A Local Disaster
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
Things may be peaceful in Tendaji these days, but that doesn't mean that trouble doesn't suddenly appear out of nowhere. In fact, you just happen to stumble upon trouble and must figure out the best way to step in and help (or not, if you're more of the troublemaker type).
[ This is a roll and react event. So roll the dice and react to the prompt below depending on your number. If you're RPing with more than one person, have one person roll and all players react. ]
16 - 20: Earthquake Tendaji doesn't get too many earthquakes, so it's surprising when the ground begins to shake. Not terrible enough to split the ground, this quake was still strong enough to shake up the community and cause some problems. Explore the damage and see if you can find any way to help out the community.

[Yonas 1]
Shaking wasn't anything abnormal in Tale, in fact small shakes often occurred down from the mountains. But this one was different. It came suddenly and it came hard. Yonas was woken up from his slumber, the shaking happening late in the night when most were asleep.
The huts that their tribe lived in began to sway with the trees, the shaking felt strongly the higher up it was. He turned, glancing around wildly for his sister, making sure she was around or deciding if he needed to find her. While their homes were stable - he would know from his father building them, it was not smart to stick around so high.

Just like her brother, Maizah was shaken awake. Instead of panic, she went on high alert. Her brain was fixated on ensuring there was no attack, no danger, before her bright eyes landed on her brother and noted his own panic. The swaying and swerving was the next thing that registered, and she moved closer and reached out to grab her brother's arm.
"We need to get out and get on the ground."
Without further stress or delay, she moved to lead them toward the door and onto the ground.

As his arm was grabbed, he quickly nodded and moved toward the door with his sister. The swaying caused them both to stumble, but her stability and confidence helped him make it outside and into the chaos.
People were crying and screaming, but mostly rushing to get the elders and the weak out of the trees and onto the ground. The earth quaked strongly, but not strong enough to uproot a tree. Thank goodness it was the dry season and the roots were strong. Yonas moved away from his sister to hop down onto the ground, looking for their parents to make sure they were ok.

Having landed hard on the ground, Maizah quickly moved into action to help one of the locals lead an elder down from the trees. This was something normal, and they had some tools to help, but the swaying meant there needed to be a few more hands to help out.
"Is there anyone unaccounted for?" She asked roughly to one of the elder helpers once the woman was secured and resting on the ground.

Once he caught sight of his parents, his father working to help secure one of the swaying homes while his mother was off taking care of a few elders on the ground. His sister was nearby, and so he moved closer right as she spoke up demanding if everyone was accounted for.
"This area is clear, but the homes deeper in the woods...I'm not sure." The man spoke up, and Yonas glanced to his sister to see what she'd do.

It took nothing more to stop her from rushing out into the wooded area, ignoring her brother as she rushed to go and help others. She wanted to get there as quickly as possible and be of some help. She was steadily finding value in being valuable to her tribe, and with the shaking she knew this was important.
Behind her, she heard a loud cheer when the rumbling stopped, her confidence on her feet back. But everyone knew that most earthquakes were never solo.

He couldn't keep up when she was determined, so Yonas let his sister run ahead. Instead, he was grateful the ground didn't shake, though it wasn't noticiable unless you looked at the trees. Before, the way into the woods felt like a dizzy swim, but now it was clear enough that they quickly made their way to the other side of the settlement.
It was quiet, calm, ominous even.

The silence was enough for her to be concerned, so she shouted out and listened. A few cries came back, most confirming they were ok. So Maizah focused on the silent homes and rushed to climb up and make sure no one was hurt. Pausing at the top of a ladder, she leaned back over to look down at her brother.
"Make sure no one goes back up just yet. We don't know if there'll be any afterquakes."

Nodding and with a purpose, Yonas went around to speak with each of the other tribesmen. He was focused, and so he didn't mind his stutter. Plus the message was the same, so it was easy for him to work through it and get what needed to be said.
The tribemen were grateful and understood the task at hand, and soon enough Yonas found himself without any more and so he searched for his sister.

The homes were mostly empty, a good sign considering the damage that was done. These homes were a little older than the ones in the main town, something she'd have to mention to her father at a later date. It was a risk for damage from extreme weather, while uncommon still a possibility.
At the last home, she found a small child huddled in a corner, shivering a sobbing.
"Come now, it's not safe here." She called out gruffly, picking the child up and taking it outside, "Where are your parents, youngling?"

As he approached the house, he caught sight of his sister with a youngling. Surprised, he waited at the bottom to see if she'd need any help, though his sister appeared calm and collected. The home was secure enough, though he'd feel better if they just made way down to the ground.
Behind him, one of the others rushed over, "Julus, what are you doing? I thought your mother had you!"
"Me? I thought he was with you!"
Looking back, both parents were stressed and surprised to see their child alone.
"I-I-it's ok. Ma-aiza has them. He'll be-be safe."

She almost yelled at the parents, but it was clear it was a mistake and it was best to focus on getting the kid to his parents. Especially when he heard them and began to sob and squirm once again.
"Come now, none of that. Be strong or we wont make it down."
She was able to shush him enough to climb down, the kid being yanked out of her arms quite quickly to her chagrin. She smiled and nodded at the thanks of the parents, before she was with her brother again.
"I think it's clear here, let's get back home."

As they headed back, Yonas realized how exhausted he was. His sister must be as well, she was the one running about. The calm of the forest was almost soothing, the breeze and the trees and the animals quiet. It left a lot of room to thing, and be grateful, for everyone being safe.

Maizah was dead on her feet, but was on a mission. She needed to check in with their parents and let the elders know about the smaller part of their settlement. Everyone was safe, but the night wasn't over and there was always a chance of another earthquake. It would still be some time until she found her rest.
