Pharos turned as Neckar shielded her and watched as the black tendril sank into her best friend. It seemed he wasn't having the best luck with chaos of late. "That was not cool," she said, watching her friend scramble, looking terrified and sort of out of it. "What did you do to him," the tiny knight exclaimed, grabbing her staff and taking a stance against the senshi making sure to put herself in between Neckar and the other.
Neckar was scrambling backwards as darkness descended upon him and he felt an invisible force trying to tug him down into the darkness. It was alive and swirling, trying to take him over. He could feel his breathing picking up, as he struggled to fight against what he was sure was possession. Why did he ever watch that movie.
Villon laughed out loud, hopefully loud enough for the big lump of flesh to hear him. "Nothing, just something to keep him distracted. Same thing I'm going to do to you as well." He tilted his head and slowly moved forward. That little distraction would only last for so long and he wasn't sure if he wanted to take on two white moons at the same time. He cracked his neck, charging forward at the tiny knight, trying to make sure he was aware of the staff she was currently holding
Pharos had to be careful to keep herself between the senshi and Neckar. She didn't know what the other did, but she did know that whatever it was made her friend very vulnerable. This senshi was much bigger than her, taller even than Neckar, but that usually gave her the advantage, because she was tiny and very agile.
She kept low and aimed to take out his calves and ankles, moving as he rushed at her. She swung her staff hard as soon as he was close enough. She’d seen what she could do, by accident, when she put enough strength behind her swing. She didn't want to do that, but she certainly wanted to put him down easily enough.
Neckar was still trapped in the nightmare, as fresh as it had been when he had it years ago after watching the Exorcism of Emily Rose. He never imagined experiencing it again and in such vividness. When the nightmare began to fade, Neckar was still frazzled, his sense coming back to him. He figured Pharos could hold his own while he collected himself, still trying to fully shake the imagery.
Villon had a choice to make…
He could hit the bigger senshi, and take the trip from the little mini knight? Or he could hit the mini knight and deal with the bigger senshi? It was only a split second decision before he chose to spit another one of his nightmare goopers at the big boy, falling onto his a** when the tiny little thing managed to trip him. At least this would give him time to get a call in. He was not strong enough to take on two, sadly.
Pharos managed to hit the senshi, but it wasn’t before he sent another tentacle toward Neckar. She changed her direction as quickly as she could, trying to get to Neckar. “Neckar watch out,” she shouted, jumping to try to intercept. She just barely made it, grabbing hold of the tendril and it seeping into her.
She shivered deeply feeling confused, watching her surroundings change and she was back on the surrounding. She looked down and was shocked, she was see through. She was a ghost, but that was impossible, she’d come back. She was alive … “Neckar … neckar, something isnt right!”
Neckar looked up to see Pharos get it by the stupid tentacle, his face darkening, as she called out to him. He stood finally cleared of the nightmare he had succumbed to. He moved close to Pharos. “It’s okay … I think it just an illusion.”
He moved, his fist clenched, “Proteal Replica,” he called out, watching is magic activate, ready to defend his best friend.
Well that didn't work out as planned….
Villon was not prepared for the big one to release his magic, eyes glazing over as he saw himself, but with cracks all over his body. The senshi frowned, tilting his head with this seemingly different version of himself did the same. Strange, there were black wings, his outfit was….
amazing. His arms were a solid black from the tips of his fingers all the way to just past his elbow. Instead of the ooze dripping from his mouth, it was coming from the tips of his fingers. A crazed smile was on his face and he looked positively gleeful.
Magnificent.
Something told him he needed to do something but he couldn't remember what it was, opting to stare at this image a moment longer.
Neckar grinned when the other seemed entranced by him, he didn't speak, knowing it would likely break the illusion, but he stalked forward looking confident, poised, his fist tighten and ready to attack should the other realize he meant to harm him.
Once Neckar was close enough, he charged forward. He wasn’t worried about Pharos because the senshi’s focus was on him. He balled his fist up tighter and aimed a punch right for his gut, intended to down the senshi and keep him from spitting another one of those tentacles.
Pharos heard Neckar even if she didn't see him. It was comforting, even when it looked like somehow she had died on the surrounding again. Her breathing picked up some and she tried not to think about it. Closing her eyes, she tried to will it away, tried to make the illusion … Neckar said it was an illusion … to make it go away. Like a child, who thought they’d seen a monster. If you close your eyes, then it won't be there.
Villon kept watching as his other self came closer towards him, planning on asking how, when his perfect half landed a pretty heavy punch to his stomach. That knocked the wind out of the senshi and broke the illusion, with Villon coughing like he had smoked a pack of cigarettes in one sitting. He was currently kneeling onto the ground, head lowered.
"W-Wow…Punch hard for senshi…." He coughed, keeping his head lowered while he spoke, "Something was telling me I should've aimed for the tiny one over there…." If the big dobe thought this would keep him from spitting, well he had another thing coming. Instead of spitting another tentacle, he pulled out a crystal, activating the signal on it.
He hated calling for backup, but he supposed he could make an exception this one time. Maybe when he gets home, he should call his cousin and ask about those muaytai kick boxing lessons he did. At least he would be able to have something to back him up.
Neckar was surprised the other was able to say much of anything because he tried to hit with a lot of force. He knew his attack made him stronger, but apparently one punch wasn't enough. He balled up his fist and went after the senshi again. Another punch he supposed should be enough take him down and then he and Pharos could get out of there.
Taffy had been in the area despite Fafnir telling her not to power up alone. Who was he kidding… everyone knew not to tell a teenager not to do something, especially something like this. She was honestly just walking through the city, getting use to the feeling of the individuals around her. She didn't try to approach anyone, honestly giving everyone a wide berth while she put in this practice of sort.
She got the signal easily enough, an SOS. She was tempted to ignore it, but she realized that whoever was calling was almost right on top of her. She could feel a darker aura, as well as to brighter one and she had intended to move away, but now she was curious.
She spotted them close enough, just a couple buildings down, but on the roof. Really?!? Why the roof?!? She took to the fire escape and scaled the building surprisingly fast, her skateboard tucked awkwardly in her belt.
When she reached the top climbing over the rooftops ledge, and frowned to see the senshi grab hold of a corrupt link fafnir, ready to punch his lights out. She jumped into action hastily freeing her skateboard, skating over, then jumping off the board and kicking it into her hand before smacking the big pink loaf.
"Hands off," she shouted, "what the hell?"
She didn't have time to recover as senshi went to his knees because she had to throw her skateboard up to defend against the little pink one trying to hit her with her staff.
"Woah!"
Pharos only just saw the girl as the effect of senshi magic wore off. She saw the girl jump from the skateboard and smack Neckar with it and she jumped into action. She charged at the girl staff and hand and swung it. She shouted, but Pharos counted, "you hit my friend with your skateboard… that senshi attacked us first."
She glared as much as she could trying to push the girl back with her staff as she watched Neckar trying to get to his feet.
She jumped back and swung again, but missed as the girl dropped the board and skated out if the way toward the senshi.
Oh thank God he got some one that wasn't useless.
However, the look he gave the big Olaf that was about to smash his face in was a little crazed. He was about to spit a tentacle at him when he saw a skateboard hit the senshi pretty hard, causing him to loosen his grip. Villon procured another tentacle, spitting it at the big senshi that was now on the ground.
He would have to thank his savior a bit later.
Once he saw that the tiny one was back up he whistled at the lieutenant. "Perhaps leaving would be best now. Don't let the big one use his powers on you!" He wouldn't be able to grab her from her skateboard, but hopefully she would hear him.
Neckar barely made it out of the way of the tentacle in time, rolling and jumping to his feet to quickly shuffle backwards. He wasn't sure the range of the attack, but he managed to miss it. He saw the girl approaching on her skateboard trying to get away from Pharos and ducked down to clothesline the girl in a way.
It didn't work at all.
Taffy almost missed the senshi trying to knock her off her board, but she had been skating for years and simply leapt to avoid his arm and stomping on his back before jumping back onto her board and skating backward looking at the pair. It wasn't that hard of a trick, but she was still lucky to stick the landing and not miss her board entirely. She was no Tony Hawk, and certainly no Langa, but she might be able to keep up with Langa well enough.
She stopped in front of the other senshi and frown at him, "you must be crazy. Two against one." She kicked her board into her hand and jumped up on the ledge looking back at the pink pair. The tiny one was helping the big one up and she grinned, shaking her head before jumping down onto the fire escape.
She looked to the very tall senshi and shook her head again. "I'm Taaffeite by the way … I think I can see why I was told not to power up alone, though I don't think I would do something so reckless. The tiny one is brighter …" she wasn't sure that was exactly the word for it, but she continued on. "Anyway I have to get out here," she said heading down the fire escape ready to call it a night. That was a weird experience no matter how cool of a Batman moment she felt she had.
"See you around," she called from a few flights down.
The tiny little negaverse agent quick jumping over his little attempt and bouncing right off his back, digging her heels in. Neckar was sure it was on purpose and even with her light weight, he groaned at the force of it, forced fully to his knees even if he was knocked fully down. He nodded when Pharos asked his if he was okay and helped him to his feet.
"Don't worry. I've had worse … I'm sure you know on the farm and just falling out tree when we were younger. Let's get out of here, I think they are pretty done and I'd rather not get hit with that senshi's magic again."
Pharos nodded, "I agree, his magic is very weird. I'm even sure what happened. I was on the surroundings and worse I never made it home I guess. I was a ghost."
She helped friend by rubbing his back until they made it to the roof's edge and they both took off heading in the opposite direction of the chaos pair. It was time to call it a night.
