Getting invited to a sweet shop by a cute girl was, Freya decided, the best thing that could happen. She'd been to that wonderful bakery with Sophie, and now she got to go to the candy store where Evie worked. Really, she had the best life.
Especially when chance patrols kept leading to nice things like this. She'd run into Leona practically by accident, and they'd ended up exchanging civilian identities, and she'd gotten an invite to this place.
She sauntered up, pushed the door open, and grinned.
"Hey, Evie! It's Freya! I'm here!"

Evie had been waiting for her new friend to visit, and she looked up from where she was putting the finishing touches on some candy decorations, grinning. “It’s about time! I was starting to think that you got lost or something!”
The small plate of candy she had made for Freya was covered by a sheet of tinfoil, and she grabbed it before skipping around the counter and giving her friend a quick hug. “Made these for you. Wanted something that looked like your uniform and I think I did all right from memory but. You’ll have to let me know what you think. It’s a dark chocolate truffle with a blackberry filling that turned out amazing. I’m thinking of putting a batch of these out to sell, I’ve made a few dozen but. I wanted your opinion!”
She removed the foil with a flourish and held the plate out. The piece of candy was lovely, dark with an iridescent rainbow sheen and some white chocolate swirl designs. “Again, it’s not perfect but. It’s not too terribly bad.”

"Sorry," Freya said, brightly, "got a little delayed, but I'm here now, and that's what matters, right?" She winked, playfully. The hug was caught with excitement, and she gave Evie a squeeze around the shoulders, feeling both lucky and delighted by the whole situation.
"Ooooh, that sounds really, really good!" Her delight was obvious, and when she saw the actual, revealed candy, she let out a little, almost childish noise of delight. "Oh, that's amazing! Do you do this for all the pretty magical girls you meet, or am I really special?"
She winked, and picked up the truffle.
"Almost seems like a shame to eat it," she said, but she took a bite anyway, and made a loud, delighted noise. "Oh, that is so good, you definitely have to sell this."

Evie grinned and nodded, her eyes sparkling. “That’s what I’d hoped you’d say! I’ll get it out for everyone and do a trial for the rest of the day. That’s fantastic. I’m glad that you’re here now, yes that is indeed what matters.” She tilted her head to the side and hummed quietly. “Is there anything else I can get for you? Obviously you get the owners discount…even if my parents are the owners, I’m still able to give discounts and it brings all samples to the low, low cost of free!”
She waggled her eyebrows and moved back around the counter, drawing out a chocolate covered pretzel for herself and gesturing to all of the lovely treats on display.
“Pick your poison, my stabby queen.”
If there was going to be an exchange for protection if she needed it…it was well worth the price of candy.

Freya grinned. Oh, it was good to have friends int he right places--and the right place, right now, was behind the counter of a candy store. She wasn't gonna pretend she didn't have a sweet tooth, and there were so many options--would it be weird to bring Sophie here, sometime? Hard to guess. She shrugged and let the matter pass as she regarded the tableau before her.
"You are way, way too nice to me," she said, and she laughed. So many options! And all of them, she was sure, would be absolutely wonderful. So, she took a slightly exaggerated moment pondering, and then she looked up at Evie and smiled, bright and sunshiney.
"Why don't you give me a sampling of your favorites? I bet you've got great taste. You work here, after all, and you came up with that lovely little truffle, so!"

“I mean, if I’m ever about to be killed and you just so happen to stab whoever’s killing me, it’s more than worth some homemade sweets to pay for it.”
Evie grinned and got another chocolate covered pretzel, a bonbon filled with cherry and after a moment’s thought, one of their large, homemade peanut butter cups. Those were always a best seller, especially considering that the peanut butter was also homemade, with the peanuts roasted in house.
“All right then! This, my dear Freya is your treat for the day! A chocolate covered pretzel, milk chocolate cherry bonbon and a peanut butter cup made with honey roasted peanuts that tastes like heaven, if I do say so myself.
Which…she did. Often.
Reaching down, she picked up one of the pretzels and took a seat at one of the small tables, grinning up at her friend. “I hope you enjoy it. Next time you come I’m going to overfeed you with fudge, but I figured we’d start small today. Just some simple sweets, nothing too terribly heavy!”

Freya looked at the spread of treats in front of her and giggled, girlishly.
"You know, protection candy is the best racket I have ever heard of," she said, cheerily. And if all it took to get free sweets was a little stabbing, well! She liked stabbing anyway. It was fun.
"But you don't have to bribe me. One of my partners has family in the Dark Mirror, so like--if you need help, you really do just have to ask. Family of my family or whatever, yeah?" She shrugged her shoulders. It seemed pretty clear cut to her. The Dark Mirror were Danalite's people, which meant they were her people, which meant anyone who ******** with them was on the short train to Stabsville. All very nice and straightforward.
"Anyway," she said, "I will definitely be back for that fudge."
For now, though, she would just enjoy the treats in front of her.
