Soleiyu had been keeping busy recently, but there was always so much to do in Destiny City. Really, he didn't know if he was ever going to get bored. If he wasn't tinkering, he was trying to check in with Lysithea, or meandering around trying to solve everyone's problems. Tonight, he had nothing to tinker with, no Lysithea to spend time with, and no problems to solve.
So, he was out looking for some.
Sort of. Maybe he was just a bit lonely. It was nice to get around and stretch out without any obligations, but doing so alone was just--well, it felt like something was missing.
Thankfully, it was easily resolved. There was an order signature not too far away, and as soon as she was on his radar, he was making a beeline for her.
The benefit of being a Mauvian was that he knew he didn't have much of an energy signature at this stage; he wasn't worried about someone finding him or intercepting. It took him less than a minute to arrive, and he saw her before he'd even gotten too close. When he neared, he slowed down, to ensure that he arrived with a regal, sophisticated air.
There was no dirt on his paws, no leaves in his fur. He looked perfect, he knew it. So, he settled himself where she could easily see and said, "Good evening, over there."

Mary paused at the voice, and she frowned slightly, glancing around and finally having her gaze land on the beautiful white cat.
“Oh my god, you’re so big!” Mary’s voice climbed in pitch and she knelt down, reaching her hands out and beginning to pet him without even waiting to introduce herself or let him sniff her or any of the things she would normally do for a cat…since. This wasn’t a real cat.
This was one of the magical talking ones just like Etoile, so…this one didn’t need to be slowly won over.
“Good evening yourself! I’m Mary, what’s your name, are you here to help me out? Or are you here to yell at me because I don’t do much or are you just here to cuddle, because I’m actually okay with two of those three choices, and honestly two of them will end with us cuddling so I hope that you’re okay with that as well.”
There was an excited smile on her face, and she wished for a moment that Daphne was here. Daphne would like magical cats, she was sure.

Soleiyu could have purred from the compliment; he didn’t seem to mind her petting him. He could tolerate the attention when it came with kind words. “My name is Soleiyu. Of course I’m here to help you, that’s my job. Scolding anyone isn’t going to do anything. If you haven’t been doing much, I’m sure there’s a reason.”
He nudged his head into her hand. He hadn’t come out to cuddle, but he wasn’t going to turn his back to the attention.
“What makes you say you haven’t done much, is everything okay?”

“Well, Soleiyu, I just. I got drafted into this war, and I haven’t done anything. But I did meet a new friend the other day, her name’s Daphne and we’re going to start doing things…she mentioned something about a ceremony? I mean, I’m not sure if you’d know the answer, but do you know of like a chibi graduation ceremony that I was supposed to go to so I’m…you know...not this weak any longer?”
She scooped him up and then sat down, plopping him in her lap and rubbing the space between his ears. “Daphne said that she had one…she’s not from Earth I guess, but, she’s really cool and I’m glad I get to be her friend…but. I don’t know.”
He might though, if she could ask a coherent question. “Everything is fine, I’m just. Not good at this.”

He blinked. Daphne? He knew a Daphne who was not from Earth. “I’m glad to hear she’s making friends,” he said, settling comfortably into her laugh. “She’s got a strong spirit, I met her a while back. I know she’s had a hard time, I’ve been worrying about her.”
But, Mary seemed sweet. Less awkward or jittery than Malcolm, so he hoped she’d be a good influence on her.
“There are rituals that Chibi Senshi can undergo to access more power. Each one is unique, so what works for someone might not work for someone else. But I do know that if you’re trying to access more strength, you should visit your homeworld. You’ll find answers here that you can’t find here on Earth–or with anyone else. Have you been there before?”

“You know her? Oh, she’s fantastic. I kind of want to ask about her tail, but I don’t want to be rude, I love cats and well, obviously.”
Mary gently smooshed Soleiyu’s cheeks and then shook her head slowly. “I’ve never been there, no. How do I get there? What do you think it’ll be like?” God, his fur was like a cloud and she sighed happily, leaning down to kiss his little nose. “Have you been to a homeworld? Have you helped a chibi do a ritual before? Do you think it’ll hurt?”
Oh. Wow.
Honestly, despite what she had told Daphne, Mary hadn’t actually thought that she would be feeling…excited...but having a cat in her lap truly did the trick, and now she had more questions than she knew what to do with. “I…didn’t realize that I could go up to my homeworld…is…will that be in space? Soleiyu, will that make me and alien? I’m quite sure Daphne is one, and that’s perfectly fine! I just…am I one? Will I be one?”

Soleiyu didn’t protest when she smooshed his cheeks together, even if he was certain it made him look undignified.
“Do you want to be an alien? Senshi are unique, in that way. You were born here on Earth, but a lifetime ago,” or more, “Your starseed would have belonged to the Senshi of another world–someone who was born there. Like Daphne. But now, nearly everyone is born here. No one really knows why, except that their worlds aren’t sustainable, but at least we’re all in this together, right?”
It was a rhetorical question; his tail danced behind him, occasionally curling around her.
“Do you have your phone? I can show you how to get up there. I’ve been to other worlds before. It’s not scary,” he reassured. “You just need your phone and a little focus. It is in space, though. It won’t hurt, it’s really easy. I’ve never helped do a Chibi ritual, but it’s supposed to be a good thing, so I can’t imagine that will hurt, either.”

Mary nodded, her eyes growing wider and rounder the more he spoke. “That’s…so…what, I was an alien in another life? That…that’s so wild...” She wondered what she might have been like in this other life, and honestly, she wanted to know. Wanted to find out…though she figured that was utterly impossible which…
It made sense that it was utterly impossible.
“I have my phone, yeah. Can we go now? Can I take you up, I mean, if you don’t want to then I won’t do it but…”
Mary didn’t really want to go alone…and though she could bring Daphne, she wasn’t sure when she’d see the other senshi again. But, she pulled her senshi phone out as requested, looking at the Mauvian with nothing but trust and excitement in her eyes. “Tell me what to do.”

Soleiyu blinked, immediately interested. “You want company? I’ll go with you, of course.”
How could he say no? He was interested, and she was so polite and enthusiastic. He liked the way she seemed to fawn over him, he needed more of that in his life. He turned to make himself a little more comfortable in her lap and waited for her to pull up her phone screen. “Before you do anything, get a good grip on me. I don’t want to slip out of your arms and get left behind. When you’ve done that, you just have to relax, breathe a bit. Clear your head. And then, do you see that button right there?”
He pointed with his paw before settling back into her lap again so she could hold him better. “Press that. It’ll take both of us up. And when you want to come back, you just do the same thing and it’ll bring you right back here to Earth. And it’s not scary at all. I think it feels a bit like standing in front of a fan that’s spinning really fast, but it’s fast. Only a few seconds. Go on, try it. You’ll see.”

Mary nodded and drew Soleiyu up a little closer, looping her arm around him and drawing in a breath, careful to do everything he said. Finally she gave a nod and looked at her phone. “All right, well…here we go then, Soleiyu! Yolo!”
It wasn’t a phrase she used often but…it seemed terribly important to use it now.
She was going up to Space. If that wasn’t a you only live once kind of thing…she didn’t know what was.
