Another year, another season. Briallen sighed quietly as she sliced through some foliage, the Aishan using a sickle with expertise as she worked alongside others who were gathering some of the bright orange and yellow fruits that only grew during this particular rainy season. It was a plentiful time and while other sisters were away hunting, the rest were helping to gather fruits and other necessities like fibers and the like that were flourishing at the moment throughout Jahaur. The fibers and vines would be twisted and woven into baskets and other crafted items that could be used to store some of the fruits or even be traded with earthlings at the market while others could use them for medical purposes or even to help string some arrows depending on their preferences. Briallen enjoyed helping with the harvest so that she could take some flasks of her favorite wines that were brewed during the rainy season when the berries and fruits could ferment quickly, but other than that she felt a bit quiet this season. It was strange knowing that her family was doing something similar overseas and she was for once helping out with this alone, a rare moment when she had opted to visit Chibale instead of going to Chiume since she had been closer to this particular area while exploring the world. Belrean harvests were different, just as enjoyable though it was much chillier and not always as damp as the jungles were during this time of year. Shaking her head, Briallen decided it was best to simply focus as she placed a full bag of fruits near an elder. “Another empty bag for me, Jinyle.” She stated as she reached for an empty canvas to fill. “I’ll be back soon.”

Did he really have to help with all of this? Cathán rolled his eyes slightly even though he knew it was for the best if he did at least do a few things to help out. Otherwise he probably wouldn’t be allowed to join in with tonight’s festivities and while Cat was fond of fighting and such, food was just as appealing. It was just kind of boring when he didn’t have his brother around to compete with. A sigh left his lips the same time he heard a faint sigh from someone around the other side of the tree and Cat found himself intrigued. Had he just heard an echo or was there someone else? Swinging his bag around his shoulder, Cat found himself watching an Aishan warrior finish filling up a bag. As she went to drop it off her tagged along behind her, swapping out his own for a new empty bag as well. At the time he hadn’t thought about why he decided to follow, but when they both took the same path towards more trees full of fruit the boy found himself reaching out. “Hey. If it’s too boring, why not make a game out of it?” He asked the other Aishan with a cheeky grin.

“Excuse me?” Briallen had at first thought that the boy was simply tagging along after her because the area of trees was perfect for gathering, but then he was speaking to her. So did he follow on purpose? Tilting her head with curiosity, Briallen simply frowned before giving a slight shrug. “I’m simply gathering fruits for tonight, what type of game are you even considering?” For some reason she almost felt like entertaining him, if not to simply keep her mind away from her own family and how much she was missing them lately.

“So am I.” Cat grinned at the Alkidike, encouraged since she actually was speaking with him instead of simply walking away. “I was considering seeing how many fruits could be gathered within a short period of time.” He shifted so that he could show off his blades. “Maybe using weapons only? Like a more stylish type of gathering.”

Briallen let out a chuckle of amusement. “So you want to take turns stabbing fruit from the trees and whoever is more stylish gets a point? Truly?” Well, it wasn’t as if she couldn’t do it especially considering she preferred a whip and daggers instead of more traditional Aishan weapons. Those were both really good stylish weapons, especially when she did a twist before throwing the daggers…

“Yeah.” Cathán’s expression brightened as the Alkidike went along with it. “It keeps things interesting. We have to help with the harvest so why not have some fun with it?” He spun his blades, the hybrid trying to look cool as he glanced at the Alkidike. “Should we begin with an introduction first?”

“Pfft, I suppose that’s one way to keep things going.” Briallen had been content to sulk about while gathering fruits, but the teen was definitely more energetic and had a spark of fun to him that she was missing. “I’m guessing you don’t mean an introduction round, right? You want my name?” She raised a playful brow as if considering it before finally nodding. “Briallen.”

“Briallen.” Cathán chuckled. “You can just call me Cat. Funny enough I don’t think I’ve ever really seen you around here by the way.” He started as he continued along looking for the perfect tree with fruits for them to target. “I’ve been here most of my life as well minus when we travel to visit family in Belrea and Yael.”

Briallen glanced over at Cat, her expression shifting at his commentary. “My family mostly lives in Chiume now. I haven’t lived in Chibale since my teen years.” Not that she was that much older than him, but he would have been a youngling when she last lived here for more than a couple of months at a time. Either way that wasn’t something she wanted to focus on at the moment. “What about that tree there?” Briallen gestured towards a wider fruit tree, the ancient thing one of the biggest trees in the area with its wide branches full of the orange and yellow fruits.

“Hmm.” Cat made a face but shook his head. If her family wanted to live in Chiume then that was fine. His family had opted to live in Jahaur more than Belrea, after all. Everyone had their own preferences even if it didn’t always make sense to him. At least she had pointed out a good tree, his expression brightening at the sight of it. “That works.” He held up his dual blades playfully. “Want first try or should I go first?”

“Feel free to go ahead.” Briallen grinned at the younger hybrid. “It’s your idea so I am curious to see how it plays out.” She just hoped he didn’t end up hurting himself. Briallen had a basic gist of first aid but was far from an experienced healer. So it would be a very stressful situation if he accidentally injured himself trying to look cool.

“Alright then.” Cathán grinned with excitement before taking his blades and stance. The hybrid closed his eyes for a moment, gathering his thoughts and everything, then opened his pale blue gaze quickly to catch sight of a branch full of the fruits. Focusing on that, Cat took a step backwards before propelling himself forward, twisting in midair and slicing at the branch so that several fruits rained down around them all at once.

Briallen actually felt pretty impressed by the other Aishan’s attack. “Not bad, not bad.” She replied with a smirk towards him, even giving a soft clap as the fruits rained around them. “Now let’s just add to the pile and pick them all up together.” As she spoke she brought out her whip, energy sparking from her fingertips as she twisted around with a flourish so that the whip smacked right into another branch causing another group of fruits to fall down around them. Perhaps they hadn’t thought about how perfect the fruits would be, the fall potentially bruising a couple of them, but at least Briallen was having more fun now that they had somehow turned this into a game or even a training exercise.

Cathán let out a laugh. “Nice!” He cheered on the Alkidike as more fruits rained around them, honestly impressed as well with her method of attack. Who knew a whip could look so cool? He was so accustomed to just seeing the more traditional weapons that something like actually surprised him. It was pretty awesome though and Cat was eager to see what other attacks Briallen would show him while they played around and gathered fruits for the harvest. Definitely worth it! Even if he got chastised for a few spoiled fruits, who cared? It was so much better to have fun with this instead of simply gathering fruits like everyone else.
