After her training on Belmont, Targovishte was feeling…a lot better about all of this powered stuff. She felt as though she had more confidence and was on a patrol with the intent to patrol this time. Of course that included keeping her senses open, feeling for other people…it was such a cool skill to have and she appreciated it. Belmont had been a very good teacher, informing her about everything she had been confused with…which…was a lot to be sure but…
Now? Now she felt as though she had direction.
And of course that was why when she felt the aura in the distance, she hurried towards it rather than ignoring it or moving away.
The one thing about this new aura sense and learning it was that she was still discovering how different…strengths could feel and it wasn’t until she saw the black clad person with the literal giant sword that she realized she had…well.
She had miscalculated badly.
And without a second thought, Targovishte nodded to the person and shifted her course, turning around to follow the path she had just sprinted.
…If she was lucky, he would ignore her and…just let her go to fix this obvious mistake.

A page. Lopezite hadn’t felt a page in so long that he was almost surprised by the sudden energy signature on his radar. And then, the sudden page that (very smartly) immediately turned around and seemed to be hurrying off.
It spoke of caution and awareness. And manners, he liked that about her already.
It was so comical that he couldn’t help but smile, and he almost even laughed. He didn’t need to chase after her, not when he could see her. Not when he could just teleport.
The action took only an ounce of his energy, probably less than it would have if he’d tried to actually walk after her.
“I didn’t mean to startle you,” he said, now from a few feet in front of her. “I’m not out to pick a fight or anything, you’re safe. I hope someone hasn’t been giving you trouble.”

Oh ********. Not only did this man have a sword that was nearly as large as he was, but clearly he could do other things that people just shouldn’t be able to do such as moving through time and space...or just. Teleporting or…or something.
One moment he was behind her, the next he was in front of her, and the noise that managed to escape Targovishte’s lungs was one of horrified surprise. “....I…um. You…no. No trouble. I just. I was just learning and I didn’t realize that I just. I mean.”
Oh god. There was no way she could get out of this one, and to be honest, she wasn’t sure how to even try.
With wide eyes, Targovishte took a step backwards. “...Um. I wasn’t just. I was just. You’re. How did you do that?”
Not eloquent. Not anything worth writing home about but…now she was curious and wanted to know just how he had managed to teleport...because that was surely what it had been…and if she hadn’t been so terrified, it would be really cool.

Lopezite smiled. Patiently. Kindly.
“Ah, getting started can be a little difficult. Especially for Pages. They sort of throw you to the wolves, don’t they? I heard you don’t even get someone there to help make sure you survive your first few encounters. Just, ‘find it out on your own’. I’m not sure the intention there, it seems like it’s just creating fodder for the war, no? You exist, maybe it’ll distract someone. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get stronger. I’m sorry.”
He offered his hand, clearly in greeting.
“I’m General Lopezite. Once you’ve been with the Negaverse for a little while you get the opportunity to teleport. It’s incredibly useful. We also get real weapons, not…”
He looked at what appeared to be a windsock and shrugged almost helplessly. “Whatever was lying around.”

Targovishte held onto her windsock a little more tightly and swallowed. It had been lying around. That was how she got brought into all of this to begin with. She had picked it up to try to help and now she was…but. No. She didn’t hate it. It just.
“...Targovishte, Page of Jupiter…um. The ah…the teleporting was kind of a neat trick, I’ll give you that but…I promise that I don’t want any trouble. I just. I had felt something and wanted to investigate but I didn’t…really…” s**t. Why was this so hard to explain? It was where she had gotten tongue tied the last time too. “...You were just. I didn’t realize you’d be like…strong. I guess. That…if that makes sense. I didn’t realize that the auras felt different based on…whatever…I’m. I am new. Yeah.”
She was doing her best though.
“...My windsock isn’t so bad. It’s way too colorful…but it’s not bad.”

“It’s cute,” he admitted, “But…”
He reached over his shoulder and tapped his sword affectionately. “I mean, it’s a little more fun than I think I’d want if I were trying to fight something. I’ve been attacked before by all sorts of monsters, but it’s been a very, very long time since I was helpless. And, even back then I had people there to help me if I needed them. If I’d been an enemy, you’d have been in a lot of trouble.”
He smiled again, and seemed to be genuine with it. “But, I mentioned before, I’m not looking to fight. I’m glad you got to experience this with me instead of a threat. How new are you? If you don’t mind me asking. Are you any good at defending yourself with that windsock?”

“I mean…I turned a monster to dust with it…it’s not…great to fight with but it’s…better than nothing?” Her eyes were on his sword again and for a moment, there was a glint of jealousy in them. How did he get something so fantastic like this while she was stuck with a thing stick and obnoxious fabric? It…
It really didn’t seem fair.
“Ah…What do you mean? Experience what with you?” Was Targovishte missing something? Was this some kind of a test? A trap? Belmont would have obviously known what to do in this situation but…but her? She was overwhelmed and utterly out of her depth.
“I’m not really sure but…I don’t…I mean. I really need to go so…bye.”
With that, she turned on her heel and began running again, hoping against hope that he wouldn’t be able to teleport again. Maybe she could get away…maybe…this wouldn’t end with her split in two by that sword.

Lopezite was going to let her go. Really, it would have been easy. They had an easy conversation, maybe she'd be less squeamish around the next Negaverse Agent she ran into. Maybe someone could glean something from her, or make an ally of her enough to convince her to join.
…If she survived long enough for that to happen.
Two energy signatures appeared on his radar–Captains–and she was running right towards them.
Still running towards them.
Still running towards them..
…Okay.
He could still see her, so it wasn’t an impossibly difficult task to just teleport over to her, to hook her arm in his own, and to teleport her away and out of danger.
For now.
