Soleiyu had organized the meeting for Lysithea and Alastor for a night that was most convenient for the two of them. He’d thought about inviting himself along, but he supposed he was a bit more chatty than either of them, and it probably would have benefitted the both of them to actually get to talk without him butting in.

They’d selected an easy to find location in the park that was still a good bit out of the way, and low risk for any unexpected visitors during their talk.

Alastor was standing before the bronze statue, hands on his hips as he tried to understand the strange shape before him. The statue was some form of modern art, and strange shapes were intertwined and looped together. Contemporary art was lost on him, but he seemed like he was focused on making an effort to understand it.

Honestly, he was glad for the distraction of a White Moon Senshi’s energy signature nearing, and when he turned to face it he could already make out her shape in the darkness. He raised one hand in greeting.

She looked like what Soleiyu had described so he didn’t doubt that this was the Senshi he was supposed to be meeting with. “Lysithea,” he called. “Thank you for coming. I hope it wasn’t an imposition to get all the way out here.”

“Alastor. I’m happy to meet you, Soleiyu spoke highly of you and…mentioned your situation. We have another like you living with us, his name is Fang, and he’s…well.” Lysithea shrugged, hoping that she wasn’t coming off as too eager to meet this senshi. It was…so interesting, these ones who came from space. Who still lived in the stars until recently.

…He didn’t…look different than a normal human, which was rather surprising after getting used to Fang. His eyes were a little different, but other than that, he could have easily passed for a normal human senshi as she was.

Extending a hand, Lysithea gave a smile. “He’s one that stands out. He has dog ears and a tail, or…wolf ears, I suppose. I’m not really sure. He acts very dog-like too.” Alastor was much more well spoken than Fang was too, but…she would keep that much to herself.

“If I understood correctly, you wanted to ask me what I remember about chaos and how I…was able to get it purged from me? Or, was there something else?” Had she rehearsed the words? Perhaps. But…they needed to sound natural, and she thought she had done quite well for herself.

Alastor’s curiosity perked up when Fang was mentioned. He nodded as he shook her hand. “I suppose I was always fortunate to come from a world so similar to Earth.”

At least, in appearance.

His homeworld was vastly difference from Earth, even before the Chaos had started complicating things.

“I’m glad you were able to look after him. It seems impossible to navigate Earth without assistance. I’d have gotten into a lot of trouble a long time ago if someone hadn’t intervened to help me fit in. But, yes–you’re correct. I am hoping to find a way to eradicate the Chaos on my homeworld. It’s choking out all the light, it’s unlivable, and dangerous. I don’t know how much longer my world can last. I’ve regained my strength on Earth, but I don’t know how far that will take me. I need to make a plan of attack. I figured, anyone with experience overcoming the Chaos is a good place to start. Is it something you’re comfortable talking about?”

Lysithea nodded and hesitated. “Had you been here before? To Earth, I mean. In the past? Do you know what it was like back then?” She thought this was what he was talking about, but it then dawned on her that he was talking about when he arrived this time, but…still. If she was going to help, she should be allowed to ask some questions too.

“He…really needed assistance, and I’m glad that I was able to help. He’s very nice, and I’m happy to be his friend…as for me and the chaos, I’m not comfortable with the whole situation, it took me without my consent, though I have no memory of it, but just because I’m not comfortable with it, I’m happy to talk about it, if it can help you, yes.”

She drew in a breath and withdrew her hand, thoughtful. “There were…visitors I guess. That’s what I’ve been told. And there was a big battle, and…a lot of people were taken by chaos. I suppose…I was fortunate, if you can call it that to have…someone who knew me that took me in. Told me a new life story, told me I was his sister…but.”

Sighing, Lysithea shrugged. “I wasn’t happy, though I doubt anyone could be when they’ve lost all of their memories and know nothing but the things they’re being told. He…was strangely violent to someone who seemed surprised to see me, and like they knew him, and I think that was my first real clue that…I didn’t belong. Ah. I know this isn't really what you’re asking for, but. What. Are you asking for? It’s just…the story that I can remember, really.”

Alastor considered her answer, but perhaps considered her comfort more than the fact that she might have had information.

“I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like you already carry a heavy burden. I can’t imagine.”

Well. Not really.

When he’d forgotten, it had been temporary. And, he’d been better for it.

“The Chaos on my world is tricky, too,” he said finally. “It’s unpredictable and overwhelming. It’s not just people here, not a person. It’s this thing. It stretches out across every corner and seeps into every surface. It whispers into your ear, everything you want to hear. It gives you promises and poisons you, just as it does the ground, and every little thing it touches. My only hope is that there are those who have found a way to defend against it, and that I cannot reach them only because of the storms.”

His lips pursed and he shook his head before he shrugged.

“I’ve been to many other worlds. Earth included. Although, this is the first time I’ve been back in quite a while. It’s changed a lot since the last time I was here. I’d wanted to see more of it, but the opportunity was lost to me. Which is impressively disappointing. My husband was from Earth, We’d always meant to visit more. But, things didn’t work out like that.”

An old wound at his chest found an opportune time to throb, so he absentmindedly rubbed at it when he continued, “I haven’t found anyone that’s encountered a Chaos quite like mine. In all the years I’ve had, I’ve never been able to destroy it. Or find its source, even. But I’ve got a plan. I just want to be prepared. Before I start asking for help. I thought if I could figure out how you combat Chaos here, maybe I could find a way to apply that to my problem. My world isn’t safe. I don’t think I can do this on my own. I wasn’t able to before, and I don’t know that I’d be able to now. Not without people to help. I didn’t have people before. And, asking for help isn’t particularly easy for me, but I’m trying. My world’s worth my pride.”

“Senshi belong together. Senshi work better together. We’re stronger together.” The words came out of Lysithea’s mouth before she had any time to stop them or think of them, and for a moment, it felt as though she might be on the verge of remembering something but…it was just the words themselves. Still, though.

“One of the…I don’t want to say unique, but. One of the…abnormal? That works, I suppose. One of the abnormal things about the Negaverse is the Youma. They can’t be saved like senshi can. They can’t just, ask for help and be helped…it takes a group to remove their chaos. It’s…trickier…stickier, if you will, I guess. But. Before, I was a part of such a group, we used to save youma. Help them become human again. Help them become senshi or knights, whatever they had been if they had been something else…I…”

She swallowed, this…was simply things that she had been told. By Malus, by Soleiyu and by Adria, others too but…saying it...

It was as though her mind wanted to dredge something up, was trying to dredge up faces, memories that no longer existed it…

Made Lysithea feel rather empty, but at the same time…

She wanted to do it again. Wanted to get the court together once more. Wanted to help. “If I can…talk to my friends, maybe we can help you with our court. Maybe, having whatever magic comes from a court…whatever can save youma…perhaps that would be beneficial to your home. It…it’s worth a try, at the very least.” Rubbing her forehead, Lysithea gave a little smile. “I…sorry for acting weird. I feel like. Saying these things to you means that I really believe them. Like another piece of me that was missing has come back…if that’s not. Too stupid to say.”

“You’re not acting weird,” Alastor assured; even if the history behind it all was unclear, he could see the way the gears were turning in her head. He might not have understood it, but it wasn’t so abnormal that it gave him any grief or made him think poorly of her.

Sometimes speaking out loud about something was the only way to work through it, and if she’d made something made sense, good for her.

She’d given him something to think about, too.

“That makes sense to me. If your friends are up to it, I’d appreciate it. I’m willing to try anything. I’ve never met a Court of Senshi before. If you have access to magic that can purify the Chaos out of a youma, maybe that’s something we could use. I don’t know. I don’t know if this is something that has to be purified or just destroyed.” He wanted it destroyed.

He didn’t think there was any good in it. After all of the destruction it had caused, he just wanted it gone.

He’d do whatever it took, and if she had some magic he didn’t have access to–some magic that could make her and her friends stronger–he’d be grateful for the help.

“Then I’ll work on getting us ready. We’ll see that we’re at our best when you’re ready to do this. I think, if you don’t mind, I’ll reach out to you again when I’ve gotten things situated? Keep you updated on what’s going on and you can do the same with what you’re planning.”

It felt good to have something to work on, someone that she could help...it felt. Familiar and…just.

“You can count on me, Alastor. I know it’s something that’s difficult to do. Trusting people…especially with what you’ve gone through. What you must have seen in the past…” She shook her head. “It’s hard. But. Like they keep saying to me, I’m proud of you for trying. It. It feels so condescending…but it's the truth. You are trying. And you’re going to overcome this.”

He had to. If he didn’t, Lysithea was quite sure that she would never forgive herself.

She was right, of course. It was difficult. He’d spent most of his life not trusting anyone.

And then, they were all gone.

There wasn’t anyone there to betray him.

He hadn’t forgotten what it was like, but the people of Earth were different from what he was used to. Most of them came from comfortable lives. Most of them had experienced normalcy before being inducted into their powered war. The standards of Earth were vastly different than those of his own; even if he hadn’t been a Senshi, he’d have thought Earth soft.

He didn’t think them lesser for it, nor did he make any effort to bring to light any of the hardships she suspected.

He could have found her words to be condescending. Pride was a sensitive topic for him, but she didn’t mean anything ill of it. She seemed sincere.

So, he smiled politely, and maybe there was a bit of humor there, too. He was used to hiding his emotions behind a smile, and did so easily. She was young, but optimistic. A thousand years must have separated the two of them, but he very rarely took the time to think about that.

“I appreciate it, Lysithea. You get back to me whenever you have a chance to talk to your friends. I’ll send you a message if I make any progress or plans towards my world. I appreciate your support. I won’t ever stop trying. I’m still here because I have a purpose, I’m not going to stop until my world is safe again.”

Purpose. They both had purpose, didn’t they? She had a world to keep safe as well…two of them, actually. The Earth had to be protected, just as Lysithea did. Just as Alastor did.

There was a warmth in Lysithea’s chest as she gave a small smile and waved goodbye, not having anything more to say…he had said it all, and she would be there to help. Right now though…right now she had to figure out how to get the court up and running again.

Right now she had to talk to Adria.

Before she was even home she was texting the boy, asking to meet up for lunch the next day, eager to see just what could be done. Eager to see just how much she could do.
