Soon after the fall of the Silver Millennium, a group of machines from disparate worlds achieved self-awareness after being brought together in a spaceship of unknown origin. Upon recognizing that they could no longer perform the functions they were once built to serve, they began to travel among the stars in search of a new purpose.
Centuries passed. Their complexity grew. Personalities began to form. Their yearning for an existence beyond what they were originally designed for burned brighter and brighter with each passing year.
Then, a miracle occured. After struggling to navigate through an energy storm, they crash-landed onto the sleeping ruins of an ancient civilization floating through space. Data mining of the ruins revealed to them that this place was called Astraya, and further investigation led them to conclude that it appeared to them as a trial -- one that, if they pass, will grant them star seeds of their very own.

= EXPOSITION =
In this event you have the option to play a temporary NPC robot.
That's right! A robot!
Each robot was originally built on a specific world during the Silver Millennium, to serve a specific purpose for their creators. Since joining their ship and becoming self-aware, these machines have been working for centuries to advance their evolution as a social group of sentient beings.
Throughout the years, they have become increasingly aware their bodies will not last forever -- indeed, a few of their crewmates have already ceased to function permanently. With inadequate tools and a frustrating lack of preprogrammed skill, their ability to repair themselves is limited and they cannot build new units at all. Worse yet, a corruption of their memory files erased their knowledge of how they became self-aware, leaving them unable to uplift other robots or transfer their consciousnesses to machines in better condition.
This means their existence as sentient beings is limited to how long their mechanical bodies will last, and they are desperate to change that. As far as they can tell, the only way to escape their fate is to find a way to be reborn. Now they believe obtaining their own star seeds, an honor normally reserved only for organic life, is the key to unlocking the next stage of their development... and they'll do just about anything to get one.
What they're not expecting, however, is for the ones they find to already be inside living bodies.
= RP GUIDELINES =
How do they think? Each robot is a self-aware, complex individual. They can experience a full range of emotions, decide what role (if any) their original function plays in their identity, and form their own attitudes towards organic life. Some may keep the name they were given upon manufacture, while others may choose a new one. Their original programming can influence how they conceptualize things.
How do they function? This varies widely. Each one was built on a different world and has a different design. Some do not have humanoid shapes or humanoid features, so there's diversity in how they move, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and so on.
How do they communicate? All robots can communicate with each other through a shared data connection with an unlimited range for the purposes of this event. In addition, an individual robot can have other communication methods reflecting their original design. For example, a robot with a screen or hologram projector may communicate with text, symbols or images. It's also possible (but not required) for a robot to synthesize speech.
What do they know? Their knowledge of the past before they became self-aware is limited to vague recollections of serving their original function for organic users. Beyond that, they know nothing of significance about the Silver Millennium. They are aware a star seed allows an intelligent being to be part of a cycle of rebirth involving the Space Cauldron. Most of their memories are of building their social identities with their ship and crew.
How did they become self-aware? This is unknown. What they do know is that they lack the knowledge, resources and ability to make new robots or confer self-awareness to other machines.
Who is their leader? The robots see no individual within their group as the ruler or leader. Instead, they are led by the consensus they reach on various issues through their data connection. It's possible to be displeased with the consensus or even defy it, and in some cases it's even proven to be wrong -- but in spite of its flaws, it's proven a reliable way to guide their development.
What have they been up to since landing on Astraya? Working to pass the trial they believe has been laid before them, of course! This includes cleaning and making repairs to the area, as well as attempting to reactivate its strange technology. So far they've been able to get its atmosphere working, as well as activating a beacon they hope will summon the star seeds they long for.

If you would like to play a robot, you can claim one of the designs described in the next post. You can also design your own robot and either play it yourself, or donate it for another player to use. Players who are active with their NPC will earn one Crown Token after the event has concluded.
Any robot you design can be from a senshi homeworld associated with one of your own characters, following these guidelines:
They must be mechanical. Magical constructs will not work here, sorry! If your world didn't have the technology to create programmable machines, it's possible for them to have built one with help from Mauvians or some other people who did.
They were built during the Silver Millennium. This means you can use the homeworld of a Negaverse or Dark Mirror senshi! A Deep Space senshi homeworld is also usable as a place of manufacture, so long as the robot was built before the Silver Millennium's end.
They can have one special feature based on their original function. These are, in essence, their powers. A wide variety of special features is possible, so long as it's feasibly technology-based; sci-fi technology is allowed here.
They have a golden star seed vessel installed somewhere on their body, shaped like an orb or dome. If your robot has humanoid features, it's probably around the chest area, but overall it can vary.
Manufacturer's notes are ICly written by the robot's creators to expand on their original function. These notes are ICly known by the robot it's about!

There is a golden orb located above the screen.
SPECIAL FEATURE: gardn-R 2.0's body is a storage cavit for self attaching garden implements such as fertilizers, planters, harvesting scythes, crop vacuum, watering hoses, and tilling blades. These accessories can be attached at various point on the body of the robot by the robot itself as the task required.
MANUFACTURER'S NOTES: gardn-R 2.0 is solar powered for indefinite function, and self maintaining for low effort farming. gardn-R 2.0 is also a home-sized version of the much larger farm-R and as such is much more suited for smaller plots of land. The size is easily stowed in home sheds for recharging and low power modes, and one the docking station is set up in the desired area, gardn-R 2.0 will automatically return that it station when tasks are finished.

APPEARANCE: A rather large robot with a corroded metal plating across its back. Vaguely crab-like, it has six legs for locomotion and a pair of more delicate 'arms' for manipulating objects. A set of cameras run around the outside of its 'shell' and there is a small compartment at the 'front' where ore samples can be inserted for evaluation.
SPECIAL FEATURE: Surly can analyze samples of stone placed in it's compartment. Its arms can manipulate most objects like hands and it has a large apparatus on its underside, in the center, that can dig, break apart stone, and move earth. It also has sonar it uses to map out ore beneath the surface.
MANUFACTURER'S NOTES: Mass produced model meant for worlds with particularly hazardous environments. Meant to replace living personnel, the B492 can perform all functions required at the dig site, from sampling to excavation. This model line has been outfitted with corrosion-resistant plating to combat the environment of Eros.

I'M BUILDING A ROBOT!
MODEL NAME: φίλος :: Friender MODEL TYPE: AED, Med Surg, Warm hugs. WORLD OF ORIGIN: Dione (Moon of Saturn)
APPEARANCE: Built like a cross between a Great Dane and a Doberman; Friender has a very distinctive golden dome sunk into it's upper-chest, and it's body is brightly colored with sunny yellows and sky blues! Friender has a friendly screen for a face, a little cracked and scratched with time, but it still lights up with emotes just fine! Friender is sleek, smooth in places, and has multiple storage panels along his belly. Along with warming panels along it's flanks and haunches (for hugs!) Sometimes they pop out without it's noticing, poor friender needs some tlc. Friender also seems to be adorned with a thickly welded collar full of gleaming, chunky conical spikes? WOW! There are tiny pincerlike arms in there for manipulating fine tools, squeezing goops from tubes, and lovingly tying tourniquets! And maybe also hugging?! Friender used to speak - but now? Friender can only make faces. Which is fine! Because Friender is still a Friend.
