The Wishing Tree (1): A Destiny City Star Festival Tradition to be held every year; In Town Square, there is a beautiful tree with spreading branches. It is tall, but the lowest branches are easily reached. The city has decorated the tree with small, star-like ornaments and glistening lights. Thick leaves and beautiful purple flowers dangle from the branches, along with a myriad of different colored papers with handwritten wishes. Next to the tree is a stack of blank paper with twine attached, and a handwritten sign that explains:
Write your wish on a sheet of paper and tie it to the tree. Take one wish off the tree and do your best to grant it. When you have granted the wish, bury the paper in the park.
The papers are biodegradable and filled with seeds. There are no rules for wishing, but you are encouraged to wish for something vague enough that it can be interpreted in many ways so that it can be granted; you do not write your name on it, but it is encouraged to write something that doesn’t wish for self gain, but rather something that can make the world a better place. Some wishes dangling from the tree already include things like “I wish there wasn’t so much litter in the park,” “I wish someone would clean the graffiti off the old historic buildings,” and “I wish there were more volunteers at the shelter.”
If you choose to use the Wishing Tree, what do you wish for? If your wish is private, you may write it on the paper and choose a spot in the park and bury it yourself instead of hanging it on the tree.

Wishes were something Holi has been making ever since she was little.
Varying things she would wish for, from a new teddy to a pretty little kitten to take home. She usually doesn't make wishes at The Wishing Tree, but something was telling her to make an exception this year. She admired the cute little trinkets, wondering if she would be able to have one for later. Gabbling a piece of paper and pen, she frowned, having some second thoughts about what she was going to put on the piece of paper. This was something she has wanted for the longest time, but if she put it to paper, it seemed like she was finally committing to something she has avoided all her life so far. Instead of continuing to have this inner battle with herslef, she simply started writing:
Quote:
I wish my parents didn't leave me that some one would love me clean the bus stops around Destiny City.
She didn't realise she was crying till her vision was blurry. Quickly wiping the tears away, Holi put on a smile, glad no one noticed or asked if she was okay. Instead of hanging her wish up, she choose to bury it instead. No one needed to see that she was secretly sad, that wouldn't do with what her foster mom tasked her with: To be happy and live her life to the fullest.
Thinking about her kind foster mom made her feel terrible asking for her parents. They left, she shouldn't ask for them back when she had a mom. She couldn't help but want to know why they never came back to her when they dropped her off at the Destiny City police station at the age of five with nothing but the clothes on her back and a sign with her name on it. However, despite how she felt, that was still no reason to ask for them back right?
Right.
Holi grabbed the first wish she saw, giggling when it was a wish for some one to look after some of the dying plants on the opposite end of the park. This was something Holi could do! Taking the piece of paper with her, she made her way to part of the park where the plants were, working on plucking some of the wayward weeds that seemed to grow from nothing, humming as she went. As she cared for the plants all thoughts from earlier seemed to ease themselves out of her mind. She didn't need to see or meet her actual parents. She had her foster mom, friends, and fans from her channel.
Maybe she should look into getting plants as well? This was super peaceful and relaxing. Although whomever thought it was a great idea to just leave these plants without care should be ashamed of themselves. "Plants need love too dang it." She was talking to herslef, not aware of some of the looks she was getting. Either way, tending to the plants did help improve her mood tenfold. Now that she was all dirty, a shower would need to be had before she could head back out and enjoy the festival. Holi stood up and threw the weeds in the nearby garbage bin, humming as she made her way back to her apartment.
One way or another, she would be alright.
