Born 2070, Rosita was the result of two worlds that do not mesh. Her father, a corporate rat, Kanaki Kusanagi. Her mother, Carla Esposito, a netrunner for the Voodoo Boys. Despite their brief entanglement and Kusanagi's harsh departure from Carla's life. Rosita's existence proved to be a testament to the woman's mistake. Growing up, Rosita was treated as such by most of those outside of her family. Treated as one of the family by her older brothers, and her mother. Everyone else involved with the Voodoo Boys only called her by the last name Kusanagi. While she was physically safe from the gang, she still came from corpo stock, and was tainted for it.
Though she did not quite understand it when she was young, as she grew older Rosita would gradually understand how ostracized she really was from the Voodoo Boys. Losing her mother at the age of seven, during what was supposed to be one of the greatest achievements of the Voodoo Boys. Her older brothers took over the job of raising the young hellion. With a gifted intelligence, determination that could topple governments, and what seemed like little control over her temper. Rosita proved to be one of the greatest challenges her brother's faced.
Growing up, Rosita was fairly free range. Often finding trouble with her closest friend, Ryu. Both grew up in Pacifica, and had similar interests, and talents. What at first started as friendly competition and companionship over time turned into an almost unhealthy rivalry, and romance. Often arguing, breaking up, and being back together the following week, if not day. Volatile though they may have been towards each other, whenever Night City seemed to find something to throw at them, all that volatility and energy was redirected immediately towards their new problems.
From a young age, Rosita took to Jenko, the second oldest of her brothers. A netrunner through and through, the man was a moving mad when it came to the net. Though Rosita often would argue that she had a better way of doing something, or a cooler idea. Between her mother's notes, and Jenko's training, they provided the base of everything that Rosita would come to know about her profession. Yet as she approached her twenties, and found herself butting heads with Jenko more and more, Rosita found herself starting down a different path. A phase of her life that she dubs the rocker era. Joining up with a young woman, Rin, who idealized Rosita's oldest brother and his band. For a period of time shred guitar for her own rebellious rocker crew. Though the band would fall apart after one member sold out to join a corpo sponsored pop idol group. Rosita kept close with Rin, and sometimes even brought her in on some of the jobs when Rosita started taking her new job seriously, edgerunning.
