1 - 5: Fire! A small fire has broken out at the local village. But what is on fire and who might be involved is up to you in your prompt response. Find a way to help keep it under control and get anyone out safely.

They had arrived on an island known as Elehun. Noelani found herself amazed by the little village known as Salicora to the locals where there were so many plants growing along the waters, many vibrant in colors that she never knew were possible for plants! She loved everything about the area and thankfully the locals were fairly friendly and even willing to trade with them once they docked and started wandering through the settlement of menehune. While Noelani had traded for some supplies with the others she had wanted to take the day to explore the local area for any rare treasures that could be valuable back home in Matori. They had stocked up on some rare herbs and even traded for glass trinkets, the stained glass so lovely that Noelani could not resist bartering for them with some Oban spices and pearls that she had brought from Matori, but Noelani’s biggest interest was simply in exploring the island and seeing what she could learn about the locals while on this adventure with Theriar.

However, when she woke up in the little inn room that they had rented for a couple of nights there was something strange in the air. It wasn’t the usual haze of the artisan’s creating their work but rather a thick and unpleasant smoke. “Oh no!” Noelani let out a gasp as she ran towards Theriar’s room to wake him up. “There’s a fire!” Should they help? Could they help? She coughed against the smoke, raising a cloth to cover her mouth as she pounded against the door to Theriar’s room. Was it the building next to them that was on fire or the other side of the inn? They had to move quickly if so!

Theriar started awake and promptly coughed, he sat up and unfolded himself in a groggy mess. He stumbled toward the door. "Noelani? Fire? Where?" Was all he could get out before the smoke invaded his lungs. This was where being tall was a very bad thing. He hunched over trying not to inhale the spicey fumes.

"You are okay?" Best to ascertain that first then they could get the heck out and see where they could help or at least be safe if the people had it under control.

He turned and ripped some bedsheets to make them both impromptu masks.

"Get out of the smoke as soon as possible, lungs are hard to fix." Then he took his own advice and crouched as low as he could while he left. Hopefully it wasn't their building that was on fire.

Noelani was thankful to see that Theriar was okay and quickly took the impromptu mask from her companion with a soft thanks. "I'm okay. I'm just worried about the locals. What if they need help?" She managed a flurry of words before having to catch herself, the smoke trying to invade her mouth despite the mask and causing Noelani to cough. She nodded at his advice, making certain that the mask was tied tightly around her face and that her hair was back before following Theriar towards the exit.

While she couldn't pinpoint the exact source of the fire just yet it looked like their floor of the inn was safe. Noelani let out a sigh of relief as the stairs were thankfully in one piece without any flames nearby. The exit was covered in smoke and Noelani had to take a moment to try and find her way through the lower level of the inn that was covered in heavier smoke. Maybe it was coming from the dining area? Had someone left a candle by something or maybe breakfast had caught fire? Either way the flames seemed really intense for a simple mistake! Noelani let out a choked gasp as they reached the side doorway which was being licked by flames. "May-maybe the other entrance." She managed despite the fear rising in her chest.

If there were others in the building then they could warn them to run the other way instead of trying for the side exit which was definitely not a good option now. Noelani straightened her shoulders to muster her confidence before a groaning noise sounded around them, her gaze widening as a beam from above that had been weakened by the fire started to swing towards her. Noelani froze in shock since she had never encountered such a dangerous situation before despite her bravado and simply raised her arms to try to block the beam since her feet seemed stuck to the ground.

Theriar leapt at Noelani as the beam was coming down, he managed to cover her with his own body as the beam grazed a shoulder, it hurt, but not as much as she would have been had she stayed where she was.

He used his good arm and wrapped it around her, carrying her tucked under it out of danger. "We might have to jump out a window at this point." He raced with her, eventually letting her stand again once they were away from the disintegrating parts. He hoped she wasn't offended but he would be damned if he just stood by at let such a sweet and beautiful soul get hurt on his watch. And as this was not his ship he felt no obligation to go down with it either.

The other door was mildly blocked by debris from others fleeing, how very unhelpful, he shoved it aside and slammed a shoulder against the door.

"Theriar!" Noelani gasped in both fear and surprise as Theriar blocked the beam that was coming down towards her. The hybrid shivered at the idea of being knocked down by the flaming beam and winced at the injury Theriar surely got from the beam because of her. Once they got out of this mess she would make certain that it was taken care of and bandage it for him and everything! "Are...are you okay?" She swallowed before finding herself being carried out of danger, the girl's heart jumping at the sudden movement as they raced away towards a safer location.

"Whatever works." Noelani agreed before they arrived at the other door which had some debris. While Theriar started slamming against the door, the hybrid was quickly looking around for anything that could help. Her gaze narrowed thoughtfully before she noticed a decorative figurine in the hallway. There was a metal spear tucked into the statue's hands, a kahi that was representing some sort of fisher or spirit, but either way Noelani didn't care about the actual representation and only wanted the spear. Thankfully the fire was still behind them on the other side of the building so Noelani could still grab the weapon. Even if it was decorative it was still heavy and sharp! "Theriar, move!" She cried out as he shoved against the door and whenever he backed away the hybrid relied upon her own Aishan inherited strength to slam the weapon into the already splintering wood. The wood completely snapped in half at the impact which would allow them to move through the opening for fresh air. Noelani quickly pushed Theriar through the opening so that they could both get away from the smoke, the hybrid coughing as she tried to get the smoke out of her lungs and take in the crisp fresh air since they were downwind of the fire.

Others were racing around outside, many trying to make certain everyone was out of the inn while the rest moved to get water to try to calm down the fire. Maybe once Noelani caught her breath and made certain Theriar was okay they could offer to help as well. She just hoped that their belongings would be okay since their rooms were on the upper level a bit away from the fire that still looked to be on the lower floor.

It hurt, but his back could take it, he wasn't sure if she would have been okay. "I will be alright, we need to go before it all comes down!"
His throat burned and he batted at where the beam had hit him.
He was definitely bruised, but so full of adrenaline he couldn't really feel it.

He emerged into the fresh breeze and gasped like a landed fish. Fresh air!

"That was an impressive move with the spear!" He helped her clear, moved to safe place and sighing, punctuated by a cough he couldn't control, he slumped into a relieved heap. He hurt.

"Maybe we should have slept on the boat."
He would need a healer from the way he felt.

"I think my shoulder is dislocated."

Noelani nodded. "Though they may be able to salvage the building." She glanced around thoughtfully and watched as several groups of Kahi worked to bring water and other materials towards the burning building. "I can try to help them with the water." She nodded at the thought before looking over Theriar. Before she did anything she wanted to make certain he was okay! Guilt crossed her expression before his compliment made her lips curve into a faint smile. It wasn't the best timing for a compliment considering their dangerous situation, but it was a good compliment all the same which made her happy despite her worry.

"I may have not been raised in the Aishan way but my family did teach me how to handle myself." She confirmed quietly. "I'm glad it came in handy." Even if she was not an official warrior she was still stronger than most, a courtesy of her years training as a swimmer and doing all of those various chores and training excercises while growing up in Matori. Sometimes it just got hidden under her quieter nature that made her a bit more reserved about her capabilities around others. Seeing Theriar injured because of her and being in danger because of the fire had pushed her to do her best to get them outside. Noelani let out a sigh of relief again as she waited for the fresh air to clear her lungs, the girl finally getting back more of her strength as she tried to avoid the smoke swirling downwind of them.

"Dislocated..." Her voice trailed off thoughtfully before Noelani straightened her shoulders with purpose and looked directly at Theriar. "I know basic medical training...do you trust me to try to fix it until we can find a healer or at least something to make a sling for it?" She looked at him. "It'll hurt but I should be able to move it back into proper position."

"It is best to get it back in as soon as possible from what I have heard. Especially for him as he used his arms so much in his job on the day to day. He didn't want this happening again. It was excruciating after the adrenaline started to drain away slowly.

"I do trust you, I don't sail away to far off lands with just anyone you know." He was more than grateful for her friendship. Not to mention her most excellent emergency skills.

"Go right ahead, probably be able to sling it after its in place to give the joint itself a break."

She had saved them and he would never ever forget it. "Thank you Noelani. I always thought the sea would get me one day but the thought of burning up like a large attractive candle was a daunting proposition there for a moment."

Noelani's cheeks flushed but she nodded in agreement as Theriar gave her permission to get his shoulder back into place. It was not a pleasant thing to do and she had only ever done it once before when her own father had torn his shoulder during a dive one day. Don't ever tell your mother about this. Her father had teased even though Noelani's stomach still twisted as she remembered the cracking sound and the pain that shot across her father's features when the deed had been done. "Fair enough." She replied with a soft chuckle despite her own nerves. She had to appear brave for Theriar's sake and it was true that it was best to get the shoulder back in as soon as possible. Everyone else was so distracted by helping with the fire that she worried it would be a bit before they could even find a healer....

"Hold your thanks for after this." Noelani joked lightly before moving behind Theriar. "Just brace yourself." She warned before quickly tugging his arm forward and straight, the motion making a popping noise as she pulled the shoulder back into place. Noelani ripped part of the half skirt that had been hanging over her leggings, the teal material tearing but sturdy enough to work as a temporary sling for Theriar's injured arm. The hybrid tied a knot before glancing at her companion with a slight flush. "I'm really sorry about that..." She began hesitantly. "Hopefully that will hold. I should be thanking you since you're the one that saved me from being squished like a bug back there. The squished bug definitely would not be the same as a large attractive candle lighting up the place." She tucked a stray curl behind an ear, the hybrid shifting on a foot before glancing away as sudden shyness caused her cheeks to darken more. Talk about a crazy situation. Once again it felt like she owed Theriar so much, especially when he had already helped her out by going on this adventure with her.

"I'll uh...go grab a bucket of water to try to help out!" Noelani finally managed with a quick wave, her feet quickly carrying her into the crowd for the moment as she worked to help bring water to fire. Thankfully it looked like everyone's efforts were working and the inn would be saved, the fire was already dying down and barely anything fierce like it had been earlier.

Theriar 5

He was used to pain, a fisherman went through quite a bit in the course of a day, a week, a year. Though having one's shoulder snapped back into place was never a cup of tea. She was efficient though, thank the gods.

"Thank you." he said once it was back in place, he was grateful for the use of her skirt as a sling too. He felt bad when he couldn't do too much, he really shouldn't use that arm. But the place was still on fire.

"I'll join in you in a minute. With the none injured arm, I'm sure I can manage something." For now he was resting. It was a hell of a day he must say. He was just glad they were both okay. Noelani was adventurer material alright. He was very grateful for her friendship. He thought of Onora and what she would have done if he hadn't returned. He shook his head, best not to think of these things.

"No worries." Noelani smiled at Theriar. "You did plenty enough." If he hadn't jumped in the way then she would have been squished! They also had helped to open up an exit for anyone still trapped inside and Noelani was thankful to see others emerging from the smoke. It looked like the fire was dying down and she tossed a few buckets of water onto the remaining fire, the hybrid reaching up to wipe a few beads of sweat from her brow before returning to toss another bucket of water onto the fire and finally returning toward Theriar.

"Well, if anything at least we know that every day has something exciting for us." She commented with a soft chuckle. "I think though I'll be more inclined to stay on the ship even if it means we have to walk a bit to get back into town the next day." Noelani's gaze was thoughtful as she glanced back towards the inn. The building was still standing besides the charred first floor and there was a lot of smoke still rolling across the street but thankfully it looked like the fire was finally out now that enough hands had gathered to toss water onto the flames.

"How is your shoulder? Should we try to find a healer before anything else?" Noelani studied Theriar with concern, guilt still obvious as she chewed at her bottom lip. She felt horrible that he had been injured because of her. What if something worse had happened? Her stomach twisted at the very thought!

He was still not quite mobile, but it looked like the disaster was on the way out so that was good. He was exhausted thoroughly and sore, probably needed some herbs for the wrenched shoulder which still felt much better after Noe had put it in for him.

"That is for sure! I'm very impressed with how well you are handling all of this drama. I do prefer the new island surprises to this though, fire is decidedly not my element of choice."

"I concur, not that ship isn't also flammable but I'm pretty good at not setting it on fire. I no longer care if the bed is rocking we can bring back some supplies in case the weather keeps us on the boat."

"That might be a good thing, it is still kina sore."

A light flush decorated Noelani's cheeks at the compliment. "Well, I think it helps that I was taught to try my best to remain calm since deep diving could be dangerous if you panic. I also feel more comfortable going forward since I know I have a good partner to back me up." She added with all honesty before glancing away again, her cheeks flushed at the admission. It was still strange to have a companion but Noelani was thankful for Theriar's company and aid so far. A year ago she would have never expected to have made it so far out into the world like this but now she was all the way in Kahi. It was crazy how life was swiftly changing and Noelani was excited to see what other adventures would come along.

Noelani chuckled at Theriar's observations. "I definitely think a fire is not my favorite adventure either. Let's hope for more favorable surprises going forward. I think once we get you to a healer I'll come back to recover what I can of our belongings." Then they could head back to the ship for the night and take it from there. Rocking ship or not she definitely was more comfortable in a familiar place, especially since they were both more confident that the ship would not be catching on fire like the inn had.

"I think there's a healer over that way." She had noticed someone with what looked like a small area set up, medical herbs and bandages catching her attention as a petite hapuna worked with others who had been injured during the chaos of the fire. Noelani smiled one last time at Theriar before gesturing for him to follow her so that the healer could tend to his wounds. Noelani was personally eager to take care of any business here, get their supplies and then return. What a day indeed. She would definitely sleep well tonight whenever they returned to the ship.

"That makes a lot of sense!" He hadn't thought about that. Nothing like the threat of drowning to make you get your ducks in a row.

"After this it may be some time before I can fall asleep in an Inn. I may have food in one but I think I'll sleep outside for the next 5 years just in case. Also the nightmares might come after such a traumatic near death experience.

"Sounds good, I'll meet you back at the market when I am done for supplies. I think we earned ourselves a few lazy days after this, not that I can do much with this arm for a while anyway. Boardgames on ship sound good? Maybe some fishing?"
