Cathán absolutely despised being judged based upon his hybrid heritage. The stubborn teen was abrasive towards anyone that even dared to try to demean his abilities as an Aishan warrior and refused to back down from a challenge for fear of seeming weak. While he was delighted to travel the world with his family and visit distant relatives, the trip to Yael had already resulted in a few heated exchanges with pure Elarian his age. One of the Elaria, Alyx, had scoffed at him just yesterday upon his arrival in Zinris and Cathán made certain to prove her wrong about his abilities. Even though there was a treaty in place and even Elaria hybrids now more scorned him for being an Alkidike mix since obviously Aisha’s mystic had infected Elzira with the same ability. Aisha had started this hybrid madness and Alkidike hybrids surely were the worst then! What a waste of pure blood! How could they keep strong warriors if earthlings kept mixing in their inferiority with the superior Aishan bloodlines? The group of Elaria continued taunting Cathán with their gossip until he couldn’t take it any longer. “Want to test me? Let’s do this!” The whole afternoon had been spent rock climbing, going through training stances and even racing across an open plain full of limbara just to prove that Cathán could keep up and even beat some of the others.
Alyx was livid that Cathán was actually keeping up and eventually the group of Elaria teens had come up with a plan. “Cathán.” She waved her cousin over with a small grin. “We’ve warmed up with a few puny challenges but if you truly want to prove yourself then there’s this dangerous creature that you should get for us. Any good Elaria has conquered one and so if you can find this particular patterned one near our camp then you’ll be amazing. It’ll save the warriors a lot of trouble.”
“Fine.” Cathán raised his chin and set his shoulders back in defiance. “I’ll find it in the morning and take care of it.” Apparently it was a keldari? Something almost as dangerous as the menzuri back in Jahaur. The teen spent all night preparing traps so that when he woke up before dawn he was ready to creep around the area his cousins had depicted. The morning rays of sunlight were barely touching the ground when he finally found the speckled creature near someone’s home. Talk about a dangerous situation! Still, Cat didn’t want to wake anyone up and opted to instead venture a bit further away towards a nearby clearing. Instead of rushing back to camp to show off his captured prey, the teen found himself sitting down on a rock to study the creature in the cage he had woven for it. “For such a dangerous thing…you’re kind of cute.” He mused as he tilted his head and contemplated what to do with the speckled snake. Wouldn’t it be more impressive to return with something as big as a limbara instead of this little guy? How was this little guy such an intimidating creature to the others? It truly baffled him.

Imri could have strangled his sister. He'd asked her to look after Buttercup while he went to market with Lucijah and when he got back she said the keldari escaped. Instead of helping him to look for her she'd gone off for training, leaving him to search around the family home on his own. He'd already made a few trips out into the nearby wilderness hoping to catch sight of the lighter keldari, but with little to show for it.
A pair of swords hung heavy at his sides as Imri padded quietly through the jungle. He'd kept a keen ear on his immediate surroundings and a sharper eye on his surroundings, hood pulled down to discuss his hair. The last thing he wanted to do was come across anyone else while looking for her-
And as he'd prepared to skirt around a clearing, as she clearly wouldn't have gone someplace so open, Imri saw a stranger. Obviously of Aishan blood, but even more obvious was just how un-elarian they were. Imri crouched to further hide himself, a hand reflexively laying over one of his sword hilts. As strange as they were it wasn't the Aishan he was concerned with, but rather their quarry.
Imri's teeth grit in fury when he saw Buttercup. Was she hurt? Stressed? Taking a deep breath, Imri exhaled on a snarl and started to stand. As he did so he strode into the clearing, hood still pulled over his eyes and hands menacingly freeing his swords.

Cathán pursed his lips as he continued studying the speckled creature. He had found out that it liked crystals, the keldari stealing one from his hand after a lot of hissing and wariness. Now it seemed a little bit more comfortable and less threatening, more to Cat’s amusement as he decided that he truly liked the keldari. “Maybe I should just call you, Specks.” He was careful to not shake the cage a lot, the usually reckless teen surprisingly patient since he didn’t want to scare the creature despite how dangerous his cousin had made it out to be. “My brother would kill me if I came back home with you, but my little sis may support having a pet.” His words trailed off though when a sudden noise caught his attention, the teen slowly putting the cage back down on the ground and stepping in front of it. At first he had thought it was his cousin coming to check on him, but the appearance of the cloaked stranger quickly made Cat reach for his own weapon. Hands tightening along his spear, the hybrid took a stance and tried to look as menacing as possible. If this was some prank or someone trying to steal his catch then they would be in for a surprise!
“Seriously?” He hissed through his teeth in annoyance as he prepared to meet the attacker. If they wanted to try to scare him away with some threatening walk and such then they would be in for a surprise! “You think an air of mystery and some swords is gonna make me piss myself so that I leave? Not today. You can tell Alyx to suck it cause I am not backing down from this challenge!”

So that was it then? This hybrid had captured Buttercup and was going to take her away from him? The moment he saw the other move his spear and take up a defensive stance it was set. With a snarl, Imri's hackles raised and he charged. Let him try! He'd flay the heathen's flesh from his bones and feed it to her!
"You can tell Alyx yourself when you see her in hell!" Imri threw all of his fury into his blades and used their full weight to go after the other's head. While others in training had been taught to go for a less lethal approach Ai would hear of no such thing. Her children had been taught to protect what was theirs at all costs and Imri took that to heart.
Was that it then? Had Buttercup been taken because of a prank?! What if Zivah was in on it? Unlikely, but it didn't matter; Imri wasn't gong to be the butt of their jokes any longer.

“What?! You tell her! You’re the ones messin’ with me!” Cathán yelled back twisting back just in time to miss the blades. Dammit! This one was serious! He’d studied enough under various mentors to know that much. If anything Cat was lucky that he went out and did reckless things all the time so that he wasn’t as soft as some of the other Aishans he trained with! Still, there should have been some realization that someone who wanted him to talk to Alyx in hell was definitely not working with his cousin. That unfortunately would take a moment to sink in as Cat was too focused on the attacker’s next move. Still, rather than taking time to ponder the situation the hybrid’s temper was explosive as he refused to play chicken and so he twisted his spear out towards his attacker. “Try again, I dare you!” He hissed as he aimed towards the lower left side, something that would injure a vital organ if his attack truly went through with all of his strength. Even Cat though didn’t have that full gumption to push as hard as possible though he would definitely give the attacker a good cut along the skin if he didn’t move in time!
Though when he positioned himself for another attack Cathán made certain to sidestep away from the keldari, positioning his body away from the creature instead of risking it in another flurry of attacks. He was not about to let some feral a*****e hurt a poor creature! Cat snarled towards the stranger not wasting another moment before moving forward to meet whatever dirty attack happened next. If they wanted to try for his antenna or neck again then good luck! If anything he would sacrifice a safer part of his body for a new injury so that he could try to sweep the jerk off of their feet.

Imri's foot barely made landfall before he was pushing forward yet again. If he'd been a smarter fighter he might have watched for the spear head or at the very least moved to avoid it. Imri, however, was in a blind rage and didn't care for it at all. He took the hit in stride, only further gritting his teeth when his flesh tore and blood came out in an arch due to the force of his own movements.
When he touched down on the ground again it was far enough away from Buttercup that he wouldn't knock into her cage. He brought one of his blades down in a wide arch, intent on slicing the other hybrid's thigh.

Cat grit his teeth as he felt his spear slicing through the attacker's skin. Even while he had attacked the hybrid hadn't expected to do so much damage! Though it wasn't necessarily his fault as the other Aishan had charged forward into his weapon. The very thought made Cat angrier. Who would be so reckless?! He most definitely would not back down and look weaker than this guy!
A growl escaped him whenever the blades cut into his thigh, but instead of backing down Cat took the opportunity to do something more feral. Since he was long ranged with his spear and couldn't swing it up to punish the close range attacker, the boy simply bit his upper arm instead. His teeth pierced the skin enough to pull blood before he raised a leg to knee the attacker in the lower gut to shove him backwards. Spitting, Cat swung his spear around to brace for the next move and hoped that he could keep the guy further back this time.

Now that he was moving and twisting so much Imri's hood couldn't keep up. It slid off his head revealing stark white dreads that lacked any sort of antennae. His scars were all the more prominent now, with pieces missing of his left ear, but it wasn't as if he slowed down long enough for inspection.
Once his blade found purchase, Imri raised the other in preparation of a strike but instead cried out in surprise that quickly shifted into rage. He'd been bitten! And since the other hybrid's teeth weren't as sharp as a carnivores the pressure left an ache that was sure to bruise. Not that he could worry about it, the knee to the gut stunned him just enough to put distance between the two.
Imri snarled and ran to the left, hoping to give some moment to his next strike though even he knew it was seriously lacking. Even when he lifted his arms his previous wounds were pulling at him just enough to suck vitality from the strike.

Perfect. Cat smirked as he saw that his ploy worked against his opponent. There was suddenly space between them and it gave him plenty of time to deflect the next attack, the hybrid twisting away while swinging his spear out at the same time towards the other hybrid’s leg to try to knock him off balance. There had been initial shock at the sight of the white dreads and the lack of antennae made Cathan nearly gasp in surprise, but he knew better than to lose focus on a fight. There was no way he could lower his guard especially not when his opponent was out for blood!
But then….something slowly started to click in his mind now that he had pushed the other hybrid away. “Alyx would never work with a hybrid.” He started with a frown as he twisted his spear and pulled a step away, his gaze darting towards the keldari. “What do you really want?” If the other guy would even listen at this point. Even Cat’s blood was still racing like molten lava in his veins, the hybrid amped up and eager for blood since he had never truly had a fight like this one before…at least with another person and not a wild beast. Despite the feeling that the other Aishan wanted to kill him there was an excitement from having such a thrilling battle with someone his age - finally! Everyone else followed the rules and kept in line while Cat couldn’t bring himself to be so feral with his own family. This though…this guy was something else and Cat’s heart, had it not been racing still from the adrenaline rush, would surely skip a beat at the thought of such an opponent.

Imri took the full brunt of the fall. He was in such a rush to get at his opponent that it didn't take much to knock him off his game and despite the pain the Elarian hybrid rolled with it. In that moment he was able to block out nearly all of his aches if it meant getting closer to his victory. The more logical side of his brain, the parts of him that Lucijah so lovingly crafted, were screaming at him to slow down, but Imri's pride wouldn't allow it. This wasn't just about Buttercup anymore; it was about his entire family. They'd send a hybrid after him, and an Alkidike one at that! An outsider!
"I want what you stole!" Imri roared before twisting his prone form so that he could grab the other hybrid's ankle and rip him to the ground.

“What I stole?” Cat was completely at a loss and so taken back that he was not prepared for the sudden grab. A grunt left him as he twisted to the ground, the hybrid rolling on the ground with the other one and finally twisting just enough so that he could pin the stranger down. Cat slammed a hand on either side of the boy’s face so that he could take a moment to catch his own breath, the consequences of their battle showing as blood started to trickle down from the various injuries inflicted by the Elaria hybrid. “I’m not a thief.” He hissed as he tried to figure out what the other boy was even talking about…
Wait a second…
“You mean Specks?” Cathan frowned as he stared at the other hybrid, noting everything about him. Now that they were right next to each other, Cat barely an inch away from his face the different traits were super noticeable. Was he an Elaria and Shifter hybrid? Not that he had time to process since he doubted the other boy would stay still for much longer. “I didn’t steal the creature, I was told to find something dangerous out here….oh.” Cat blinked again as he realized his cousin’s stupid ploy. Seriously! He swore on Aisha that he would get back at that stupid bigot of an Elaria. “But why would your pet be out here and not at home?” It wasn’t like he waltzed into the stranger’s house to steal the keldari! Cat was not like that at all! Mischievous and a bit reckless, but he was most definitely not a thief! “This is stupid.” Alyx was in so much trouble! Cat swore again before pushing against the ground to roll away from the stranger. Why were they even fighting? Sure it had been exciting, but it felt dirty that the fight had started because of someone else’s stupid a** prank. Cat wanted to fight the other boy because of his skills, not because of some misunderstanding over a poor keldari!

Imri let out an indignant roar at being pinned, but the boy's wounds were really starting to take a toll on him. Even though his spirit was raging with all the fury of a summer storm just the act of twisting around left him slightly light headed. Were it not for the other being ontop of him and the feel of the hybrid's blood on his flesh he may have calmed. However, it spurned him to keep going despite it all.
"Specks?!" Imri curled his lip in repugnance. "Her name is Buttercup!" He wasn't entirely sure this other hybrid was a boy, but there was one sure way to find out. Imri pushed on the other's body just enough to pull his knee up to his chest and kicked as hard as he could right between his opponent's legs.
When he was able to wriggle away, Imri sat up and pressed a hand onto the wound at his side. All of this movement was causing it to bleed freely, but instead of backing down he was preparing for another round. He steadied himself, widening his stance in anticipation.

“Well how was I supposed to know that?!” Hissed back Cathan before his hiss turned into one of absolute pain as he tumbled away, his arms crossing tightly against his abdomen against the pain. Maybe he deserved that one for biting the other hybrid earlier, but still! Blinking against the floating dots that threatened his vision, Cat picked at the nearest thing to him and tossed a rock towards the other boy. His aim was towards the side so the round stone just bounced against the shoulder almost like a protest instead of an actual attack now that Cat had lost his fury since realizing this was his cousin’s plot to mess with them. Now all he had was some wounds and some rather sore…parts.
Leaning against his staff, Cat simply glared at the stranger. “Can’t you kick Alyx somewhere instead?” He finally managed as he gathered himself and tried to ignore the throbbing pain below. “If Buttercup belongs to you then take her.” He growled towards the stranger because he was not one to take something from someone else, especially a living creature like that. Still, it did not stop him from tightening his hand around his spear just in case the other hybrid decided to continue the assault.

Ah, well, that answered that. Even though he knew Zohraduri had Aishan blood it was mixed with far more earthling than Imri so even though this hybrid looked to share his anatomy he couldn't be sure. Until now, at least.
The weak stone throw was met with a harsh kick to the ribs. The vestiges of Imri's fury weren't enough to keep him mobile in the moment, and he found himself taking a few steps back until he eventually dropped down into first a crouch, then a sitting position. There wasn't a part of his body that didn't burn, and the slice to his side was thankfully shallow enough that he didn't have to worry about bleeding out. It only really gave him issue if he twisted too hard, which wasn't an issue now that he was firmly planted on the ground.
Of course, he'd made sure he was close enough to Buttercup to pull her cage. With his free hand he unlatched the container, and gingerly lifted her into his sweaty, blood covered lap. The keldari lazily flicked her tongue before undulating up his arm and settling around her master's shoulders.
"If you know her name then you should know that Alyx isn't to be trusted. Not by our kind anyway." Imri snarled. Buttercup stretched to goofily flick her tongue under his chin before helplessly falling back into his lap.

Cat found himself bracing for another attack, not knowing if any other kicks or punches would be coming his way, but then the other hybrid was sitting down. A soft sigh of relief left Cat's own lips even though he took another moment before slowly sinking down across from the other Aishan. His whole body ached, blood and sweat had permeated his clothing, but his biggest frustration was the fact that the fight hadn't ended or started on better terms. It was one thing to issue a challenge and rush into battle, but another thing entirely to be tricked into it for someone else's amusement.
"I didn't think she would go this far." Muttered Cat, a slight flush of shame decorating his cheeks. "I just wanted to rise to their damn challenges because I am not weak." Foolish and headstrong, definitely, but not weak. The very thought made him so furious that Cat snarled the word. All he could do in the moment though was nurse his recently acquired wounds, shifting slightly to give his lower region some more breathing space to recover from the throbbing pain, and then Cat decided he would at least show some sort of apologetic behavior towards the other hybrid by tossing a packet of thick moss towards him. "Use it on the cut, it'll soak up the blood." He muttered though his bright blue gaze went towards the keldari. "I promise I didn't harm Spe-Buttercup, just gave her some crystals to snack on was all. Didn't feel right to bring her back to Alyx, so I stayed here to look over her. Didn't know keldari could be so cute."
