Heatwaves (11) : An unfortunate dry spell has come over Destiny City, and a heat wave has made it all but unbearable. The heatwave is only projected to last for a week but it’s been rough. Plants are wilting, people are wilting. The city is experiencing blackouts, which isn’t helping. Thankfully, the reservoir is always open. Just, crowded. It might just be the worst part of the summer. People are passing out regularly, and the hospitals are getting too many admissions to keep up with. It’s probably just the heat and not anyone up to anything nefarious, right? Better stay hydrated and try to keep cool, and maybe avoid everyone in weird costumes, just in case.

Aurora sat in her house it was dark and so hot because of the heatwaves and the blackouts that went with it. She considered going out as Lacille but she was just too hot to deal with any of it. She sat in her backyard with her feet in a lukewarm bucket of water, then she got up dumped out the water and refilled it with cold water from the hose. She wished she had a pool that she could swim in but since she didn't she would have to do her best to deal with the problem in the only way she could.

She was already ready for the fall and cool weather at this point. Things had been so crazy and the heat tended to make people angry, which caused more problems for everyone. She preferred the quiet and peace as well as cool of working AC so she could sit inside and read her books. Instead, she was outside just trying to survive the heatwave till it broke and she would get power back. The heat also made it very hard to sleep at night. It was a wonder that their had been no fights breaking out in the city due to the heat, at least none she had heard of.

She sighed out deeply and then she noticed the power finally go back on. She sighed and went back into the house as the AC turned back on. She knew it was likely that the power would go back out many times before the end of the summer. After all, the city had so many people and everyone was trying to stay cool as the summer heated up. She was relieved for now so she figured she would be grateful for the relief. She had nothing to complain about at the moment. She would be able to go to bed soon and get some actual sleep as the house started to cool down at last.

When she laid her head on her pillow she heard rain starting to fall on her roof and she sighed deeply they needed rain badly and it would take the edge off the heat for at least a little bit. She would get a reprieve from the summer heat and get some time to relax for a bit. She was happy and was able to drift off to sleep and get a good night's rest wrapped in her silk sheets that were cool in and of themselves. Which helped matters so she was comfortable even as the house grew cold from the air conditioning. She slept deeply and woke the next morning feeling a great deal better than she had in a long time. She breathed in the much cooler air from the night's rain. She knew it wouldn't last long as the sun would come out and take all the water and cool air with it. It would be another hot day soon enough and another day of protecting the city in the heatwave. She found it funny that she had collected a crimson star charm earlier that day that reminded her of the heat of the day.
