A huff left Nykinae as she pulled her skirt up a bit more. The long thing was beautiful, don't get her wrong, the color went well with her skin tone and the pattern was cute. But the length did sometimes get into the way when she needed to do things. So that left Kina with the hem of her skirt tucked into the waist band as she climbed into a tree. Why? Because she was hungry and wanted some of the fruit the tree had to offer. Only.. Kina was a bit on the short side.
"Stupid tree.. couldn't have a low hanging branch." She said in an annoyed tone.
The Ice hybrid leaned down on the branch she currently sat on and reached for the end. Her weight made the branch move low but she was still out of reach of the fruit she desperately wanted. Kina simply wasn't in the mood to hunt any game and meat didn't sound appealing. "Just a bit farther..."

Syaa had been out foraging near one of the smaller towns. He tended to spend a certain amount of time each year to visit Jauhar. It made him happy and there were a lot of different plants here. He could look for hours and would always find something new. He felt like he needed a lifetime to discover all of its secrets. He was on the trail of a particular small plant that had red round berries and soft tiny leaved fronts. It was very cute with alternating leaves and he wanted to get a berry or two so that he could try to propagate it. From his readings he saw that they grew in the crevices of trees, so that was where he was looking for them. It just so happened that he had come upon the same tree after the girl had climbed it, he had not looked up until the worst possible moment and not only did he jump but he got an eyeful too. "Oh! I am so sorry!" The tree hollow was all but forgotten.

Sadly, Kina was too busy trying to reach for the fruit to notice that someone had come up to the tree. It was just her luck that they had approached from an angle she couldn't see them. So when she heard them speak, rather urgently, she became startled and jumped a little. It was just enough for her to lose her balance on the branch, shifting her weight a bit too much to the side, and she slid. Nykinae had enough time to grab the branch with her arms, but that left her bottom half dangling down. While it wasn't all that high up off the ground she didn't want to fall as it would risk her scraping her arms on the rough bark and she didn't want to land on the person who apparently was beneath her. And that was if she hadn't just kicked them in the head when they startled her. Of course now that she thought about it, they had seemed surprised themselves. The more she thought the more she realized they would have looked up. And she was in a skirt of all things. Kina felt her face warm up with embarrassment.

Well that escalated quite quickly, she was now dangling from the branch. "You can drop if you need to, I can catch you or there is some soft moss underneath this particular tree thankfully." He was not well versed in these sorts of situations and he felt very bad for the poor girl. He had his eyes averted now. He was ready to catch her. Awkward as the whole thing was her safety now was most important.

When she was told that she could drop down if she needed to Kina leaned her head back so she could glance down. Upon seeing the tall, obviously alk hybrid, she groaned a little. He'd seen up her skirt! When he said he could catch her she rolled her eyes at him. "You can't catch anything if you aren't looking at it. You'd drop me!" And if she landed on the ground, on her butt, and ruined her skirt she would be very upset. "Just.." She huffed at the boy. "Just grab me and help me." Letting go of the branch right now would scrape her arms.

He took a deep breath and reached up as high as he could, he wrapped his strong arms around her and held, supporting her weight. "You can let go now." It was true that if he had wanted to catch her he would have had to look. But there was a fine line between gallantry and well he wouldn't go there. She was tiny in comparison to him and well put together. There were some good breeding in her bloodlines and he felt that this whole mess must be pretty embarassing to her. Of course she had been up a tree and that took a certain kind of intrepidness.

When she felt his arms go around her she stiffened up a bit but took a deep breath in. She could stand to have someone touching her for just a little bit. Kina looked back at the tree branch and mourned the progress she'd made but she did let go when he said she could. Her hands went straight to his arms that were around her since she didn't want to be dropped. "Alright. Now don't drop me." Kina stressed on the 'don't' bit since she was not looking forward to ruining her outfit. "And since you startled me you can pick me some fruit. You're tall enough."

Gingerly he put her down. Better to pick her fruit than have her nearly fall out of her tree. "How many would you like?" He reached up and started plucking. It was best to be active and not even think about what he had seen. The poor thing had been through enough today. After he had taken down quite a few fruit he remembered to actually check the tree for what he had been looking for in the first place. He scuttled forward and peeked in the hollow at the center of the trunk. There sat the little plant that he had been looking for, unaffected by the drama that had just taken place. He stuck his hand in and gently extracted it.

Once she was on the ground she turned to look fully at the boy who had scared her into losing her balance. Her hands went instantly to her hips. Though they at least had the decency to ask her how many she wanted as they picked a few. Kina only smirked at that, her weight being put to one side so that her right hip stuck out with a bit of attitude. "That's perfect." She would get to eat some and save some for later. At least this tall boy had a use! Then she noticed that he seemed interested in the hollow tree. She drew her brows together with some confusion and leaned to the side, even getting up on her tip toes to see what it was he was after. As he pulled the weird plant out she tilted her head. "Really?"

"Yes." He said simply. "It is rare and I believe quite useful in many ways." This one did not have a berry so he would be better off trying to propagate the plant to the point where it would bear one. He dug a tiny pot out of his pack and stuffed it with damp moss from the tree before nestling the plant inside. "I wonder...." He held the pot with both hands and called his magic to him. He could see it swirl out and infuse the plant. He wasn't quite good enough yet to make it bloom but...with a little effort.... The plant uncurled a new frond and he watched contendedly as each tiny leaflet unfurled. It looked lush now and sparkling with health. "Practice pays off." He remembered he had an audience. "I have only read about this one."

To say she was less than pleased to be ignored, more or less, was an understatement. While the boy did answer her he seemed to be more interested in the plant. Kina couldn't help but roll her eyes at him as he put the plant in a pot he'd produced out of nowhere. Of course it would be some weirdo that she ran into in the woods. "Sure.." She untucked the hem of her skirt so that it wasn't in the waist band any longer and gathered the fruit he'd picked for her. It would get her skirt a little dirty but nothing too bad. As he made the thing grow a little more she did pay attention in her peripheral vision. It wouldn't do to show him she had actually watched. "Hm. Its just a plant." Her free hand waved him off after that. "Weird pervert." Kina looked at the hybrid. "I should make you carry me back to my camp so I don't ruin my outfit."

His eyes focused on her. Really seeing her. Watching, calculating, the plant balanced finely on his fingertips in its new pot, bearing witness to the scene. He blinked slowly. "Brave of you to let a pervert carry you." He wasn't a simple peasant. He was a complicated one. A forest prince and she was in his world right now. He let his eyes rove up and down here. Even in the bush she was beautiful. "You are lucky it was me out here and not someone less savory."

"Brave of you to admit to being a pervert." If he thought he was going to make her feel embarrassed again then he had another thing coming. Of course as he looked her up and down she did the same, taking a bite of her fruit in the process. Of course she did have to roll her eyes yet again when he stated she was lucky. "I know I'm a princess but I'm not a damsel. I can take care of myself. So don't get any ideas." With the bitten fruit still in her hand she motioned for him to come stand in front of her. Pointing at him and then at the ground expectantly.

He held her gaze, wondering what had happened in her past to make her who she was now. Calculating..."Is that why you were hanging from the tree?" He moved to where she indicated after securing his planty prize. "I am a botanist, I was only here for the plant, the er fruit I plucked was a bonus." She was unlike anyone he had ever known, walking a fine line of frission and friction that he found rather intriguing. It wasn't often that people of all things caught his attention. But she was slowly penetrating the layers of scientific information coating his inner awareness. "Are you an actual princess? Would that be from Zena or Matori?" He was idly curious.

She waited until he was at the spot she pointed to before she smiled sweetly up at him. It was all an act of course. She dropped the fruit she had in her hand, since the other currently held the hem of her skirt with the non-bitten fruit in it, then grabbed the strap of his bag that went across his chest. Kina pulled as hard as she could to bring him down to her level and narrowed her eyes at him. "I wasn't dangling from the tree until someone startled me by looking up my skirt!" Kina didn't let go of him either, she kept him there. If she could she'd make him kneel. As it was she liked him hunched down to her level at the moment. "I'm my family's princess."
