Strays (1) : Destiny City News reports several sightings of ‘feral dogs' appearing throughout the city. Those interviewed claim that the dogs would surround them and chase them down the streets, seemingly popping in and out of sight until the person finally found themselves in a well lit area. You have the misfortune of running into these same dogs.
They cling to the shadows as you go about your way at night. Seemingly at the corner of your vision, one flickers by, and you turn and see nothing. Again and again it happens. They are trying to drive you into the darkest corners of the city, herding you away from the light. In the nearby distance are the lights of the city: streetlights, signs, traffic. You have to do something to get there, to escape these creatures. When you make it to any significant light source, you hear a low growl, a wailing hiss; the dogs have vanished.
For now...Dreama had spent a little while at the home of the Guardian Cat Bernard, as her wounds. Now she was ready to get out and look again for her cousins, doncha know? It was somewhat late in the day, as she had lost her way several times - and was indeed lost now. She was seated at an outside table of an Bistro, trying to read a map, and the shadows were growing long - and then one growled at her... "What's this magick? Surely, I be seeing faeries." One of the frightened waiters spoke as he backed away. "Those aren't the usually monsters that frighten DC. It's Destiny City's Holiday Magical Curse!" Dreama's eyes went wide, as she stood, backing away. The lights started going out one, by one, the pack of wild shadow dog aggressively advancing on them. "You meant to say," Dreama said in a horrified voice, "-that the Magic of O'Hallow's Eve is real?" She got out the phone that her friend, the Guardian Cat had given her, "Uh, Bernard, come in please..."

Bernard had been lounging around watching a Halloween mystery show on tv and slowly stuffing his face with a meat and cheese tray that he had absconded with from the kitchen when the message came in on his communicator. He had hopped up, nearly cracking his back, and scrambled to get out of the open window. After a moment or two of trying he eventually made his way out and ran to where Dreama was as fast as he could. The darkened lights were strange and he couldn't help but wonder what was going on until he saw what looked to be... dogs? But they weren't were they? While he could see in the dark, they did not appear to be showing any lights themselves. He shout out a kitty beam at the group which caused them to snarl and scatter for a moment, leaving him with enough time to get to Dreama. "I would suggest we find a more well-lit area." He said while gasping for breath. He hadn't run like that for years. And it looked like he would have to do more as the dogs once again gathered and started towards the both of them. "Now."

Dreama was running beside Bernard, "What about the City Center, or ah Square?" She thought for a moment, which was really difficult because, one of the 'dogs' launched itself at her and tried to latch its teeth into her leg - but she gave it a good thwack- or at least a swing and a miss and it jumped back. "Bernard, would ah, my transforming help?"

Bernard was attempting to ignore the pain that he was feeling in his legs and lungs as he ran like he hadn't in a long time! "Where... huff ever lights are! And yes! It would very much help! You'll gasp need the healing from it in case you are hurt!" He said as he only just managed to escape being bitten on the tail by one of the "dogs". He tried to think about which one would be better, closer... "Yes the Square! Let's head there!" He said as he attempted to draw in a few more breaths even if his lungs were heavily protesting the activity that he was participating in at the moment.

Dreama ducked behind a building outcrop. "Terpsichore Power Makeup!" She instantly transformed and the brief light scattered the shadow dogs that had followed her for just long enough for her to catch up with Bernard who seemed to about have a breathing fit. "Bernard, you're not going make it at this rate. I apologize, but with my enhanced strength, I know of only one thing that can save you, my friend!" With that, she bent over and picked up the far-out-of-shape and sadly did not have the time to carry him like a friend, but only like a sack of potatoes. Soon the light started peaking ahead of them.

Bernard didn't mind being picked up, but with his girth it took a bit to get in the right position so that he wasn't too squished. He looked behind the Senshi at the dogs and saw that they were still right on their heels. "They're still very close Terpischore! Continue to head toward the light!" He said as he let loose a beam. It appeared to slow the dogs down only a little so that they could dodge it, but they were soon back and snapping at them again. Bernard couldn't help but let out a hiss.

Terpsichore saw the City Square about 3 blocks ahead. "Bernard, do you mind if I kick it into Senshi High Gear? I think I can get there in spurt - but I don't know that would affect you?" Terpsichore knew now Bernard a true friend - her only friend in America right now - what would she do without him? She did not want to do anything to harm him.

"What- whatever you need to do Miss!" He said, his reply only being interrupted as another one of the dogs leapt at them. He sent out another kitty beam at them but it didn't seem to do much. "I'm in your hands Miss Terpischore!"

Terpsichore might have giggled in another situation - why was Bernard so formal? She was (should she even think it) or at least it seemed that she was younger than he - she shook her head - Focus, Terpsichore! She burst into a Sailor Spurt or whatever it was called and with in minutes she arrived in the City Square. The light put out the shadow dogs after they growled and whined a bit. As much as Terpsichore wanted to hold and pet Bernard like the true friend he was, she knew, that this was probably not the best time. She gently set him down on the grass, saying, "There, there, Sir-ee, are you alright?"

Bernard let out a sigh of relief as the shadowy dogs faded away and he was put on the solid ground. As much as he preferred being carried versus running himself, he was glad that they were no longer in danger, for the moment anyway. "Yes, I am fine. Are you all right Miss? I know that was scary and I certainly wish I knew what they were, but we seem to be fine with the light." He took a look at the area around them, glad to see that there were lights they could both follow home. "I can walk you back if need be, it seems that the lights are coming back on at least. We should be rid of those strange things until tomorrow morning. I just hope they don't come back." He said with a small shiver of fear. He really didn't want to have to deal with them again.

Terpsichore nodded shakily. "I be alright, Bernard my friend, and I'm glad there is light." She inhaled a few times to regain her breathing. She looked down at her friend, who also looked shaken. "Bernard, you may walk me home tonight, good Sir. And would you mind staying the night, also? I can make a bed for you. And I can call your home and tell those you live with what happened?" She pretended to shake harder than she actually was. The truth was, she thought both of them needed the support tonight. And she thought that he might not accept if he didn't think she needed it enough.

He nodded, his fur stache curling. "Of course. My family won't mind if I'm missing for the night so no calls shall be needed." He took a look around, checking the area to see if there were any more of those shadowy dogs. There didn't appear to be and he let out a breath that he had been holding. "All right Miss Terpsichore, which direction is your home?" Sailor Hawk ending post from me, thank you for the rp!
