Rest in Peace (4) : While making your way through Destiny City, you wind up taking a path you’ve never taken before. Maybe you’re following directions, maybe you got lost, maybe you were just looking for a shortcut—things were going well, until you wind up needing to pass through a graveyard. It seems normal enough—until you pass by a grave and get a powerful chill down your spine. When you stop and look at it, you see the gravestone has your name; beneath it, your birthday and today’s date. If you leave and return, the gravestone remains, but the name and dates look like they’ve been clawed off.Dani ran to meet Rini at her parents' hotel. She was excited for school today. She was excited every day these days. This was her last year at Knightside Elementary School. Next year, she would be going to Meadowview. Not only that, but Halloween was coming up, and so was Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. Next year also, she would turn 14, and that would change so many things, especially with her other ego... and that soured her mood - which it did a lot lately. She frowned deeply and slowed down as she walked into the Hotel where Rini lived. "Hey... is Rini ready for school?"

Sabrina quickly woke up from her slumber and realized she needed to get ready to meet Dani and quickly. She could be here any minute and she was so excited to be able to walk to school with her today. She quickly threw on her school clothes and then placed her bat backpack on her back, petted her cute fluffy kitty, and raced down the stairs. Since she couldn't keep her best friend waiting - which she hopefully hadn't done.
Just as she descended the stairs she noticed Dani talking to her dad. She quickly gave a wave as she hit the bottom floor. "Hey Dani! Sorry, it took me a bit to get ready. and hey dad I'm headed out now. Can you please make sure the cute kitty gets breakfast? Thanks!" She noticed her dad nod a yes as he helped the next guest. Smiling she said, "Hope I didn't keep you long. I woke up a little late!"

Dani shook her head, but for once she didn't smile, and as they walked, she didn't speak. There definitely had been something hanging over her since the trip to her Homeworld. However, she was so deep in thought, that she took a right turn, when she should have taken a left turn. Short cut in order?

Sabrina knew something was wrong, Dani was never this quiet. Actually, they normally had wonderful conversations together. They couldn't stop talking whenever they walked together. She was starting to get worried for her friend and tried to think of something she might be able to do or say as they walked.
She just continued to follow her lost in thought, "Hey Dani are you okay?" she said in a concerned voice. Not even noticing that their path was beginning to darken and the fog was slowly gathering around their feet ever so slightly. Her concern was so strong everything around her didn't even matter.

Dani shook her head and sighed, "I'm sorry, Rini. I just haven't been feeling well lately." But she didn't say what was bothering her. Instead, she put on a grin, and looked brighter than the environment around her. "Hey guess what Rini? Dell and Den, my younger twin brothers turn 2 next month!" Dani frowned as she just realized that they were not where they were supposed to be. "Uh, Rini? Where are we?" The Mist cleared just enough to reveal a creepy old graveyard.

Sabrina listened to her friend but she wasn't buying it, something was wrong more than not feeling well. But she decided that she would wait to press her further. She didn't want to close her off from her by pushing too hard. That's what she read in books about what can happen if you press too much anyways and she didn't want to do that to her friend.
"That's awesome Dani! You'll have to let me know what they'd like since I'd love to get them some gifts," she said happily as she paused with Dani's frown.
She then looked around, "uh I have no idea. We must have taken a wrong turn somewhere." where they were she had no idea since she was so worried about Dani. That she hadn't paid any attention to their course and just followed her followed blindly.
As she looked at the old graveyard surrounding them, she felt a chill rush down her spine. Something definitely wasn't right here, but then she saw what looked to be gravestones.
"Hey maybe those gravestones can give us an idea of where we might be," she said to her friend hoping maybe they could give them some kind of clues.

As the graveyard came into view, Dani got goosebumps. They shouldn't be here. No one should be here. The graveyard shouldn't here. Dani nodded at Rini's idea. She started checking the gravestones one by one, and then froze, and went back to the last one and reread it. "Rini? What's your birthday, including the year?" There was muted terror in her voice.

Rini quickly looked at the graveyard next to the one Dani was inspecting. It had her best friend's name there and the date of something.
"October 31, and honestly I don't know the year I never really asked my parents," she said as something in her head started to hurt. It was like a pain where she felt something off like it wanted to remind her of a certain memory but it was fuzzy like static. She tried to shake it off but it took a second and then she smiled. she looked at the headstone in front of her and understood why her friend said that.
"Well Dani I hate to say it but I think I just found your headstone. She said re-reading the headstone again," she tried to walk around the stone and examine it from all angles. Since there was no way a live person could have a headstone meant for the dead.

Dani frowned herself. "Well, this one's yours...." She frowned for the moment then said, "I thought we fixed the future...." After all the trouble they went through as well...

Rini shook her head, she refused to believe all the hard work they went through was in vain. The future had changed and she was not going to let this happen. After all that work and saving their future selves from the shadows, she was not accepting anything but they lived a long amazing life at this point. She just wasn't.
"nope, nope. Not gonna happen," she said as she walked over towards Dani and grabbed her hand. "We're leaving, this place is clearly a trick by someone maybe even the chaos." She said as she headed back through the fog in the direction they had come. or at least thought they had come from anyways.

Dani had to hide her smile as she was dragged off. Her bestie sure was determined! The fog rolled in again and then suddenly it was gone, and the school bell was ringing. They were at Knightside Elementary - and the End of Day Bell WAS RINGING! They had somehow missed an entire day of school! Dani frowned and pulled Rini back. "I think it's time to go home now." Too late. Their principal had seen them, and now she was making her way over, and she looked TICKED.

Rini heard the bell and saw the principal. There was no way after what they just went through she was letting her best friend get in trouble. Plus she knew Dani hadn't been feeling well. So she decided it was her turn to take the fall. After all, Dani didn't need anything to worry about. So as soon as she got in front of them.
"Hey! So Dani here was just helping me. I got lost on the way to school and she had to help me find my way. Somehow I ended up in a cemetery if you can believe it or not," she said with shock before continuing, "and if it hadn't been for her I never would have been able to find my way back. She's like a hero."
She watched as the principal looked a little skeptical and still obviously mad but just waved them off saying she'd talk to Rini tomorrow and be careful this time going home. "yes ma'am! Thank you!"
As soon as the principal was out of sight Rini looked at her friend, "sorry we missed school Dani, but if you'd like you are welcome to come over to my house and hang out."
