You wouldn't have happened to see any predators on your way out here?" She asked, her humor and flirting gone as she focused instead on the potential threat.

Heike 4 Once more, she was at a loss for words. Did anyone else have these sort of issues that she seemed to? Even with her own, she struggled to speak. Struggled to speak her mind. It was one of the few times she wished her cousin was here. Doesina could easily take all the attention off Heike and control the conversation single-handedly. Thankfully, something happened to take the pressure off her. She hadn't noticed it at first, so focused on what to say was she. But eventually the presence became known and she turned her head from one side to the other, as if she expected it to jump out at her right than and there. Her own spear was out just before the Sailscales erupted into the air, point aimed at the ground as her fingers closed tightly over it. "No. It had been quiet up until now."

[ Wangui 5 ] Quiet. Often times it being overly quiet was not a good thing. Wangui scanned the area a moment, realizing that many of the small critters seemed to have hidden away. She cursed again, well aware that when a predator was near by, the prey were the first ones to let you know. Wracking her brain with what little knowledge she had of the area, she glanced once more to note Heike had grabbed her own spear before something burst from the brush nearby. She had but a moment to react, eyes widening at the mass of fur and spikes and sharp fangs. Rolling to the side, she felt her calf get caught by something sharp, and she landed on one knee with a grimace. That would be a surefire reminder that she needed to pay more attention instead of flirt with pretty strangers. Hesperia would be quite cross when she returned. Shifting to keep her spike pointed forward, her body tight and steady, she watched as the creature spun around with a loud hiss, eyes bright and staring at the two Aishans before it. " Do not break eyecontact." She quickly warned, realizing the creature was one that was opportunistic and would likely strike if it felt the attention was diverted. She wasn't confident this was a fight they could easily win, but there were two warriors here, and only one mad kitty cat.

Heike 5 Heike watched with slightly narrowed eyes as the beast made itself visible, the like of which she had never seen before. She had not spent much time in the area. Passing through quickly, intend on her real destination in a different type of forest. Spear held tightly in her grip, the Elidae circled slowly, keeping a safe distance from the creature while she judged its actions. Don't break eye contact? No problems with that. Home had its own dangers and she'd spent too much of her youth stalking things in the wilds to not have learned a thing or two about approaching a predator. Don't run and don't lose sight of it. Unfortunately, she didn't know how exactly to deal with this one. Those teeth looked sharp and she was sure it wouldn't hesitate to grab at her if she made a wrong move towards it too quickly. Keeping the other woman in her sights, out of the corner of her eye, Heike kept moving so the creature was between the two of them, so it was forced to always keep its back to one of them. As soon as it looked over its shoulder at her companion, turning its body around, she charged forward, spear point aimed for a spot on its neck. An ear turned towards her and it swiped out at her, catching her spear in its claws. She jammed the butt end towards it, making it release her weapon so she could dodge backwards out of range of a pounce.

[ Wangui 6 ] As the cat began it's attack on Heike, Wangui smirked. This girl was skilled, and she would enjoy this hunt. Maybe they'd walk away with a trophy for their troubles. Ignoring the burn in her calf, she felt her muscles tighten before exploding out in a rush of energy. She launched herself at the Sermal, slamming her spear tip into the creature with a satisfying rush. The animal slammed to the ground, and Wangui made quick work of things to ensure the feline wouldn't suffer. Letting out a panting breath, she glanced over toward Heiki, "You good?"

Heike 6 Just as quickly as it had begun, the fight was over. Heike wished there was more she could have contributed to the victory, but she clearly wasn't as familiar with the animals of this area as this other Aishan was. She had never seen a creature like this before and thus had no idea of its abilities or power. She edged closer to it, crouching down and using the butt end of her spear to push back the upper lip for a better look at those teeth. She wondered if bringing back the pelts of different animals from her time in Jauhar would help with her nervousness about returning back to her own Tree Sisters. "I am fine," she answered absently, now studying the back of the feline. It was impressive how much variety the world had. She was just reaching out to touch one of those sharp points when she remembered she wasn't exactly alone, nor had delivered the killing blow. She looked to the Vandrea, giving a simple nod, never one to show a large amount of emotion over anything. "Are you? Looked like you took quite a hit."

[ Wangui 7 ] Moving to rest down once she felt sure there wouldn't be any others, Wangui examined the damage to her calf. It looked worse that it probably was. Moving to rip part of her clothing, she quickly tied it up to prevent any more bleeding. " Worried about me?" she teased in response, " No worries, I've been hit harder. Might leave a scar though..." She contemplated after a long moment, before moving to stand and testing her stability. A little soar, but already easily able to be pushed to the back of her mind. Instead, she turned back to the Elidae in front of her. " Wouldn't have been able to do this so cleanly without you. My name is Wangui, by the way. Probably should have started off with an introduction." It was a shame that the Aishan was going in the opposite direction, she might have wanted to spend more time getting to know her. But at least she had someone she might be able to connect to if she ever decided to visit the sisterhood to the south. A strong fighter like her was worth keeping up acquaintances with.

Heike 7 The Elidae continued to crouch near to the body, examining the strange creature that it was. A formidable opponent it must have been, with those teeth and spikes on its body. Just proved to her she shouldn't be blindly wandering around in the wilderness. But than what else was she to do? Go into an Earthling settlement and buy a book about the local flora and fauna? Not a chance. She'd rather face an unknown predator than even speak to someone not a fellow Sister. She had confidence in her abilities to be able to handle herself. Though maybe that was more foolish pride than confidence most days. Had she been alone today, she might not have lived to tell the tale. She glanced back over at the Vandrea, eyes slightly wide. "We're supposed to help each other, aren't we?" she answered matter-of-factly, standing up and stretching her arms above her head, leaning her spear against her body. "You still made quick work of it. Very impressive hunting. I am Heike." Now that all danger had been dealt with, Heike returned the spear to its holder on her backpack, on the opposite side to her bow. "So what should we do with the carcass? Split it up?"

[ Wangui 8 ] The carcass would be worth taking and using on the road. Hunting was always a rewarding endeavor, even if the meal was a little different than she was used to. Pulling out a knife, she nodded once at the offer, " Of course, equal share. Any preference for the pelt, claws, or teeth?" Wangui preferred to use all of the resources given, and it was such a shame to leave a beautiful pelt. Plus the teeth and claws would be easily tradeable. Many enjoyed their decorations, even if she wasn't one of them. Of course, Wangui had her own in the form of the soon-to-be scarred marks. Nothing to be ashamed about, being a huntress and all that. " Beautiful creature, when it's not trying to kill you."
