Eternal Sailor Etamin was on his Homeworld once more. He had done extensive restoration, as had his world. The Great Library had been rebuilt as well as the Palace and many other buildings. He was in what he remembered to be the Chief Librarian's office... Sailor Etamin's office... his office. However, it definitely was not as it should be. It was a mess. Trash strewn everywhere, furniture on its side, thrown across the floor. Piles of sand crisscrossing the room.
Etamin sighed, shook his head and got to work. He righted the table and desk and moved to them to their correct position. He put up the bookshelves against the walls and placed the books and scrolls in their place, dusting along the way. He pulled up the chair to the desk and organized it. Then he took a moment to appreciate the craftsmanship of the Etamainian woodwork of the furniture - quite Ancient Egyptian looking, with a few small differences.
Etamin put all the knickknacks in place, as well as all the office, Scribe and Librarian supplies. Finally, he took the broom (that had kind of just appeared a few weeks ago) and began sweeping the floor. On Etamin, you really didn't have to worry about tracked in dirt, but dust was still a problem, and sand was everywhere.
After some time, he felt drawn for some reason to go back to the desk. Weird, he thought, but he ignored it and continued to sweep as there was a good deal of sand left. The sensation remained and only grew stronger, until he could no longer stand it. He put down the broom and walked over to the desk. To his surprise, there was a small blank scroll there, where just moments ago, there had been nothing. Next to it, had also appeared an inkpot with just a small bit of ink and a quill pen.
Etamin drew back, in apprehension - what was this? Then he found he had the need to write something on the papyrus scroll - in hieroglyphics. However, the only hieroglyphics that he currently was the single reed/feather. It was something he knew innately for it meant 'Etamin' the name of his world and himself. It also had a few other meanings - for one 'to Write' or 'Writing' for that was what he was all about.
So Etamin picked up the pen and carefully wrote his name upon the scroll, and then placed the pen down on the desk. There was a sudden breeze through the window that knocked the inkpot to the floor. It shattered and the ink flowed out and vanished along with the shards as if they were never there. (What the Cauldron, where did that come from?)
Etamin looked down at the papyrus once more and saw the 'feather' hieroglyphic remove itself from the papyrus, fly up and then bond with him. Before he could panic, he got a strange sensation, and understood that this was a gift from his Homeworld. Though his Homeworld was still wary of him, it saw and felt that he was doing he could do to make amends and redeem himself. This gift, whatever it was, was to honor that effort.
He did not find out what it was until he returned to Earth later that day. He returned in his Powered form as always - in his mind, it took a lot less explaining a Powered Form appearing out of nowhere to Civilians (although a Powered Form always had explaining to do from a Civilian Point of View) than a Civilian appearing out of nowhere, not to mention, a Civilian appearing out of nowhere risked their Power Identity being comprised if a Chaos member was around, and Etamin wouldn't know it until it was too late if the Chaos Member was powered down as a Civilian.
Etamin appeared before two (what seemed to be) normal Civilian women. They were startled. "Sorry, just passing through, ladies." He walked on to find a good place to power down. When it seemed that he wasn't going to hurt them, they began whispering and giggling about his muscles and how hot he looked in that Pharaoh Costume. Etamin sighed and kept going- this was Destiny City after all.
He passed a traffic sign and one of the women let out a shriek. "Wha-at? What is it?" He turned to the women who were in shock, pointing to the traffic sign. To his amazement, the sign was in Hieroglyphics. His head turned slightly to the side and his mouth dropped open. If the woman had shrieked at the sign, it surely hadn't been that way a moment ago. He stepped back from it... and his and the women's reactions were of greater shock - the words turned back to English. Then the full extent of this gift, this, 'Enhancement' was made known to him:
Passive Ability: Lost In Translation
All non-magical, written and printed word within 2 feet of Etamin wraps into Hieroglyphic writting. If Etamin moves out of the 2 ft. range, it will return to it's original language. Unreadable writing will remain unreadable, but if the original text is in a language Etamin can read, he will still be able to read the hieroglyphic writing.
