Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Remarque had been considering his conversation with Logos, and her concerns about Morpheus–a Dark Mirror Senshi that he’d really only met fairly recently and hadn’t been able to get much of an impression of. He hadn’t seemed troublesome or anything, so Logos’ concerns took him a bit by surprise.
But then, the heat was making people do crazy things.
He thought he’d been hallucinating when he started seeing strange, flashing colors earlier in the evening and it was only when he realized that they were fireflies and relaxed a little. They were abnormal, though. He’d had the misfortune of coming into contact with one and it ******** zapped him, so he’d decided he had enough of Destiny City for the night.
He had Mirrorspace. He’d done his fair share of gathering energy tonight.
It wasn’t late enough that he felt bad about pulling out his compact and asking Morpheus to meet him at the large fountain in the park. There was a mirror nearby, he could just take them to Mirrorspace and enjoy the nice, cool air.
Away from this heat. Away from these fireflies.

Morpheus went to the large fountain in the park and he looked about at the fireflies he had seen before that were rainbow in color. He nodded his head to the prince and sat down on the edge of the fountain. He waited a bit before he decided to speak. "You wanted to see me?" He already knew that Logos had been angry with him and he was pretty sure that was what this was about. He would say that it had been the heat that caused him to attack his fellow dark mirror but that would be a lie. It was his own arrogance and belief that he was right and she was wrong. She had annoyed him by being so pushy with things, but that was his viewpoint so he wouldn't use it as a crutch. He waited to be told he was a shameful dark mirror or that he would be punished. He figured any of them would be a sign that he should leave the court and what the knight had told him was true. So he waited to see what the truth was and see what the prince would tell him and he would watch his eyes for the truth as well.

“Yeah. Was wondering how you’re doing.”
Remarque raised a hand to fan at himself a bit and then asked, “You want to stay out here or take a trip into Mirrorspace? It’ll be more private in there. A little cooler, too. I don’t want you to be miserable while we talk, but this heat’s obnoxious.”
He didn’t seem annoyed at Morpheus, or even mad at anything more than the heat.
“I’ve got a mirror right over there. We can talk while we walk, unless you really prefer chatting out here.”
He wanted the cool air of Mirrorspace but he wasn’t going to corral Morpheus there if he didn’t want to go. If Morpheus wanted to stay, he’d just have to hope no one came snooping around.”

Morpheus nodded and then shook his head "No we can go wherever you like. I hope you will answer my questions without getting angry at me for asking them." he was looking forward to getting out of the heat the summer had been brutal indeed. He walked freely to the mirror space. "I've heard some things lately and I have been told other things, I want to know if this is where I am meant to be." He said softly hoping the prince wouldn't be angry at the thought. "I didn't do any actual harm to her you know, my magic is illusion based." He said softly.

Remarque raised a brow as he began to lead him to the mirror. “Why would I get mad at you asking questions? You can ask me all that you want.”
He walked a few steps in silence, mulling over Morpheus’ words, and then said, “I think she was just caught off guard. A little upset, but I probably would be too if someone jumped me with their magic. She’s fine, just wants to make sure that you’re not getting into trouble. There might come a day when we all need to be ready to have each other’s backs, and loose cannons can be dangerous. You seemed pretty tame when I met you, so I figured something had to be going on. I mean, obviously, try not to attack members of the Court? I’m glad no one got hurt, but we might not always be so lucky.”
When they reached the mirror, he nodded for Morpheus to go first, and then when they’d both stepped into Mirrorspace and arrived in the Common Room, he breathed a sigh of relief when they were greeted by cold air.
He continued, “Tell me what these things you’ve heard are?”
…Because if he’d attacked because he was frustrated or short tempered or misled, Remarque wanted to correct that quickly.

He cocked his eye in return "I got the feeling doubting the court was against the rules." He shrugged "Least that's how she made it sound and I was annoyed that she was being rude so I tossed one of my illusions at her, foolish perhaps." He nodded "Yes I agree." He sighed out a deep breath and then said "A knight told me the court was founded on blood and torture." He turned and looked at the prince. "Is that true?" He hoped the prince would say that it was all a lie. It didn't mean he would run off and join the white moon court, but he did want to know if life could return to the mirror world if that could ever be. Morpheus asked what he wanted to know most of all "Is there a chance life could come to the mirror world Remarque? If you tell me the court was founded in blood and is no longer that court I will believe you, I want to bring life to my garden in the form of singing birds if that dream is possible. Logos told me we only want peace, the knight said the court is stained in blood, tell me the tale if you would."

Remarque pursed his lips just slightly, not because he was reluctant to answer but because there was a lot to unpack in the questions.
“Well, doubting the Court is fine as long as it’s in the pursuit of answers. I don’t recommend just throwing it all away because someone said something you don’t like, so I think you’re doing the right thing, asking about it all. Try not to attack another member of the Court, even if they’re being annoying. If you’re having any real problems with them, just come and ask me. I’ll see what I can do.”
Mirrorspace was a comfortable cool, a welcome difference to the warm summer nights.
It was safer to discuss such things here, anyway.
“The easier question is, yeah. I think there’s a chance that life could return here. We’ve already made huge advancements, here. You know the Mirrorscape didn’t even exist when I first started? So we’ve already accomplished in carving out a little space for ourselves, a place where plants can grow. A place where we can terraform, where we can build. Mirrorspace is giving us the pieces we need–all those crystals we can find? It’s trying, Morpheus. I think it’s only a matter of time. We just have to keep doing whatever we can to restore its strength, too. The more energy we gather, the stronger Mirrorspace gets. So, I’m optimistic, yeah. I think we’ll get there. We’re not a very big Court, and not everyone takes gathering energy or helping Mirorrspace seriously. The most I can say is, if it means that much to you, keep trying. You’ve just gotta keep doing your best. For the rest…”
He sucked in a breath and sighed; this was something of a sore topic, something he didn’t particularly like talking about.
“Our Court wasn’t formed in blood and torture. So it’s ignorant to claim that’s the legacy of the Dark Mirror Court. When we were first formed, it was because Ares encountered Mirrorspace while traveling between worlds. She wasn’t always a Dark Mirror Senshi. But, she stepped into the mirror one thing, and stepped out another. And then, she found others to take with her. She used to part of the Blood Moon Court–a team of White Moon Senshi who did torture and kill. But that’s not the Dark Mirror Court, nor has it ever been. Never mind the fact that I haven’t seen Ares in a decade. She’s irrelevant. I can count the times I’ve seen her on one hand, so forgive me if I take offense to the implication that her poor choices are any reflection of this Court. What Ares did in the Blood Moon Court, she did with the White Moon. That blood isn’t on us. We don’t do that. We have never done that. That reputation is Ares’.” And maybe Leto’s, but he wasn’t going to dig that hole right now, either. “Not mine. Not ours. All I want is to stabilize Mirrorspace and create a safe haven, outside of this war. I don’t think this planet is going to hold up forever. I want a chance to save as many people as possible. I think Mirrorspace is the answer and I’m going to work my hardest to make sure it’s ready for us when we need it.”

Morpheus bowed his head "That was what I needed to hear the most." He was grateful to know there was a chance if he worked hard he could bring life to his mirror space. He nodded "I will try to avoid attacking the annoying of the court." He said with a smirk. Morpheus turned his head to the side "Is that then not why we are chaos and not order? It seems to me we are a neutral court without that mark on blood and chaos on the court. The white moon do not require energy the way we do to revive their planets and wonders. I will not abandon our faction because things are harder, I just wonder if that is the reason why we must work harder."

Remarque snorted but nodded, a bit amused at his promise to attempt attacking anyone in the Court, but as long as he wasn’t hurting anyone–it was something they could work on.
“We have to work harder because things aren't handed to us. They have old, dead worlds. That they might be able to breathe life into. Worlds that are far away and difficult to access. It takes a week–weeks sometimes, for them to take one trip and the next. Us? We can go in and out as we please. And their worlds are vulnerable. And isolated. We don’t know what else is out there. We don’t know what destroyed their worlds in the first place, or if it’s going to be back. But us? We’ve got Mirrorspace. And if we can get enough energy to stabilize it, we’ll be able to control it. Defend it. We’ll be able to create more, sustain more. And it’s not just one person trying to protect a whole world–it’s all of us. And we’re in it together. We’re supposed to have each other’s backs–if not for ourselves, for Mirrorspace. We take energy–replenishable energy, no starseeds or anything that can’t be recovered with a good night’s rest–and put it to good use. Creating a world from scratch is no easy task. But in the end, we’ll be better off than any of the White Moon. Chaos is what you make it, I think.” He shrugged. “Having this power has given me the ability to make the world a better place. Not just Earth, but what we’ve made in Mirrorspace, too. I think I’ve done more good in there than most Senshi have done on their worlds. And I’m going to keep working. Not giving up until we have a sustainable place to live for us and everyone who’s important to us. And,” he flashed a smile. “Birds.”

Morpheus smiled it was his greatest wish and he hope someday it would come true. He would gather more energy and help to build the mirror world into a safe place for all animals, not just the birds he loved so dearly. "Thank you, your highness, I will keep fighting to strengthen our home then." He bowed his head to him. (Fin?)
