Dinner had gone well, and Lionel had sketched out what he wanted to do for the matching outfits for Steve and Andy, and as his time grew short, he took his friend out to the park that was a few blocks away and finally let his glamour drop, the aura of a Captain rippling through the air as it did.
He didn’t look…too terribly different, apart from the iridescent scales that covered part of his arms and some of his face and the dark sclera, but it was different enough to be noticed. “Well, what do you think Andy? This is my new normal, and I don’t really hate it but. It’s different, that’s for sure!” He grinned, his small fangs glinting in the light of the setting sun.
“Truthfully, I feel like I’m far more dashing like this. Am I like your friend? Am I anything like Dylas?”
He was teasing, but also a little hopeful. He wanted to be told that he had nice, gentle eyes when he was hanging out with his friend. But at the same time, half wanted to be seen as a monster when fighting those of the White Moon.

Andrei did not drop his own glamour; he stood there as if perplexed, taking in everything he could about his friend’s new appearance.
He thought he looked very similar, if he were being honest, but the scales and eyes were rather difficult to just ignore. “Why would you hate it? It is different. But if it is more practical for you then that is all that matters. Appearances are superficial anyway, I think you look–well, I suppose dashing might be appropriate. It is not the word I was thinking of. I am not afraid of you. You look like someone I would like to be friends with. Better than a human.”
Even if Lionel was still a human, he’d learned to be guarded around them. “You look trustworthy now. Like the type of person who would take their friendship very seriously. It would make me want to be friends with you if we were not already good friends.”

Celadonite laughed softly, but seemed terribly pleased by Andy’s words and nodded slowly, though shook his head a moment later. “I was so scared that you’d be afraid of me, and that you wouldn’t want to be friends anymore. This. You don’t even know how much this means to me, Andy. Seriously. I…”
He laughed again, though this time it was rather shaky and flopped down on a nearby bench. “I think you’re the only one I really worried about. I thought you would find me disgusting or something but…if you think I’m better like this…seriously, I feel the same way. I mean, I don’t enjoy being cold all the time or like…the falling asleep when I get too cold but…it’s a price I’m more than willing to pay for what I get out of it so…” He shrugged.
The smile that crossed Celadonite’s face a moment later though, that one was clearly genuine. “I always want to be friends with you, Andy. Seriously. You’re one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. And now that I’m like this, if you ever need protection or anything…I’ve got your back. Always.”

Andrei tilted his head and watched as Celadonite took a seat. “I am not squeamish.” His ears were burning and he looked a bit flushed at all of the kind words, but he was resilient and stubborn and didn’t want to look like any of it was affecting him too greatly.
“I do not scare easily. It would take more than some scales and fangs to chase me away. I do not judge based on appearance. All humans already look strange to me. I hope you were not worrying too much about all of this. This is strange to me. Interesting. But not bad. I would not think less of you for doing what was best for you. And no one got hurt, did they? So who am I to say anything? We can be friends.”
After some of the hardships he’d already faced, being told that he was nice made his stomach flutter a bit, and Celadonite was offering to help him even more than just by helping him dress Steve.
“For as long as we have. Even after we save Velencya, you and I will still be friends.”
…He hoped.

“If you need help with saving Velencya, I’ll come help you! If there’s any battles to be fought I can fight! And I’ll help you with anything else that you might need.” He hesitated and sighed after a moment, giving a rather sad smile. “...I hope that after you save it. You can still come and visit sometimes. If you’re gone forever after that, I will miss you a lot, just in case you were wondering.”
He hadn’t thought about that though. About Andy vanishing back up into space when they figured everything out…and now that he was thinking about it.
He wished that he wasn’t but…
By that time, surely they would have won the war here, and perhaps. Perhaps they would have a way to visit their allies in space…that. Seemed like something that could be done. If anything, he would hold out hope.
“Good. Friends forever then. You and me.” He forced once last smile and held his hand out, the smile melting into what almost passed for an easy grin. “Friends forever.

Did he need help saving Velencya? He wasn't sure if there was any sort of battle to fight, and if he were being honest it sounded like something that was well over his head. He wished it could be solved by simple combat--then they could all just train and get stronger.
But. It was bigger than that. It was more than he understood. Maybe more than the Commodore understood, if he didn't have a solution to save them all yet.
He appreciated the offer anyway, and smiled at Celadonite for being thoughtful enough to want to help.
Andrei reached out and accepted his hand, shook his hand.
"We will save it. Please do not be sad. I believe in us. And the Vanguard. And the Commodore. It is only a matter of time. We will be able to visit, I promise. I would never abandon my friends."
He hadn't planned on making attachments to anyone on Earth, but...
He didn't regret this at all.
