Mary was out again, though this time she had a gift bag swinging from her hand as she hurried towards the meeting area that Daphne and she had agreed on. Hopefully her friend would like the slippers, and even more hopefully, her friend would like her world! Quickening her steps when she felt the aura of the other senshi, Mary held up a hand and waved, grinning broadly when the not quite cat girl came into view.
“Daphneeee!” Her voice was half a laugh and once again she absolutely threw herself at the girl, hugging her tightly.
“I’ve missed you! It’s only been a few days but I’ve missed you! I’ve run into two horrifying people and it was…well. The first time was awful, but the second one…I punched him by mistake and he said that he could kill me but he wouldn’t, so, I’m not dead which is pretty great for me. How are you? I missed you so much! Oh! And I got you a present!”
Drawing away from the hug only so she could shove the bag at Daphne, Mary watched her with glee. “I wanted to get you something amazing, and…I think this might fit the bill! It won’t be as amazing as you are but…it’s pretty cool on its own!”

"Someone hurt you?" Daphne's emotions were always plain on her face. Right now, it was fear. Her catlike pupils were wide as she pulled away from the hug just a few inches, and searched Mary's face and hands for any bruises or scrapes. She'd known that Mary hadn't managed to finish her chibi ritual. She'd known that she hadn't been taking training all that seriously. She just hadn't known that Mary would be going off after the Negaverse in spite of all of that. It shouldn't have been a surprise with how brave Mary was, but there it was, and Daphne hated it. She tried to take a deep breath and focus on the bag that was being shoved into her hands. "Yeah, Chaos is nasty like that-" She cut off with a gasp as she pulled out the first slipper. It was a rainbow cat. It was a rainbow cat with spots, just like her. She held it up to her shoulder to compare, and even though the spot pattern was slightly different, it was probably the closest Earth had to offer. "It's me? Is it me?"

“I’m okay! I’m really okay, I promise!” Mary waved her hand to try and placate the now worried senshi. “I’m really fine…the first one gave me a big scare, but I used my magic and…I think it knocked her out! I’m really okay, and I am working to get stronger, so don’t worry about me! I promise I'll be okay!”
Thankfully though, the gift distracted Daphne as it was intended to, and Mary began to jump up and down, nodding eagerly. “I thought of you when I found them! Yes! They’re slippers, so they’ll keep your feet warm when it’s cold, and it just reminded me so much of you that I had to do it! I knew I was going to get some kind of rainbow cat…something but, Daphne! These were perfect!!”
She was practically dancing in place and then her eyes lit up. “Do you want to visit my homeworld? You can try your slippers on up there and not feel silly or anything! It’ll be fun! Besides, I want to show you so badly!” Mary extended her hand and pulled out her senshi phone with the other. “Pleaseee say yes!”

Daphne wasn't going to just forget the part where Mary had had bad experiences, but as long as they planned another training session sometime soon, she could ignore it for the time being. After all, she had presents to admire. "Oh, they're shoes?" she asked, finding the holes and putting her hands in them. " Warm shoes?" Rainbow cats were exciting enough, but her tail began to whip back and forth behind her as she felt how soft and fluffy they were, and especially when she felt how they were starting to catch her body heat after just a few seconds. " Warm," she breathed again, happy. "Oh, this is perfect, Mary. Earth gets so cold." She had no qualms about putting them on her feet here and now, but she turned back to Mary at the invitation to space. "You don't need excuses," she said with a little giggle. "I told you you'd have to take me sometime." She held out a slipper-clad hand, because she felt like she'd heard Soleiyu say something about needing contact for the phone magic to work.

Oh…Daphne was the most adorable best friend that anyone could ask for, and Mary shook her head, chuckling. “Well good! Then I’ll take you now! And yes, they are warm shoes! I’m so glad that you like them!” Taking hold of Daphne’s wrist, half worried that it wouldn’t work if she was just holding on to a slipper, Mary pressed the button that Soleiyu had shown her, feeling nothing but confidence in her endeavor. She drew in a deep breath and closed her eyes and waited for the feeling of the air to change. Waited for the feeling of being whisked away to Space but.
…Nothing happened.
After almost a full minute, Mary opened one eye and scowled. “...Why didn’t it work? Why are we still here? Hang on. I’ll try again, I’m sorry, Daphne!” She pressed down on the button harder this time, shutting her eyes firmly once again, but. Once again, nothing happened.
“...I don’t…I don’t understand.”

Daphne also closed her eyes, waited, and- Ah. Nothing. She half-opened one eye to confirm, and yes. It was still Earth. Not ideal, but it didn't get to Daphne the way it seemed to be getting to Mary. "Hey," she said, gently pulling her wrist away from Mary's grasp so that she could loop her arm around her friend's shoulders. "You know what they say. Technology is great when it works." Yes, that was an Earth phrase. Yes, she was proud of herself. "This thing has to be full of, code? Or wires that could glitch?" she said, leaning over a little to squint at the device. Yes, there were electronics on Daphne. No, she was not good with any of them either. As she often had to explain, she was not a Mauvian. "We could go look for Soleiyu?" she asked, thinking it might be time to call in an expert. "He could probably tell what's not working."

Mary felt tears begin to creep into her eyes, and to her horror, they began to spill over, and she nodded. “I don’t know…do you know where he lives? Do you know how to get in contact with him? Do you think he could help?”
If anyone would know, it would be Daphne. She knew Soleiyu, after all...and he knew her so…
“I just know it worked last time…I…”
Reaching up, Mary swiped her arm across her stinging eyes. “I’m sorry, Daphne…I really wanted you to see Mary…it…was so pretty when we went the other day…”
She swallowed and chewed her lip. “...If you…see Soleiyu and…I mean. I think I just want to go home right now…I’m…This sucks but…if you see him, tell him I want to know the answer? Or…or find the answer for me? I…”
Giving a sniffle, Mary hugged Daphne tightly and then turned to run away into the night. She was embarrassed. Not only did her best friend think she was off getting herself hurt…but now she had shown herself so stupid that she couldn’t get to her own homeworld.
No, what Mary had right now was heavily wounded pride.
